No shit. The way the Texans defense played all preseason makes me very weary.
As a Steelers fan I am scared of Houston. Pretty much any team with competent or good defensive line is going scares the hell out of me. The Steelers O-line has been that bad over the last 2 years and it might actually be worse this year. Though, I don't think it is possible for the Steelers to play any worse than they did at the center position last year.

I still think the Steelers should and will win this game, but I won't be surprised if the Texans defense capitalizes on the weak offensive line of the Steelers and scores some points early.

"Jay Cutler is about to become a star in this league," Cottrell said. "I know it's coming. You could see it last year. He is a good, smart, young quarterback who can be a star for a long time. He is a guy we are going to have to worry about."

2008 = The year Cutler took over the NFL

Not that. I just get superstitious when lots of people are picking them to win.

I think our defense will be fine, we wont be top at anything but it will be good enough. To be honest offensive and special teams turnovers is what killed us last season, I dont care if you have the best defense in the league when you turn the ball over the most out of anyone your defense is going to be hard pressed to stop the other team.

Good lord, Richard Collier gets fucking shot outside an apartment, not a nightclub, not out partying and ESPN is asking "Why isn't something being done about the Jaguars players?"

Fuck them.

Maybe staying at your apartment is considered a questionable and dangerous activity in Jacksonville and instead going to a night club and partying all night is considered the safe and smart thing to do?

I don't think we can really say for sure either way until we get some crackerjack reporting from Chris Mortenson.

Um. He was out partying. He'd driven to the apartment from a nightclub with two girls he and Pettway had picked up at the club. It was their apartment, not his.

Edit: Or this is how I saw the story reported earlier.

Still man, that's nothing bad. The whole situation is fucked up.

Would it help if one of the girls were engaged?

A man interviewed outside the apartment Tuesday morning said one of the women is his fiancee. They're 22 and 26 years old, but the Times-Union is not identifying them because the shooter or shooters remain at large.

If you are rich and a celebrity, nothing good happens when you are out at 2:30 in the morning. They met these chicks at a club and go back to THEIR apartment? I am taking them chicks to a hotel or my crib, but not hanging out in some apartment parking lot. Sounds like straight set-up to me. At the very least, it was bad judgement. Gotta be smarter than that.

I mean, I am not rich or anything, but sitting in an Escalade in a parking lot at that time of the night would make me nervous.

Get used to it, Sean Taylor gets murdered inside his home while sleeping with his future wife and baby. The man dies protecting his family and all I heard was Colin Cowherd saying that Sean brought it on himself. (almost saying he had it coming)

It's pathetic and it's sad. A man is dieing and all they wanna do is bitch.

Ouch. "Honey, he was just coming back to my apartment so I could get his autograph for you, I SWEAR"

IMO, it is a f'd up situation. You have to be really careful if you are in that position. You are not untouchable. You cannot make yourself a target and be out that late for some trim.

A lot of these guys get into their college programs/a professional league and never learn street smarts. You'd think they'd realize they are perfect targets but it never crosses their mind.

We’re shocked and deeply saddened by this morning’s news about Richard Collier. We have been informed that Richard has had surgery and he’s in critical but stable condition. The entire Jaguars family is praying for Richard and his family at this time.

Lost all respect for Mike Wilbon when he said Taylor had it coming to him.. This is when everyone assumed it was about the ATVs.

This is why athletes need bodyguards. Bodyguards make those decisions for you and help to keep athletes from getting into a bad situation.

Athletes are in a no win situation, but with their salaries and the perks that come with it I can't really feel bad for them. Most people would kill to be in their shoes even with all the shit that comes with it.

Eh, I don't think they could afford a bodyguard. Collier's a backup and Pettway's out of a job. They were never paid that much.:/

So you're saying you shot Collier for his shoes? Cold.

You and I both. Seriously disgusting and unprofessional. I wouldn't be shocked if that hurt his career a bit and if so, he deserves it.

Anyone doing another fantasy league or two?
i'm down. got the day off... just gimme a time and place if you guys want one more league

Barry Sanders actually did an interview? That's crazy, sure he was pimpin' Madden, but still, you never see him give interviews. Although he said that Mojo was the closest to him on the field.:D

Nah, I think the closest to him is Bush. Reggie Bush runs exactly like Sanders. He just isn't very good.

Jones is a good back, but he doesn't really remind me of Sanders.

We're trying to get another league going in the online thread, but if somebody wants to take charge on that it would be great. Want to be in at least one GAF league this season...

I could have told you it was horrible by looking at the box art. Even the players look uncomfortable being on the cover.

Saints go into game 1 with nobody having any fucking idea how Shockey is going to fit into the offense.

This is going to be fucking great.

That's your problem?

Bucs are going into game 1 with our starting QB and #1 WR playing a total of ONE pre-season game (JGar played 1 half, and Galloway hasn't been seen since 2007)

It's going to be the Wild Card game all over again!

The Saints will be fine as long the O-line decides to show up before the team goes 0-4 like last season. Hopefully Deuce can contribute and Reggie can avoid getting killed on the flats again...

*I fucking hate Tampa Bay

Shockey. :(

I have a question for fantasy GAF. Do I start the Jags D against Tennessee, or the Packers D against Minnesota? I am leaning towards the Packers D, because Jackson sux and Peterson is overrated.

I thought you were an NFC south fan?

America
North Carolina (Bobcats, Panthers, UNC)
Conference

I'd only tolerate the Bucs this season once they've knocked some non NFC South teams out of the playoff race, that way I could do the same thing the NFC East people have been doing for decades.

Hating each other's guts? You don't need to wait until playoff time for that.

I'm sure that when the Giants are sitting at home this season watching the Cowboys win the NFC championship, you guys will be the main ones yelling "NFC East is the toughman conference!"

:lol!

I will say NFC East is the toughest division, because that's the truth, but I will be rooting against the Cowgirls.

A couple of years ago, I think it was '03, I was so pissed off that the Eagles beat whoever it was in the playoffs that I said a couple of off color things to the girl I was dating and was dumped the next day. :lol

Well atleast we agree on the East being the toughest division. So you would cheer for the pats if Dallas played them in the super bowl thats cold blooded?

So I asked the Magic 8-Ball if the Redskins would beat the Giants on Thursday. This is the answer I got:

stupid magic 8ball.

Completely separate note, just won two tickets through work to the Bills vs Seattle game. First non-skins game NFL game I've been to, hopefully it won't disappoint. So far I've only been to two NFL games, Skins vs Chargers overtime game in 05 and Skins vs Carolina in 06. Both were amazing (well the first ones ending wasn't, but the rest of it was).

I'd never root for Dallas or Philly for that matter. I did root for NY last year though. A dallas vs NE super bowl would probably be the first super bowl I missed.

Order of Hate:
1: Dallas
.
.
.
.
.
Way 2nd: NE
3rd: Philly (maybe even tied)
.
.
4th: NYG

I'd cheer for the Pats in that case. Fuck the Cowboys, now and forever. If people think the rise of bandwagon Patriots fans after their SuperBowl wins was bad, it's not even close to the Cowboys. They invented the bandwagon fan.
