I feel crazy for being the only person who doesn't want him. I'd rather have Young or Clausen to be perfectly honest.

No, you really don't want that. You already have the best quarterback off the Panthers' roster last year.
Not including the evergreen Brian St. Pierre, of course
.

That game too but I was referring to the DPI calls.
I loved Cutler's fist pump after a PI negated an INT & set them up in the red zone. Really, Jay? A fist pump for that? SMH.

Semi related...I wonder if refs will call the first few games a bit more leniently if play is sloppy and teams are out of sync.

That would be a great idea; no reason to subject fans to 3-1/2 hour penalty fests after leaving the season in doubt for so long.

The @Giants announce signing of T Stacy Andrews, brother of @IMShawnAndrews

Isn't he the extremely less talented brother? LOL. Probably a league minimum signing to get bodies in camp/depth (the Giants are a good bit below the 90 player max) but meh, seems a waste.

Oh and the saga continues:

@NYPost_Schwartz - Wondering if Osi Umenyiora will make nice and practice tonight? Stop wondering. He's not going to. On and on it goes. #NYG

Franklin was overrated. Spikes cant cover. Lawson cant rush the passer. We needed a change. Ice will be fine at nt as we are playing 1 gap. Mcdonald has already proven to be a good pass rusher. Aldon smith cant possibly be worse than manlaw at blitzing the qb and bowman was a beast late last year.

Carlos rogers is also an upgrade over clements.

Ps. Malcom floyd may sign with us today!
Agreed on every point, and I honestly think Smith is going to be a force. Also word is Reggie Smith is ripping practice. Love to see that continue + Goldson back, but we'll likely have to deal with Spillman. Spencer on the side will continue to be the breach point, we'll need the pass rush to crack Top 20 pass defense this year. Top 10 against the run is a lock.

And Floyd would be a great signing! I'd love to see Floyd and Crabtree lineup, with Morgan as a third. Gore as a lone back with Walker and Davis lined up as a double set would be devastating as well.

I also expect Miami to have one of the elite defenses in football this year.

Not to just talk about my dolphins all day long but thought this nugget was interesting. I'm a little bit concerned about the safety and cornerback positions though.

This is completely random, has there been any murmurings of Clinton Portis? Still some decent names floating around out there. Ricky Williams is avail too.

Why will they be elite compared to last year?

I'm going to assume removing Crowder and replacing him with a more experienced vet. The LB core was already the strongest part of the team with Misi, Dansby and Wake. Taylor is back, Odrick is a year wiser.

Some Ravens news:

When Casey Rabach failed his physical because of a recovering shoulder, the Ravens now have to look for a vet center.

One interesting name for the Ravens to study is Olin Kreutz, who would be interested in a team such as the Ravens. Kreutz would consider

Giants GM Jerry Reese has told Osi Umenyiora to "take the rest of the day off to clear your head," according to a source. #NFL

That, by the way, is the proverbial calm before the storm. I was told Osi has no intention of practicing tomorrow either, or "anytime soon."

Some schlub writer was saying that the Diva WR is dead. True?
What were his points?

I'll agree, but the only reason I agree is that there has been a ridiculous wealth of WR talent the recent drafts have provided. If someone's a malcontent fuckhead, then they'll just get replaced by someone younger.

Here's the article.

Basically he just reiterates the fate of a few key guys - Moss, Johnson, T.O. Dez, Crabtree, and compares and contrasts them to guys who bust their asses like Fitz and AJ and their comparative success in the league.

Wow! Somehow Skip Bayless has gone even more batshit insane. Wathcing him and Schlereth list their top 5 offseason winners. He has the Bears at 4th best this offseason....

So whats does the rest of Packers GAF think of Morgan Burnett this year?

He really didn't start off too strong last year before his injury. Obviously there's not much to go off of, so maybe he would've gotten better. But last year Pep was completely solid and dependable back there (please don't remind me of his play in the Redskins game though). Plus Im worried about Burnetts ability to be effective in the run game.

Obviously we'll see what happens when pre season games start coming, but it's interesting to think how different our team might look just based on guys returning from injury.

And they wonder why we didnt overpay to keep Leech. They will be fine, they will restructure a couple deals and get under, no biggie.

yeah no biggie you guys are still definitely making the playoffs this year. no doubt!

You trying to taint our season?

just trollin'!

the truth of the matter is that i would actually love to see the texans win that division. i'm sick of seeing the colts, pats, steelers every year in the playoffs and since my own team sucks dick i have to live through other teams.

Its hard to say with Burnett. Obviously he was injured for the majority of last year as a rookie and I agree he did not look too impressive during his limited time on the field. There's a lot of potential reasons for his performance last year as he was a rookie and could have still been in the process of catching up with the speed of the game and digesting the playbook. On the other hand, maybe he does suck and will never adjust well enough to the game to be a quality starter. Really too early to tell with him but I think physically he can play the position if he can maintain his speed with the added weight, it's all a matter of how he takes to the game mentally.

Peprah is better, IMO.

He's more physical, been around/on the field for more than a year, etc.
That simply makes him better in Capers' defense.

Burnett has promise but needs to play more physical.
Right now I'd rather see him play some dime CB. Plays to his strengths.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Nick Fairley has surgery on foot, will miss "a significant part" of training camp.

DAMN IT.

Oh well--at least we're deep at the position for once.

I just hope it's not a 4-6 month injury.

Going to be out at least a month of the season. Count on it.

Lions DT Nick Fairley underwent foot surgery today in Charlotte and Lions said he will miss a significant portion of preseason. At least.

Take it from someone who saw 16 injuries last year; it's ALWAYS worse.

He'll miss the opener I'd guess Week 4.

That's what I'm guessing as well. My guess is more week 10 (right after the bye) than week 4.

John Clayton is saying that Fairley's injury is not a Lisfranc fracture.

That is the best possible news to come of this.

Well even with Fairley out for 4-6 weeks out current DT rotation is still the best in the league with Suh, Corey Williams and SLH. Really glad we didn;t

I just hope it was an injury at training camp as opposed to coming out of shape. Oh well Fairley will be back Week 5 after we demolish the Bears on MNF week

I don't think the words "stress fracture" and "surgery" carry as much weight with you as they should.
