so is it set, Bish? I want to take bets on how long Loki lasts this time. I give him 3 hours, tops.

Loki is very predictable. All you have to do is wait until Kobe does something spectacular and go overboard on the praise. That will make it unbearable for him and he will start making insane arguments about FTs again.

C'mon, enough already. Go make a separate thread for all things comparison related between #23 and #8, and leave this thread for those of us who don't swing on either athletes' nutsack.

Don't make me hit you with another 6 months, Loki! :p

Finally, the man speaks.

Zeljko Rebraca went 1-2 FG and 3-4 FTs tonight, 60% of his offense came from the line. It's obvious the refs favor him.

Odom fucking sucks major ass. He needs to show up from the beginning of the game and quit waiting until Kobe dogs him out.

The game was good. Jason Williams behind the back to the lay in was the shit. My friend and I stood up and cheered for him, because it was tight, and everyone around us looked at us like we were fucking retarded

Lame asses. JWill is still cool and great to watch. I was laughing a bit when he fell down but still managed to keep his dribble alive. He has crazy handling skills.

Not quite. :) Unlike you, I'm capable of following orders. ;) :p

But take note:

Kobe Bryant:

12-21 FG, 16-16 FT, 41 points

I rest my case. :D When will the madness end? Will there ever again be a game where Kobe has more made FG's than FT's? Stay tuned... :lol

How does nobody else find anything absurd about this trend? :p Kobe had some sick moves tonight though-- I was watching the highlights just now.

Btw, I never made any comparisons between Kobe and Jordan except using MJ as an example, along with other players like AI and Wade. My argument was not concerned with comparing the two, only with exposing Kobe for the sham he is. :p And no, this doesn't count towards the ban, asswads (I'm looking at you, pistonhoDnaman). ;) :D

Nearly a month later, Bowen harassed and frustrated Carter, who missed his first seven shots and went 4-of-18 overall from the field. Carter finished with 13 points, the first time in 19 games he failed to reach the 20-point mark.

Rather than giving Bowen credit, Carter blamed a hand injury on his poor performance.

"There was something wrong with my hand tonight," said Carter, who had X-rays on his right index finger after the game that came back negative. "I couldn't put it in the hole. It happened sometime in the first quarter. I couldn't shoot or pass the ball as the game went on. It's not an excuse. It's just what happened."

Ah, Vince. Once a pussy, always a pussy. You´re Bowen´s bitch, accept it. Eventhough Devin did some good work yesterday too.

seriously. The only player that i think matches up would be a former Laker by the name of Cedric "The best to ever wear #23" Ceballos.

Holy shit! I guess it's safe to say we can put the Lakers record at 30-38 already, barring opponents injuries. Now let's see what they can pull off in the games in between.

They are the only team on there that the Lakers have not been able to compete with even from tipoff all year in the games played :lol

For a long time I thought murder was the only reasonable way to deal with Konex's strange powers to sink a team.

Now I realize that murder is not the answer (I reserve the right to change this answer if Konex so much as thinks about Big Ben), instead I am going to try and redirect Konex to a new team. If it involves trading Kobe, then so be it, no team can win with Konex believing they will win. I hope it doesn't come down to trading Kobe though, instead I hope that I can convince Konex to become a T-Mac, Lebron, or maybe even a Melo fanboy. If we can just deflect his energy towards Houston or Cleveland (preferably Cleveland as we want him as far away as possible), then I believe the Lakers will be dynastic again shortly thereafter.

I have a friend who works at VC, hopefully I can convince them to put T-Mac or Lebron on the cover, which should go a long way towards making this dream into a reality.

What's funny is that Konex was a Melo fan, then dropped him while he struggled earlier this season. Ever since Konex stopped supporting him, well...

6. Houston 12.0
7. Memphis 13.0
8. Denver 16.0
9. LA Lakers 16.5
10. Minnesota 16.5

Finally, you're rooting against Dallas. Thank you! The Mavs need all the help they can get without Dirk, Finley, Dampier, and Stackhouse.

That shot by Bibby last night was crazy. Similar to Kobe's amazing shot last year against Portland in terms of distance and speed in getting the shot away.

That shot was sick, I missed most of last nights game, Kings are stil la really solid team. I just wish the Kings had traded Webb to a better team, and got a little more for him. The trade could have been so much better for both the Kings, and Webber.

Wow, the Spurs are hanging tough, despite the absences. Let's see if they can do it for one more quarter and have a shot at the W.

I loved this game. imo no matter what they said another loss for the Suns would have been hard b/c they would have it in their heads that they just can't beat the Spurs, and we've seen in other sports contexts what this does to a team's psyche. The Spurs were very short-handed obviously, but we've seen what they're capable of even short-handed and they definitely played hard to win this game, but it wasn't enough. Even as a big Suns fan, I still think they are very unlikely to beat the Spurs in a playoff series, and I sincerely hope someone else catches the Spurs by surprise first, but this game at least reassures me that psychologically the Suns will think they have a chance, which is particularly important after the heartbreaking OT loss in their second game against the Spurs. Also, the Suns' hopes could hinge on getting homecourt against the Spurs, so just from a playoff positioning POV this win is huge as well.

EDIT:

Amare's Line
33 minutes
44 points
17-22 FG
10-13 FTs (+7 Loki Number)

Damn, good effort, but not enough.

3-point shooting killed us(2-15). Barry reall needs to wake up, because his shooting has been horrible. We may not need a shooter as badly as we did in last year's playoffs, but he could be a great asset to the team, if he got some of his rythm back. Oh well, it was a good test for TP and the rest of the guys.

Shaq most obese in NBA? So says BMI

Height-weight formula doesn't appear to hold up in assessing basketball players
At 7-foot-1 and 325 pounds, Miami Heat star Shaquille O’Neal had the NBA’s highest BMI, 31.6, in the AP analysis.

ANALYSIS
By Malcolm Ritter
The Associated Press
Updated: 4:45 p.m. ET March 9, 2005

NEW YORK - Last week it was obese football players. Now it’s ... overweight basketball players?

Yep. If you apply a widely used criterion to the published heights and weights of NBA players, nearly half qualify as overweight.

Only four players assessed using the body-mass index (BMI) by The Associated Press made it all the way to the “obese” range, most notably — you guessed it — Miami Heat star Shaquille O’Neal.

But the notion that 200 other NBA players out of 426 are even within a 3-point shot of tubby might make one wonder: Just how good is the BMI at telling if somebody is too fat?

The finding follows a study of football players published last week in the Journal of the American Medical Association. That research concluded that according to BMI standards, more than half of National Football League players are obese, and nearly all are overweight. The study’s validity was questioned by an NFL spokesman.

What’s going on here? Obesity experts say the BMI really is a useful guide to identifying individuals who are too fat for their own good, but it shouldn’t be used by itself.

“The value of the BMI for the (general) population is it’s a good first step, and I underline ’first step,”’ says Dr. George Bray of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, La.

“No one has ever suggested it’s the only criterion to use, because it clearly is not.”

The body-mass index doesn’t directly measure fat. It comes from a formula that considers only weight and height. At 7-foot-1 and 325 pounds, O’Neal had the NBA’s highest BMI, 31.6, in the AP analysis. (He admits to gaining 2 pounds since those numbers were posted.)

That puts him in the “obese” range, which is 30 and above. A BMI indicates normal weight if it falls between 18.5 and 24.9, and overweight if it’s between 25 and 29.9.

“I’ve read that same formula, but as an athlete, I’m classified as phenomenal,” O’Neal told The AP. “You can look it up.”

O’Neal, ranked among the NBA’s 50 greatest players, lost 40 pounds after team management asked him to when he joined the team last summer. He says he now has 13 percent body fat.

Studies show that as a group, people who score “overweight” on the BMI run an elevated risk of developing such problems as diabetes and heart disease, while those in the “obese” category have even higher risks.
They talked about his on PTI today. When Wilbon started the segment, he asked, "Guess which player was the fattest?"

Kornheiser muttered, "Shawn Kemp?" :lol :lol
