If Osi doesnt report by Aug 9th then this year doesnt count as a year of service. If he gets surgery then the Giants have to either put him on IR or the PuP list, either way he gets paid and doesnt have to play for them.
He has been reporting just claiming he's hurt and can't practice. He's doing that to get around the $30k/day fine.

I'm going to training camp Sunday at 6 if any of GiantsGAF is around. Going with a couple of friends.

Osi's already reported. He's at camp. This isn't a DeSean Jackson like holdout.

He's just riding a bike due to his "injury".

There were 1,815 people at #NYG practice tonight -- a new Meadowlands record. None of them believe Osi Umenyiora's knee is actually sore.
LOL.

Raiders have 24 hours to dump $16 million in cap overage. Thaaaaaaat should be interesting.

This can't be true right?

those games they are showing from the nov-dec run was magical, destroyed everyone 07 style

should've been our year. unlucky

Jets had to ruin everything. I have no doubt in my mind that the Pats would have beaten the Steelers.

LOL.

I mis-worded it. I was thinking that if he keeps refusing to practice at some point the team might claim he is holding out. I have heard of players reporting before and then being fined for refusing to practice.

Word going around that Stanford Routt and Richard Seymour have restructured their contracts. Those two alone restructuring will put the Raiders under the cap. Word is McFadden will be restructured as well to bring in Boss.

Ahh I knew something was up,but for a second I did hope that they would cut Seymour so he could come back to the Pats.

steelers are quite a bit over the cap too. come on assholes cut come of your good defensive players!

p.s. rumors are asante samuel could be a cap casualty. not sure how much i believe that though!

The Pats' D line has been shit ever since Seymour was traded. Raiders' d line on the other hand is one of the best in the league since Seymour came in.

Man is a beast. Pats should have signed him. The problem with letting him go was that they didn't have anyone to replace him, and the linebackers they had were garbage for the most part. Pats track record for offensive lineman in the first two rounds is really good. So Solder is going to be solid(hopefully) One of the best moments from last year was when he punched Roethlisberger

FrenchMovieTheme said:
richard seymour is legit. i hate the raiders but i can admit that

Can you imagine that some Pats fans tried to say he was over rated when they traded him. It's a shame the Pats didn't sign him.

Edit:If I remember correctly he had struggled the season before they traded him. I'm guessing the Pats thought he was close to done, and they are cheap.

The media always blows up our salary cap situation and every year we make it under the cap without cutting anybody. At the same time signing free agents. Don't buy into their bullshit, Based Al has mastered the salary cap tango.

RT @fauxjohnmadden: 49ers sign Braylon Edwards. He'd have signed a week ago but he kept dropping the pen when it was thrown to him.

And now all the 1s are done: Giants first-round pick Prince Amukamara agreed to terms.

Brad Smith played receiver for a bit and then saw a shitload of reps at QB.

Gailey's nuts.
That would be awesome to see during the regular season. Hope he does well for you guys, just not when you play us.

I had no idea Tom Moore is with the Jets now as an offensive consultant. Wonder if he'll fix Brian Schottenheimer's playcalling.

Jim Harbaugh said 49ers received lot of Taylor Mays trade inquiries over past 8 days. Mays was at practice after having talk w/Trent Baalke.

guess it was singletary and not trent baalke who wanted mays last year (they were shown to be verbally arguing in the war room leading up to the pick). singletary had final authority over the draft.

i still like mays. unless we get a decent offer for him i'd like to develop him. at the very least he can be a missle on special teams

I love Gailey's out of the box thinking, but it bites him in the ass more often than not.

It's no secret that they would have taken Newton if he fell to 3. Probably prepped some stuff in the offseason for a QB capable of throwing and running. When they signed Smith I got the feeling that's what they wanted him for, plus the screen game.

I was right about the screen game, they've been going 4-5 wide and running receiver screens every which way in practice. The WRs were weak as fuck in that area last season, only Roscoe had a clue, none of them had to do it in the past.

When you sit in 3+ receiver sets over 70% of the time, you better have a screen game otherwise you're fucked.

It's ok. They have Bush to backup McFadden and as long as they have Miller, they'll be alright in the passing ga... oh...

Doubly bad since Bush still hasn't signed yet. It's Rock Cartwright time!!

So does Andy Dalton start by the end of the season? Who even is the starter for the Bengals? Gradkowski?

Dalton is the wishful thinking starter who gets pulled once he hits his INT quota. Then Gradkowski plays until he breaks like old ikea furniture. Then it's between Dalton and (Jordan) Palmer until the season ends or Carson decides to cash in.

Cincy is getting a hell of a deal if he starts any games this year. His contract is shit.

I don't know, it depends what we can get. With Whitner now, he's really expendable. Whitner is young, an excellent tackler and tracker, and just came off a great season.

Whitner, R. Smith and Rogers in the backfield makes me wish we had another CB stronger than Spencer, and our backfield would be damn solid. As is it's a huge upgrade. Still want a Goldson re-sign tho, hopefully on the cheap.

And wow on people railing on Edwards for drops still. Guy has a career year, gets outta the garbage situation he was in, becomes one of the leagues most reliable WR's with the Jets (outplayed Holmes a few times IMO) and still gets dogged.

Love the signing myself.

BTW even with the lockout and the cancellation of the hall of fame game, this year's off-season topic already has more posts than last years. Last year's topic went on for another month from now encompassing all the pre-season games and fantasy madness. NFL-GAF continues to grow.

donte whitner is what we need at SS: a guy who can tackle and hit some people. i felt like that was missing last year. reggie smith is a more natural FS to be honest. he has much better play making abilities than goldson.

i'm not sure i even want goldson back. you can never have too many DB's but it's just not going to be worth it. i am extremely pleased with our free agent signings. we do need to pickup a veteran QB though.... not very comfortable with alex smith and 2 rookies going into the season. but it's slim pickins out there for qb's..... doubt we could get bulger out of retirement to learn a new system anyways.

Absolutely. It's been infinitely more enjoyable.

There are some teams that are obviously going to be bad this year. Oakland, Seattle, Carolina, Buffalo, but without Palmer I'm pretty sure that Cincy will be the worst. With him they might be picking around 5th. Unless Andy Dalton is the QB of this years draft they will be just awful. It wont take much for the team to quit on Marvin Lewis either. Could get ugly real fast in Cincy.

I don't know any QB who'd want to take snaps behind our O-line.
