“You drive by that Krispy Kreme, you see that sign that say ‘Hot,’ you pull your car in there and you get me a dozen glazed donuts and you make sure they are on my desk on Saturday morning. I don’t care about anything else.”

– Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards, hazing Chiefs rookie wide receiver Dwayne Bowe

“And the sign gotta say … and the sign gotta say … gotta say ‘Hot,’ gotta’ say ‘Hot.’”

– Edwards, still doing his thing

“Make sure when you get them donuts, make sure you ain’t eatin’ any them donuts.”

– Edwards

“You leave them donuts alone.”

– Edwards (from the HBO “Hard Knocks: Chiefs Training Camp” documentary)

I think Herm Edwards just talks to be heard:P

Best article on stats in football ever?

Over the summer, the Football Outsiders research staff discovered a statistical trend so revolutionary that it will change the way you think about football.

We stumbled upon this trend by accident, like paleontologists tripping over a stone that turns out to be the skull of some new species of dinosaur. Once unearthed, this trend changed our entire football zeitgeist. It’s a powerful, unarguable fact that may alter your viewing or wagering habits. It may even change the way the game is played.

Here’s what we discovered: teams that execute two or more “quarterback kneel” plays win 90 percent of the time. Teams that execute one or fewer kneels only win 46 percent of the time. And while winning teams knelt 1.65 times per game from 2000-06, losing teams have averaged just 0.25 kneels per game.*

The data is clear and irrefutable: teams that kneel on the ball win far more often than teams that don’t. What’s more, the margin of victory correlates closely with the number of kneels: teams that kneel more win far more blowouts, while teams that kneel infrequently are involved in far more tight victories.

There’s only one conclusion to be drawn from the data. If you want to win, you have to call more kneel plays.

Seriously, read the full article. It's very well written, insightful, and challenges common football knowledge.

Is this real!!!!??

http://gcobb.com/content/view/500/1/

Here are some of his comments in a piece called 10 Questions For Terrell Owens:

"Do you regret how your relationship with quarterback Donovan McNabb turned sour in Philadelphia? David Sansone, PHILADELPHIA

You know what? I do regret some of the things that happened. Donovan is a great guy. Honestly, I do miss being around him. I learned some things from Donovan. It was a bad situation, and if there were a way I could go back and handle some things differently, I definitely would.

If you could choose any quarterback in the NFL to be the No. 1 in Dallas, who would it be and why? Patrick McLeod, PANAMA CITY

Man, that's a tricky question. I don't want to cause trouble ... O.K., I would say Peyton Manning, then Donovan McNabb. Peyton has history on his side, with his dad being a quarterback, and you can't say enough about how studious he is in the film room."

I'm sure ESPN would be dedicating 6 hours of programming to it if he actually said that, but :lol :lol :lol :lol if its true. Its nothing bad, but you know ESPN and sports writers will spin it like he is totally throwing Romo under the bus. I defend T.O. but he is so fucking gullable. The media easily gets him to say something that could get interpreted in a negative way and then they run with it but he NEVER learns. He should've given the obligatory, generic, "the guy whos my QB right now" answer, that smart atheletes always give when asked such questions and left it at that.

Picking Tony Romo over Peyton Manning as your QB is a sure sign that you're absolutely batshit insane. Nice to see an honest answer from a player, and if Tony Romo gets upset at being told he's not as good as Peyton Manning, then that's a problem he's going to have to learn to cope with - along with everyone in the league except for Tom Brady (who will never learn to cope with it).

But answering a similar question 2 years ago is what started the shit-storm that eventually got him kicked out of Philly--o nly then he said Favre. I'm sure we've all been out with a girl and seen a girl that blows her out the water looks wise, but you wouldn't say "Damn I would totally rather be fucking her" to that female friend would you?

Ah, so that's where I'm going wrong with women!

If he had said anyone but Peyton Manning we would know the man was insane. Peyton Manning is far and away the best QB in the league right now. Proof! His second choice is a debatable, though. At least he didn't go with Carson Palmer...

Well, I'd go with Carson. But I'd be thinking of Peyton.

I'm pretty sure he got it for a QB or 2 he was coaching at the time:P

Actually he was suspended for using it himself. It's not entirely out of the question that he may have supplied/helped direct a few players towards a source as well, but the suspension was for using a banned substance.

Hahahahaha.

No wonder the Bears let him go in the offseason!

...wasn't it for diabetes? Kinda shitty that he got suspended, regardless. What is he going to do, have better practices?

Caldwell would've been buried behind Moss, Stallworth, Welker and possibly Washington anyway.

Cooley re-signed! Even if the Skins have a shitty, losing season I can't imagine him not having a Pro-Bowl (>7 TDs, >900 YDs receiving) this year.

Week 1

Thursday, Sept. 6

New Orleans at Indianapolis A team of destiny?

Sunday, Sept. 9

Philadelphia at Green Bay McNabb just WINS GAMES.

Atlanta at Minnesota Brian Brohm future!

Miami at Washington The Skins D-line actually gets 2 sacks and 1 Defensive TD! :O

New England at N.Y. Jets

Tennessee at Jacksonville Can Garrard deliver or will MJD be the savior?

Denver at Buffalo JP Losman is going to get picked like a cherry tree.

Pittsburgh at Cleveland

Carolina at St. Louis It's the beginning of the end for Carolina. Steve Smith #1 Fantasy WR?! ROFL! :lol

Kansas City at Houston Yes, despite KC's troubles, it's fucking Houston! :lol

Tampa Bay at Seattle

Chicago at San Diego

Detroit at Oakland CJ at least 1 TD!

N.Y. Giants at Dallas Dallas rapes NY's shitty D.

Monday, Sept. 10

Baltimore at Cincinnati Tough call here.

Arizona at San Francisco The NFC West Champs flex their muscle.

Yup.

Caldwell > Welker, R. Moss, Stallworth, Gaffney

Hell, Caldwell is a reason they lost to Indy. Wide open and drops a ball. Not once, but twice.

See-ya.

i love how people in the dallas market get stuck watching the redskins play the dolphins, meanwhile everyone around them watch the texans play the chiefs.

well, if the Cowboys weren't playing on Sunday night, all the Cowboys games are shown locally in Austin.

as for getting the Titans, I guess they think there are more Vince Young fans than Texans fans which is probably true in Austin.

cowboys players basically feel what i said couple days ago

http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/nfl/2007/09/decision_to_cut_glenn_angers_w_1.html

IRVING - There's unrest in the Cowboys locker room after the team cut Aaron Glenn and Junior Glymph.

"I'm pissed off," safety Roy Williams said of the Glenn whacking.

Williams said the move leaves a significant leadership void.
Several others agreed, although linebacker Akin Ayodele took a philosophical approach.

"It's sad. It's disappointing. But it's part of the game," Ayodele said.

None of them said the obvious: Glenn, even at age 35, is a better corner than either Jacques Reeves or Nate Jones, both of whom could be called on to fill in for Terence Newman should his foot injury keep him out of the Giants game Sunday.

i have no idea what they were trying to gain by the cuts

Jacksonville, by the way, claimed Glenn on Monday. The Cowboys still must pay him $500,000 this season.

Meanwhile, linebacker Bradie James said he was surprised Glymph was cut, given Greg Ellis' future is uncertain and rookie Anthony Spencer is struggling at times at strongside linebacker.

Free-agent defensive end Simeon Rice, one of the few potential impact players remaining in free agency and a guy who enters 2007 as the second-leading active sacker in the league, reached a contract agreement with the Denver Broncos on Monday evening.

Rice, 33, arrived in Denver on Sunday, dined that evening with team officials, and then chose the Broncos' contract offer over the proposal the St. Louis Rams submitted.

According to ESPN.com's John Clayton, Rice's deal with the Broncos is for one year and $3 million. He accepted the terms once the Broncos decided to guarantee the contract. Along with the $3 million, the Broncos gave him the chance to make another $1 million through performance-based incentives.

i think it's because he's a panthers fan and you insulted steve smith (and the panthers)

Well TBH I'm really not ragging on Smith too much, it's more of a dig at Delhomme and how it looks like he's begun the decline into mediocrity.

Then again, put Smith on any NFC East team and I don't think you'll see him as dominant as he was the past two to three years in NFC South....just sayin'! :lol

You do realize that the Redskins had the worst secondary in the league last year. But you're right, Delhomme couldn't even exploit your crappy secondary.

Bring in Carr!
