Pretty good overall. The only thing I would be weary about is starting Maroney...I had him last year, and he scored fuck all for points. Now, I dunno if the Pats are doing their 2 running back system again this year/full on pass attack, but he may not rack up many points. Other than that, pretty solid!

Yeah, Maroney was a value pick. He fell incredibly low in our draft, and in that respect I think he may be a little underrated this year (with Brady being gimpy).

I believe I got Maroney late in the 5th round.

Whoa, I just got a nice team on CBSSports.com. My brother got me to join an auto-draft pay league with him (12 teams). You set your player rankings and which position you want to select each round and the computer picks the teams based on peoples' lists. It makes you take a second defense and second tight end, so people are going to be dropping those like crazy in a few days.

You start: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, RB/WR, TE, DST, K

CBS' default positions selected for each round unless you change the order:
RB, QB, WR, RB2, TE, WR2, DST, RB/WR, K, QB2, RB3, WR3, TE2, DST2.

I decided to go:
RB, WR, WR2, TE, WR3, RB2, RB3, QB, QB2, RB/WR, DST, K, DST2, TE2

My goal was to have TOP QUALITY wide receivers starting for me at WR, WR, and RB/WR even if it meant having a low-end #1 QB and low-end #2 RB. After the top 20 or so, quality of WRs really starts to drop. And I didn't want to be stuck having Bernard Berrian as my 2nd WR. He could have a good year, but I wouldn't want to have to count on it.

I thought about going WR or QB in the first round, but couldn't convince myself at all that it would be wise. I would kill myself if I ended up being given the first overall pick (which I got luckily) and took a WR or QB instead of LT.

I bumped tight end up a round hoping to get a top-5 guy, which I got in Cooley. I thought that might have cost me in the quality of the third receiver I got, but I got Brandon Marshall who is likely going to be awesome and is only going to miss 1 game due to suspension now. He was #8 on my pre-draft rankings, so I got 3 of what I considered the top 8 WR. Not bad!

I knew if I didn't go QB in round 1 I wouldn't get one of the top 4 premium QBs, so I just dropped QB back as far as I thought I could before people would start taking their second QBs. I was hoping for two top-14 QBs and got them (I hope) in Favre and Bulger. I realize having a top QB is really, really nice, but taking one that early would have killed my depth at RB and WR and I may have gotten stuck with a 2nd tier tight end.

I decided to punt on DST and K, since after the first couple they all seem the same. There was no way I was taking them before taking my 3rd RB, 3rd WR, or backup QB.

1. LaDainian Tomlinson - RB
2. Terrell Owens - WR
3. Reggie Wayne - WR
4. Chris Cooley - TE
5. Brandon Marshall - WR
6. Thomas Jones - RB
7. Edgerrin James - RB
8. Brett Favre - QB
9. Marc Bulger - QB
10. Patrick Crayton - WR (round I selected for my flex pick)
11. Bucs - DST
12. Rob Bironas - K
13. Browns DST
14. Kevin Boss - TE

Notes: Really lucky to get the #1 pick and be handed LT. Stoked to have 3 WR I feel can be top-5 guys at the position. Lucky to have No 2 and 3 RBs who are expected to get the lion's share of their teams' carries. They may both be about 30 years old, but I'm only screwed if both get hurt.

And... I don't know why I felt compelled to type all of that! It's nice feeling excited about one of my fantasy football teams' prospects at the beginning of the year for once.

Patriots better not fuck it up this season. My buddy Jared thinks that the Patriots will somehow have a better Regular Season than they did last year. I hope so.

You're in an 8 team league and Maroney is your 2nd best RB? That's terrible. Not only that, I could argue you only have 1 front line receiver. And your TE is a question mark.

Srsly... this might be ok for a 10 team league, but...

(It's important to note that I'm probably completely wrong)

Ah, sorry about that - it's actually a 10 team league.

And I'm not crazy about Maroney or Vernon Davis, but I got them at good values, so I'll take it. I think the Favre/Big Ben tandem could would well by playing weak match-ups. Ben quietly had a great season last year.

Oh, 10 teams, yeah that's not bad then. I think Davis could be effective if used properly but he's in a terrible offense. Also, I do love the QB situation you have, it should work well. I just don't like Maroney.

Does Houston still have a laughably bad offensive line or has Pittsburgh replaced them in that category?
Well, they only gave up 22 sacks last season which was good for 4th in the afc.
The "pundits" though act like they gave up the most in the league last season.

how can you have a better regular season? and why would it matter? at this point i would imagine the regular season must be a chore for the fans to sit thru.

I don't like the sound of this. Houston has a better o-line than the Steelers and an arguably better D-line.

That is a recipe for disaster...

Hopefully Schaub gives us some help, otherwise it is going to take another Big Ben miracle.

Pats fans are a nonsensical bunch. Don't try and make sense of their insanity.

Well my 10 team league drafted yesterday and this is the team I drafted
QB - Big Ben
RB - Bryan Westbrook
RB- Lendale White
WR - Houshmandzadeh
WR - Braylon Edwards
WR - Santonio Holmes
TE - Owen Daniels
K - Phil Dawson
DEF - Tennessee

BN - Vernon Davis, Kenny Watson, Matt Hasselbeck, Reggie Williams, Derrick Mason, Chester Taylor

I need a better #2 RB and TE unless Vernon Davis has a break out year

Well here are my teams.
Ten team league, pretty normal.

QB Tom Brady
RB Maurice Jones-Drew
RB Chester Taylor
RB/WR Hines Ward
WR Reggie Wayne
WR Wes Welker
TE Antonio Gates
D/ST Bucs
K Gostkowski

bench, andre davis, duce mcallister, steve slaton, philip rivers, robert meachem, time hightower

16 team league.... normal scoring, but 16 goddamn teams. I told the league owner not to do it, then after the draft he said he was regretting it.
QB Peyton Manning
RB Maurice Jones Drew
RB DeAngelo Williams
RB Derrick Ward
RB/WR Ted Ginn Jr
WR Hines Ward
WR Calvin Johnson
WR Nate Burleson
WR/TE Robert Meachem
TE Owen Daniels
D/ST Giants
K Kris Brown

bench Tim Hightower, Andre Davis, Sam Hurd, Kyle Boller, JT O Sullivan, Joe Jurevicius

This league is messed up, not only did i not know that returners get equal points to running backs for yards until the 8th round of the draft(devin hester was the first pick), but if your kicker misses a point after its -100 points. I think this league is pretty stupid. Theres a whole bunch of scoring rules for kickers.

QB Drew Brees
QB Philip Rivers
WR Reggie Wayne
WR Kevin Walter
WR Calvin Johnson
RB Adrian Peterson
RB Willie Paker
TE Antonio Gates
W/R Brandon Jacobs
K Kris Brown

DEF Baltimore
DB Ed Reed
D Mario Williams
DL Amobi Okoye - i Had Osi here but he got hurt :-(

bench Earnest Graham, Jacoby Jones, Chester Taylor, Owen Daniels, Fred Taylor, Hines Ward, Fred Bennett

A public league? Or another private one?

How...did you draft all of those guys in a 12 teamer? Crazy. McFadden is the upside pick, James is the safe pick. Check the matchups and how much you are favored by. If you really want Brown then be prepared to dump Kolby, but you already have three bench receivers.

Another private league, just with a different group of friends. My other league was filled with people with plenty of football knowledge, and an even distribution of fans from different teams. The league I posted above everyone was a Jets fan or a NY fan (both Giants and Jets) I think that affected decisions, but the commish also handed out a "draft kit" ranking list of players from some magazine which was dated.

you would love that i bet! sadly we will win the NFC west and then what will you say?

meanwhile, i don't care that the steelers are going to suck dick. i want to feel bad for you guys, but i just can't. i am apathetic towards your situation!

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh announced today that rookie quarterback Joe Flacco will start Sunday in the season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals at M&T Bank Stadium.

Flacco, the team's No. 1 pick in this year's draft, gets the nod over veteran Kyle Boller, out with an injured shoulder, and Troy Smith, the second-year pro who has battled a tonsil infection the last week.

The 18th overall selection from Delaware started the final two preseason games for the Ravens and appeared to get more comfortable with each snap.

Awesome draft, or most awesomest draft?

Here's the draft from one of the players in my regular league (a first-timer):

Calne Vikings
1. (4) Plaxico Burress
2. (13) Minnesota

Its going to be hilarious watching this guy from Delaware shred the Bengals defense.

Edit: That looks horrible! :lol Okay, yours is much better.

It would have been even more entertaining if I hadn't missed out on Peyton Manning in round two by one pick. :( (It's a two-QB league). And if the connection hadn't dropped and auto-picked Larry Johnson for me before I could get back online. :(

The Vikings team gets better and better. Highlights include (obviously) Plax at #4 overall, a defence in round 2, but also Keith Zinger (a seventh round rookie recently cut by the Atlanta Falcons), Rudi 'Cut' Johnson (Yahoo's fault, to be fair) and Jaymar Johnson - I still don't know who he is, but he wasn't even on the KUBIAK list I was working from.

Nice, a KUBIAK list! +1 respect! Only wish that thing didn't cost money, I hate spending money on fantasy stuff.

Also, it always cracks me up when fantasy rookies draft for shit. Do they not even look around online a little bit for some cheat sheets or something before they draft?

I love Kubiak soo much... IF they don't have him, god knows how bad a pick it was.

God, and Wikipedia...

Jaymar Johnson (born July 10, 1984 in Gary, Indiana) is an American football wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Vikings in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He played college football at Jackson State. On August 30th, 2008, it was reported by Vikings.com that Johnson did not make the 53-man roster and was released by the Vikings

Yeah, me too. But I always end up splashing out for KUBIAK and StatTracker.

They'd generally do better if they just let the autopick do its work.
