Official Madden Thread of Oh We Just Play DOTA2 Now

You only "warned" us after we were already in a game!

But yeah, whether I've been drinking or not isn't really much of a difference since I drink every night while playing the game. I didn't physically attack much yesterday though and that's no good. I was still dotting the people up with the AOE drain mana, the single silence, and the global silence. I didn't realize how much damage those spells do.

In other news, what type of mouse do you guys use? I think I need to purchase a new mouse and mouse pad.

You were stealing my cs, punk!

I also feel like I play this game as if it were WoW still. In wow, I always made sure to save my best moves (even if they were like a 2 min CD) for the right moment... but I could be saving up that CD for 10 minutes before I use it, which is dumb. I have to just let that go and use the ult whenever it would save you. Like, last night and the night before, I didn't use the global silence because it was a 2 on 3 team fight (where we had the 3 hero advantage) but their one hero was still dominating. I've got to let go of that mentality and just use the damn thing!

I didn't really mean to, even if I sounded like I was. I know I was supposed to give it to you but I just felt bored standing there. I wanted to at least get some hits in!

sensei raw

this sounds like a porn movie set in a dojo in japan

what would you say is the difference though? I don't think I'm good enough at these games to be able to really tell, besides from how it feels

my razr was definitely more responsive than my previous mouse...but is sensei raw fuck even more responsive?

Blame Somnia. If you went top lane instead of him, you could've been stacking and pulling!

Thanks Somnia. You really ruined my fun.

You can harass the other team by orb walking with your W.

Would you recommend leveling W or just keeping one point in it? The build I use is catered towards a lane support Silencer so it wants me to put one point in E and W and then fill up Q as fast as I can.

The sensei is one of the most customizable mice out. It's also smaller which took some time to get used to coming from the razer. You can also change your sensitivity on the fly with the sensei (there's a button on the mouse to do this).

I'd recommend starting with a point in W, then maxing his E as soon as possible.

Question to the people that play dota all the time...

Do get familiar with all the characters and their attacks do you play games as them or just read about them? Seems reading would be soooooo much faster being as there are a good 100000000000 heroes in the game it seems

I'm not exactly the person you were looking for but for me, I'm starting to learn a lot of the popular heroes spells by just playing against them. I don't necessarily know their names though. I'm also rarely playing as anyone new until I get decent with one hero at a time. So with Kunkka, I became mediocre with him and I felt it was time to move onto another hero. It was definitely time because we started to do Captains Mode and if someone picked my hero, I'd be screwed!

Same here. I want to get at least serviceable with SK before i move on to someone else. At the same time though, i need to learn the other heroes cause last night in top lane I had no idea what those two i was playing against could do.

Play games with them. Each hero's attack animations are different, and it is also good to get a feel for the delays on certain spell cast times. Reading about them only helps so much. You need to actually play every hero. You don't necessarily need to become really good with every hero, but as long as you understand their spells you will be much better off if you are playing with/against them.

Bot matches are great for this because you can just fuck around with their abilities.

I random all the time which helps a ton. I suck at playing most of the heroes but at least I then know what their spells do.

Pretty much this. I recommend playing with only one or two heroes while you're learning the basic mechanics after the game, but after that you need to have a good idea of what everyone's abilities are. Best way to do this is to actually play as the other heroes. It also lets you see the mindset your opponents are in and what they have at their disposal. Best way to mess around with them is in bot matches. You don't necessarily even need to do a full match, just long enough to get a feel for the hero and all their abilities.

I'm sure it seems like an overwhelming task. It certainly did to me when I started and that was when there were "only" 60 heroes.

We need to do RDR multiplayer

I've always been down for this.

I will start to do this. I still have to learn what each specific role actually means.

I was thinking today, I wish there was a way to random within a role. Like "random tank" or "random carry"

I believe you can sort them via their roles, but obviously you can't random in a real match within a certain role because that would be too rigged if you still got extra gold haha.

Well, they could obviously take the gold boost out dude.

But programming is hard.

Just saying, if you really wanted to do that just sort them and choose a different guy every time? That's a lot of work I know.

Or just ask BigAT or me for a certain role, and we will point you in the right direction.

Nah, I just think it would be a cool feature. Everyone can't random or you end up with a shit team but everyone could random within set roles. Just something I think would be neat-o.
