Not sure whether to start McNabb or JTO this Sunday, as both face some pretty crappy pass defenses. :/

It's pretty obvious that is what happened and happens all the time in football. The pile is the absolute worst part of the football field.

That may be true but...

1. He wears a visor and they still got him.
2. He was bleeding pretty bad out of his right eye.

I was actually shocked at how bad it was.

"I told him "you're out of football prison now""

Matt Millen's wife.

WTF? He was the warden of a prison for Lions fans, not an inmate!

JTO. He's facing the banged up defense and has a healthy offense by comparison
and dare i say the 49ers offense certainly does looks decent
. Honestly though, if Westbrook is a go at 100% with no questions lingering I'd start Donovan.

How about JTO vs Trent Edwards??

I was thinking JTO as well, but the Bills are playing STL Rams. And aren't they the worst defense in the NFL so far? Makes me want to change.

Trent Edwards by a longshot. Dude's been playing great against good secondaries. Can't wait to see how he plays against a horrible one.

I am sure the Ravens did something to deserve it.

Holy crap, I have the same problem. I'm worried one hit on McNabb to his chest will send him out of the game. I'm leaning towards JTO myself..

On a side note, Desean Jackson or Chris Chambers? Chambers just doesn't get a lot of looks, but he's been getting that one deep ball for a td at least once a game.. Arggg

It's probably pre karma for the Raven's guaranteed injuring of Roethlisberger.
I hate the Ravens.

I have never before a team that had so many murderous assholes. They always fuck up half our team and they are definitely Big Ben's kryptonite.

justin smith > jared allen. not only that, but we didn't have to give up any draft picks to get him. i don't know why anyone would say otherwise.

would you rather have:

justin smith outright. same exact stats as jared allen, only he also has an interception and a forced fumble

or

jared allen. less FF's, less interceptions, and it cost you a 2nd round pick (or was it first round? i dont know)

the answer is clear except to vikings fans!

p.s. not only are their stats basically even, but allen has A LOT more help on the line than smith has. we have nothing on that line but smith!

I haven't seen Justin Smith play this year, but he must be playing like an all-star if he's outplaying Allen. And if that's the case then you got a steal, because I'm definitely not missing the 1st and the 3rd we paid for him. We've maintained our awesome run defense and increased our pass rush *10 from last year. We're finally getting pressure from the front four, allowing our secondary to not get chewed up *quite* as bad. He's drawing double teams, drawing holding calls, and pulling mad Manning faces
although I'm pretty sure our team total for Manning faces was way higher last year :D
. He's been worth every penny so far.

If only he could've pulled the win too.

the numbers are there Slo. same amount of sacks, same amount of tackles, more interceptions and more forced fumbles. and we gave up nothing for justin smith! plus, he is doing all this with less around him than jared allen has. jared allen is a great player, i'm not saying justin smith is drastically superior, but they are performing at an equal level (by the numers justin smith is actually performing better).

plus we keep our first and third!

Niners set to retire Young's No. 8 against Pats

The 49ers will officially retired quarterback Steve Young's No. 8 jersey when the club plays against the Patriots on Oct. 5.

Young will become the 11th player in team history to receive this prestigious accolade.

Past 49ers to have their jersey retired are:

No. 12 John Brodie (1973)

No. 16 Joe Montana (2000)

No. 34 Joe Perry (1971)

No. 37 Jimmy Johnson (1994)

No. 39 Hugh McElhenny (1971)

No. 42 Ronnie Lott (2003)

No. 70 Charlie Krueger (1974)

No. 73 Leo Nomellini (1971)

No. 79 Bob St. Clair (2001)

No. 87 Dwight Clark (1988)

* * *

Young was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005. The 49ers have also unofficially retired Jerry Rice's No. 80 jersey for games. Rice will probably be honored with a retired jersey some time after he's inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Anyone else think that Trent Green might get seriously hurt on Sunday? That oline in St. Louis might give him permanent injury.

the line was only responsible for 1 sack vs philly and 0 vs seattle. both teams have good pass rushes. the problem has been the TE's and backs blitz pickup, so hopefully buffalo will not blitz much.

It's really amazing to me with all the new studies and precautions being taken pertaining to concussions that he is cleared to play. I certainly wouldn't want to be the guy that hits him and turns him into a vegetable.

What about against the Giants?

I was just interested in the stats. We have a scheme very similar to the Eagles.

i think it was 4, the interior line was just dominated by tuck and robbins

just went back and looked at it. 3 sacks occured during a 4 man rush by the giants. the 3others were because of the QB holding the ball too long/no safety valve/not enough blockers. they really went after goldberg and leckey on the inside, but theyre backups. so hopefully once bell and romberg get back, the line will solidify a little bit.

pace and barron pass protected very well on the outside, all the sacks came up the middle.

I'm sorry, what? WHAT?! I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER THE SOUND OF THE ENHANCED CROWD NOISE AT QWEST FIELD!

Redskins fans: still thinking they were beat by speakers twice in the playoffs.

It's not the Stadium, It's the 12th Man. /cue NFL music.

the division is ours for the taking, and we're going to take it. we already went into your house and took care of business. now we're going to lay waste to the rest of the NFC in short fashion, with examples being made of philly and dallas along the way.

I applaud your fanaticism. God knows you've been starved for wins.

But Old Man Bruce (and crazy ricocheting passes for pick-6's) will not save you from the talons of the Seahawks again.

There's little to no chance of the SeaChokes coming into San Fran and beating us. They should've gotten the job done and Quest if they wanted a W against us this year. Especially considering we pretty much took the entire first half off.

*rolls eyes.

And why do you think a Seahawks team that took you to overtime with 6 of its receivers injured, has no chance whatsoever at beating you when it gets its top 2 receivers back from injury and is no longer fooled by Bruce? (we already took care of Gore.)

It was a close game that was decided by a couple plays. We have just as much of a chance of beating you at your home (if not more) than you did at ours.

i see what you are saying, but as bad as the seahawks were beat up we still obliged you in the run game. there is no way you guys are getting 150 on the ground on us again. there is also no way your D is going to pressure JTO like they did in seattle. it was so loud that heitman HAD to tip the snap to the other offensive players. basically the seahawks knew exactly when we were going to snap it. that's not going to happen in san fran. and if JTO can shred your HEALTHY defense for 300+ yards in his 2nd start ever with that crowd, what will he do at home with a few more games under his belt and a better connection with our receivers?

it will be a good game though!

It's tough to judge whether Seattle's running game is for real giving we've faced the Rams and the D LoLand used. (I'm counting the opener as a dud given the unit was fresh and had no timing together). However, given how many tackles Julius and Ducket outright broke against the Rams I'm inclined to think its for real. Ok, it's the Rams but still, broken tackles and running lanes indicate at least something is going right. The Giants game will give more information on this.

Certainly Seattle won't get the pressure it did, but many of those sacks were from JTO hanging onto the ball too long, not Seattle completely overwhelming the line. So while it made a big number on the box score for the game, when JTO had someone open he had the time to throw, it didn't seem to tip the balance one way or the other, so it's a wash for the coming contest. (IMO)

Of JTO's 321 yds, 153 came on 4 receptions to Bruce. Frankly, that's just embarrassing. And you can bet like hell that Mora and the rest of the secondary will not let that happen again. This is a secondary that was one of the elite units in the NFL last year, and despite Russell being a slow white boy with no skills (kinda like me, really) you can bet the rest will gameplan the fuck out of Bruce to prevent those big 3rd down plays that won you the game last time.

But, like you said, it will be a good game.
