Full Chiefs cuts reported:

ESPN said:
...

The Chiefs also cut 20 other players to trim their roster to 53 by Saturday's deadline. The list included Casey Printers, a former Canadian Football League star who had been projected as the third quarterback.
...

The Chiefs also released wide receivers Brad Ekwerekwu, Chris Hannon and Ean Randolph; safety Marlon Fair; defensive tackles Kiki Gonzalez and Patrice Majondo-Mwamba; fullback Gilbert Harris; defensive ends Michael Heard and Montez Murphy; guards Rob Hunt and Tre Stallings; tackle James Newby; running back Marcus O'Keith; cornerbacks Justin Phinisee and Will Poole; linebackers Nick Reid and Rich Scanlon; quarterback Jeff Terrell; and tight end Keith Willis.

Ok.
Printers is going back to the CFL. That's cool; he didn't fit in our system and would be more like Vick Lite, and KC doesn't really need a running back with an arm. The troubling thing is that they also let go of Jeff Terrell (our Princeton QB). What's the problem with that? Uh...that leaves us only TWO freaking quarterbacks dude! And we all know Herm's history with QBs. I guess that makes us major players in the Leftwich deal then. Or perhaps something else? Maybe Terrell makes the practice squad. My big problem with bringing in Leftwich is that it messes up an already messed up situation. More average qb's just makes it even harder when somebody goes down, and even harder for the young kid (croyle) to gain confidence. Ugh.

Disappointed to see Hannon (WR) go, too. Thought he had a great preseason if not a great camp, and Brodie had developed some chemistry with him. We knew Randolf was a goner once we got the guy out of Detroit to return kicks. Pretty much every one else was expected.

KC's 10 Big Questions of the Moment
1. QB - Can Huard do as well this year, this time as the starter? First time in 11 years. Can Brodie overcome any possible veteran signings that might hurt his ego (Leftwich)? Can either survive behind a suspect offensive line?

2. RB - How quickly can LJ be in 25-28 carry shape? Hopefully quickly. Can Bennett legitimately take 10-15 carries per game w/o getting hurt? Can our new kid Kolby Smith make any impact at all? Doesn't look like Boomer Grigsby got cut, so that means we got ourselves a real bruiser at fullback, fellas.

3. Offensive Line - McIntyre should be back for week 1, right? RIGHT? We'd better hope so. His replacement, Svitech, has been given the nickname HIGHWAY 71.

4. WR - Couple new cats in town. Bowe was our number 1 this year and looks to contribute immediately. Sippio looks like he can catch some hella slants (thanks to Terrell). Kennison is the best 10 yard-out runner in the league. Webb and Parker are major suspects.

6. D-Line - Can Tank & Turk and the most underrated player on the team, Wilkerson, stop the run? Hali and Allen are too busy eating quarterbacks for breakfast.

7. LBs - Johnson, Harris, and Edwards are fine. But what about K Bell? The cover 2 requires them to occasionally drop into coverage...and bell is a complete liability in coverage. Can this be addressed through proper play calling?

8. D-backs - Law, Surtain, Pollard and Page will be fine. But the Herm's style of cover 2 has a lot of subbing in and out. Can Page find a way to tackle consistently and Law find his footing? What about Wesley? We're supposed to be trading him...and it's a week until game 1.

9. Kicker - Holy shit we got a problem guys. Our kicker was 50% in preseason games. THAT IS NOT GOOD, especially for an offense that more or less prides itself in getting to the 35 yard line. We need an answer, and we need it now.

10. Offensive Play Calling - Solari. Get that name in your heads, because if KC explodes with an offense you could never have imagined, he can take the credit. Otherwise, it's his ass. We can not continue to play RUN RUN PASS and be expected to do anything.

Answer these few questions and we have a legitimate shot at a 10-win season. Seriously.

LMFAO the Raiders cut Quentin Moses. I think its confirmed he'll go on and have a good NFL career. But honestly, who cuts a day one draft pick?

The Cardinals do:P

Buster Davis was cut by them also. Their 3rd rounder linebacker!

I was just about to edit my post to include Buster Davis. How do they do that!? I would love to give Davis a shot since Brandon Moore apparently forgot how to tackle in the off-season.

You guys don't get it. Your only hope for a decent season is to hand it off to Jacobs 4 out of every five plays, and then on the fifth one have ShEli toss a little dumpy pass to Shockey. The Man Beast Brandon Jacobs will be your salvation, not Vagina Manning.
Maybe he was referring to the Thrillsbury Doughboy.

Denver should have an easy win in week 1 but then again we have played like ass and lost on the road to inferior teams the last 2 years to start off the season. Hopefully this is gets off to a good start.

I think you might be in for a trap game, honestly. LOLsman and co. have something to prove, and Cutler just WANTS to come unraveled, you know. They might actually be the most overrated team in the league.

I just can't see Losman outthinking Champ Bailey and Dre Bly... BIG L for Buffalo.

inferior teams? miami maybe, but we were better than you guys last year. we basically brought plummers career to an end.

How long before the fox TV schedule gets released?

Better not be any Brett Favre cock sucking special after the Packers/Eagles on both Green Bay Fox and Milwaukee Fox! I want to watch the Bears play! I always have other methods to see the game, but I want to relax at home on my TV and watch it!

Oh and let me be the first to officially pick Chicago on Sunday to win! I'll make my other picks later. :D

I think the more hilarious thing is that they cut a safety (Donovin Darius).

P.S. Goodbye Zack Crockett. ;_;

My ass you were a better team. I would love to see a team that is .500 in the NFC try to have a winning season in a real NFL conference. You won last year because Jake Judas Plummer didn't bother to show up, plain and simple.

look im not one to defend rams fans, but you guys were 1-3 against the NFC last year, including being embarrassed at home in the final game of the season with a team who had nothing to play for except keeping you out of the playoffs. you finished 9-7 and that is taking into account that you beat up on the raiders twice and cleveland.

i'm not sayin', just sayin!

Since we do these picks in the NFL thread every week, I think we should all try to keep our results from each week and just post a note in the next thread (with your weekly picks) so we can all keep a record. I always join the Pick 'em league, but sometimes I forget to do my picks, while I never forget to do it on here.

Yea and wow this stuff is easy when you just look at everything black and white. We lost to the Rams because Plummer played the worst game of his career. The defense played outstanding considering the circumstances Plummer put them in and Bell averaged something like 6 yards per carry (or higher I think) on the ground. Seattle beat us solely because it was Cutler's first start and he played like it was. I am remembering the play where he it getting thrown down and just flings the ball up into the air and Seattle catches it for a touchdown. We lost to San Fran because we lost Cutler for part of the game (long enough for Plummer to come in and throw a clutch interception) and we lost Darrent Williams for what turned out to be eternity and the Niners went to town on poor Foxworth from that point on. Sorry but the Broncos 1-3 record against the NFC West doesn't change the fact that compared to the AFC the conference is a joke.

Luck DOES happen in the NFL from time to time and the team that played the best doesn't always win. Hell we got outplayed by Kansas City and Cincinnati last year in 2 games but still won both of those. I never said Denver was some awesome team last year, only that they were better than the Rams and that the NFC isn't near the conference the AFC is.

you blame plummer for the broncos loss to the niners? cutler threw the most costly INT, which was returned for a TD. also, the broncos had 1st and goal on us 3 times and came away with 6 points or something like that. that's not on plummer. that game had no business even going into OT and you guys were fortunate it was that close.

i agree the AFC is the better conference, but the broncos wouldn't exactly be superbowl contenders even if they were in the NFC. and just because the AFC probably has the best 3 teams in the NFL doesn't mean the conference overall is leaps and bounds above the NFC.

the AFC, while having the top 3 teams, also likely has the top 2 worst teams in the NFL. people overrate the AFC big time.

Where did I blame Plummer for the Niners loss? I only blamed Plummer for the Rams loss. The Niners loss was a multitude of things that just added up to a colossal choke job. The Niners won that game but line those same 2 teams up 10 times and most people would rightfully take the Broncos 8 out of 10 times.

Again, where did I say the Broncos were SB contenders? Or even a great AFC team? Saying the Broncos are better than the Rams and that the AFC > NFC is not saying Denver was close to winning the Super Bowl.

Baltimore
Cincinnati
New England
Indianapolis
San Diego

I would be confident placing any of these teams in any division in the NFC and betting money that they would win the division and win it easily.

Denver
NY Jets
Miami
Pittsburgh

I would be equally confident placing these teams in the NFC would be an automatic playoff berth and strongly contend for a division. As far as I see, the only real contenders in the NFC are Seattle if healthy, New Orleans, Chicago if Grossman isn't unleashing the dragon, or Dallas if healthy. Anyone else is just in the large pool of decent NFC teams playing catch up. And I would take any of those first group of teams listed in a Super Bowl situation against any of the NFC teams listed.

The NFC was so bad last year that Dallas and the Giants absolutely imploded and stumbled down the stretch like few teams have before and they both clinched playoff spots. Philly lost their best player, had Jeff ****ing Garcia step in and lead them to the second round of the playoffs. The Bears won the conference with a QB who actually made Joke Plummer look good on a lot of Sundays. The AFC is simply the superior conference.

like fmt said, the AFC is just top-heavy, not necessarily better from top to bottom.

denver would not have won the nfc west last year, period.

"This is what's great about sports. This is what the greatest thing about sports is. You play to win the game. Hello? You play to win the game. You don't play it to just play it. That's the great thing about sports: you play to win, and I don't care if you don't have any wins. You go play to win. When you start tellin' me it doesn't matter, then retire. Get out! 'Cause it matters." -

"Let's not get this thing twisted and think we backed into this deal. We didn't lose, we won. Every team that played this weekend played at home and had an opportunity to get into the playoffs just like us. We just happened to win. What's wrong with that? So, let's not get it twisted and say, 'Well, they're lucky.' We didn't get lucky. We won."

Cant wait to see what great quotes herm brings this year
