Bears offseason makes no sense at all. They won the Division and went to the NFC Championship game, and now they are going backwards hard.

It makes perfect sense and it is the smart thing to do. They fluked their way to the conference title. Their defense is old, their QB is heartless and gutless, the offensive line is awful and/or old and their skill players are atrocious.

I was really, really, really hoping they would do something dumb and waste a ton of money on receivers. I'm actually disappointed the Bears are being so smart and not signing anyone. They should be in rebuild mode right now to reduce the number of down years.

Matt dodge still a Giant, my god really no one better?
They signed Steve Weatherford today. Both punters will be in training camp and will "compete" for the job and then they'll eventually cut Dodge.

If they could have gotten a big time WR and OL help they could have been right in the mix again in the NFC. If they tear down the team and try to rebuild it, it will be years before they are good again. I dont like Cutler at all but he did get them almost to the SB with a terrible WR group. I dont see how not signing their own FA's, or anyone elses gets them closer to winning.

They have a huge number of holes. OL, ,LB, corner, safety, tight end, receiver.

And most importantly QB

No it won't, not if they don't make any crippling signings (which they seem to be avoiding). It looks to me like they are trimming fat to build for next year.

What I'm not sure about is that we seem to be pandering to Martz's whims. Overhauling the TE position for him, getting Mike and his ol pal Roy back together.

Except, you know, mostly ignoring the o-line that will never hold for 5-7 step drops.

Considering he will be your head coach in 2012, that makes sense.

Cutler is gonna be in ICU after two weeks..

Either the Browns board are playing a blinder and are going to scoop up a lot of the cut players for good prices, or will wait to eat into their cap a bit over the next year or so.

Or they're asleep.

What about when the Packers signed Woodson? 2006 was it?
That was nice, and also "WTF, Woodson is old and busted isn't he?" Which is why Thompson made the move.

Hopefully: re-signing Jenkins.

More likely: getting extensions ready for Sitton and Finley. In light of your response to this the other day, the latter obviously won't sniff an offer until he makes it to week 10 or so without ending up on IR.

I'm trying to not jump. Talk me down off the ledge please. I know you cant buy yourself into contention. The right way is to draft well, development, blah blah blah but we just have so many gaping holes, we need some help! Most of these 2nd/3rd tier guys arent much better if at all than what we already have. We need some impact players and they're disappearing quick.

I'd be absolutely shocked (pleasantly so) if HOFinley gets and extension.

Eagles winning off season SB, but they forget Reid is still their coach and the new DC was their O-line coach last season....

If they were smart they wouldn't start Vick til week 8. No way he plays a full season.

Another huge benefit to being the World Champion Super Bowl winning team:

The Green Bay Packers have agreed to terms on a four-year, $6.6 million deal with first-round pick Derek Sherrod, according to a source with access to NFL salary information.

lol

Looks like we resigned Harper. 4 years, 28.5 mil, 16 mil guaranteed. Not bad.
That's a pretty big contract, at least guaranteed money wise. Last memory we got of him is getting embarrassed by Marshawn Lynch.

eznark, Bengals' Andy Dalton's deal is small as well.

Vince Young finally officially signed to Eagles for $5.5mil, this free's up $12.75 mil this year for the Titans.

Time to give that money to Chris Johnson.
