Saints let Goodwin walk. They will replace him with MAtt Tennant. Should be fine. Goodwin was mediocre but Brees makes his Oline look better with his pocket awareness.

Like I said, I predict he's back week 10. Just reporting what Clayton (and now the team) is saying.

Why would I be mad? We let Jeff Faine go to Tampa and then plugged in Goodwin. It doesn't really matter who is up front. Goodwin is decent but hes no Nick Mangold of Jeff Saturday. He will help you guys but if your QB keeps holding onto the ball too long it aint gonna do you much good.

Alex Smith doesn't hold on to the ball too long.. If anything he throws it away pretty much at the first sign of pressure (well scrambles to the sideline first)

I CAN'T be the only one who feels that's a smart move, can I?

Anyone? Tell me I'm not crazy? <_<
He had a good year in 06. I think Derek Anderson at least has enough knowledge of the position to provide some input to the new guys.

Fair enough. He is a good veteran player and he has a ring. He is definitely an upgrade for you guys. We kept Bushrod, Nicks, and Evans, so whoever is in the middle will have a lot of help. that's why they aren't too worried about letting Goodwin walk.

Laurent Robinson to the Chargers. Seemed like as close as the Rams could get to a reliable possession receiver last year before he joined the Rams WR-IR retirement home. I guess on the Chargers he's what, #5?

Cadillac to the Rams seems equally weird. Maybe the Rams are just prepping for another huge burst of injuries again...

How is it a smart move? Am I missing the sarcasm? Anderson is absolutely the worst active QB in the NFL. I challenge you to find an active player who has started 5 or more games that has a worse completion percentage. You cant. Because the only guy worse was Jamarcus Russell.

Not to just talk about my dolphins all day long but thought this nugget was interesting. I'm a little bit concerned about the safety and cornerback positions though.

You shouldnt be concerned about the corners -- Davis is on the verge of making the pro-bowl. If Sean Smith caught the ball on the other side, he would have made the Pro Bowl last year and lead the league in interceptions. He lead the league in dropped picks for any starting corner. He has skills and I expect big things from him. Will Allen is a proven vet and Nolan Carroll also played great at the spot last year in Nickel/Dime. At SS Yeremiah has made or been an alternate for the Pro Bowl the past 2 seasons. The question mark is who starts at FS -- I think Rashad Jones (2nd Year) will win the job. When he got in games last year, he was always around the ball and making plays. He was more impactful at the position in his few games than Clemons was all year long, plus he's a better tackler in my opinion.

The LB group was already solid and should only be better with Burnett moving in next to Dansby. I liked Crowder, but in all his seasons he can never make big plays (1 career INT and maybe 3 Career FF). Wake is a beast and Misi should only be better in his 2nd year. You also have AJ Edds to help in pass downs who should be able to immediately contribute. He was having a great camp last year before jacking his leg up.

For the front 3 -- Langford / Soliai / Starks are all legit and coming off great seasons. Then you mix in Odrick (who missed nearly all of last season), Tony McDaniel who could start anywhere in the league and Philip Merling who is great vs the run.

The defense is set, they were Top 10 last year and I expect more of the same this year.

The only question you should have as a Fins fan is 1) Will we really stick with Henne? 2) Can Henne actually produce?

I actually think some added weapons + a new OC will be good for him and he'll be above average this year. As long as he doesnt overthink, which he does way too often, he'll be alright.

And that's it for my long post that only the maybe 2 other Fins Fans will care about!

Given the state of our O-line, he's pretty much an upgrade. I'm really hoping that Iupati and Davis improve mightly this year (in Davis' case...not commit a false start every other play)

One thing he didn't do is penalties. He played clean.
Matt Tennant is a young, even more talented center and Brees has already shown a lot of confidence in him, so we'll be fine. I don't know if anyone paid any attention to the SAints when they put Goodwin in at center, but he snapped the ball past Brees several times his first year. It will take a little time to readjust but Tennant can do it.

By the end of the year, all they had was Amendola running 3 yard routes. I still wish they would have done something beyond Simms-Walker at WR, but a team doesn't win six games in 3 years and remake itself in two offseasons.

Your avatar suggests you are a filthy Stealers fan, but you seem pretty current with your Rams info. Do you live in STL or something?

Just a combo of Canada GAF, NFL GAF, Fantasy Football GAF, and "I lived in the states before" GAF. It let's me be a single-team fan but pay attention to everything going on without obsessing over the crazy shit like "what is my third string defensive tackle's favorite lasagna?"

I really hope they resign Clayton, seems like the closest thing to chemistry Bradford had for awhile there...the combo of Avery's random big plays and some actual quantity of catch-and-runs.

If Floyd goes elsewhere, maybe Ajirotutu? Or did he resign? (Is there a Chargers GAF?)

DAVIE, Fla. -- The jeers have begun for Miami quarterback Chad Henne, much to the dismay of his coach.

Fans attending a practice at the Dolphins' stadium booed their much-maligned quarterback, then chanted "We want Orton!" in reference to the team's recent courtship of Denver's Kyle Orton.

"It really makes me sick," Tony Sparano said Wednesday. "When people come to the stadium like that in one of those kind of events to support the Miami Dolphins, that's what we should be thinking about."

Admission was free for the evening practice Monday as a goodwill gesture after the NFL lockout.

Boos started following a couple of errant passes by Henne toward the end of practice. Then came the chant for Orton, who remains the Broncos' starter despite trade talks with Miami.

Sparano said he doesn't think Henne was shaken by the fan treatment.

"I'm not worried about how it affects anybody," he said. "We're all big boys here."

The Dolphins wanted to acquire a quarterback this summer to compete with Henne for the starting job, but their only significant addition at the position has been Matt Moore, who went 1-4 as a starter last year for Carolina.

Henne is No. 1 even though he threw 19 interceptions last year and was benched for a stretch.

"No one is doubting him inside the building, only outside the building," receiver Brian Hartline said.

Poor guy. And it's only pre-season.

ugh, cowpies resigned sensebaugh. now the market for dashon goldson has dried up. we could do a lot worse but i would rather just roll the dice with reggie smith at FS. i guess i wouldn't hate it if we re-signed goldson to a reasonable deal. maybe the coaching change would help him out, i don't know.

i also hope fangio stops playing the bullshit cover 4 safe zone that we have played 90% of the time the past 6 years. i would honestly rather get beat deep on a 1 play, 80 yard TD than have a team drive 15 plays for 80 yards and the TD anyways. it was like we were playing prevent all game. then teams just dinked and dunked us all the way down the field, ESPECIALLY on screen plays. that is another reason i wanted franklin gone. dude has no fucking awareness for that kind of stuff and we just got torched by it. great run stuffer though.

now with franklin gone, we slide ice to the middle and mcdonald to de. i like that setup a lot better. our rush defense will suffer and our pass defense will improve. i'll take those odds! p-will is going to clean up the mess anyways

That's why I like Aubrayo. He's a run stuffer. Saints don't have too much problems defending the pass, whether they have a pass rush or not, but they sucked against the run and Vilma is a much better pass defender than he is a run defender. Aubrayo fills a need on the Saints Dline in that regard. On the back end we've got Jenkins, Porter, Greer, with Patrick Robinson and Johnny Patrick and Leigh Torrence as depth. With any pass rush at all from Rogers and Smith and Cameron Jordan, the defense will be fine against the pass. It was just the run stopping that was a very obvious problem.

I'm actually kind of worried about the run defense, we lost 3 of our primary run stoppers in Lawson, Franklin, and Nasty Nate. Hopefully Ice can plug the middle and Rogers (loldoubtit) can help Aldon Smith to set the edge.

Hopefully our pass rush is dominant this year or we're going to see a lot of long balls again. :(

He could break his leg and be back before week 10. It takes about 4-6 week for fracture to completely heal. And maybe extra couple for the hell of it.

He will be fine in 4-5 week and practice as hard as he wants.

franklin is a good run stopper. he struggled early in his career playing in a 2 gap system. but when we switched to a 1 gap system, he improved a lot and became a "franchise" player. the thing is, everyone on our defensive line benefited from that change.

not sure how franklin will work out in a 4-3 (which is what you guys play i believe), but i can't imagine him having too much of an issue adjusting

I'm not surprised. I'm just pointing out the new generation of diva WR. I knew I should have put up Crabbles!

I see Goodell is still screwing up the labor peace.

Per the source, Commissioner Roger Goodell refuses to surrender full control of the league’s personal conduct policy.

Players are angry and are demanding a change. If they don't ratify the CBA, newly signed free agents still won't be able to practice.

Surrender control of conduct policy? To whom? The players? That's funny.

No--they want an impartial group of overseers. I believe it was initially talked about being a group of 3 former judges.

Eh, it'd be nice if one man didn't have such power. He's free to punish with whatever whim strikes him, and I could see being angry if I was a player. Or fan. Or had common sense.

Fuck Goodell!

Wasn't Boss the replacement for Shockey? If that's the case then I think he must be pretty good.

He caught 119 passes for 1,600 yards and 18 touchdowns in 58 games for the Giants the past four seasons. 16 of those TDs came in the last 3 seasons. Compared to Miller's 12 in 4 years. Boss is a better blocker and played on the super bowl team.

Picking him up would be huge.
