Interesting little tidbit, I'm sure Ray is just broken up about it. :lol I only watched him for a few minutes but I thought he was awful and most of the ppl in the NHL threads here didn't seem terribly impressed.
When stuff like this happens I have to doubt my... doubt in the existence of god(s). (The real kind, hockey gods already proved themselves to me.)

i never saw hull but ferraro is a freaking douche bag and a huge edmonton homer. he makes me want to rip his eyes out he's so stupid.

Then you would have liked Hull insulting Ray's hockey skills.

I disagree, I think he's one of the better analysts out there.

He was doing color commentary for the Oilers' Sportsnet telecasts for the last couple of seasons. Having watched majority of those games, he was never biased. Sometimes, it would seem like he would always praise the team playing against Edmonton a little more.

You might as well call Jim Hughson a Vancouver Homer 'cause he does the Canuck games on Sportsnet.

:lol There's something wrong with that picture.

Here ya go:

What happened in Ottawa yesterday never would happen in Toronto. Should a general manager, any general manager, get the Leafs into the final, hell, they'd build a statue for the guy outside the Air Canada Centre

There would be a parade for finishing second, a civic celebration, books written

:lol

Wow...JFJ is such a puppet...:lol

I'm sick and tired of people bashing JFJ. As I mentioned before he's laying the foundation of a solid team for years and years to come. Flash in the pan GMs come and go but JFJ will be remembered as a visionary by hockey pundits in the future. The Leafs are putting together a solid core of young players who will one day be seen as key components to championship teams in Toronto. JFJ knows what he's doing, you have to dig deep, lay a solid foundation and build from there. If you try to pour the cement when it's too wet, you get problems. Slow and steady, make sure you're on solid footing and away you go. The Leafs will be a force in years to come, and JFJ will be heralded across the hockey world as a man among men.

My sarcasm meter may be busted because I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.

I loved Hull on the NBC broadcasts. Always entertaining, not afraid to speak his mind. Ray I can't stand.

Hull was the stupidest NHL analyst I've ever seen, I've never seen anyone talk more yet say absolutely nothing than him. Ferraro looked like Socrates next to him.

I guess Washington's new jerseys were leaked today. More to come this week.

Looks kinda crappy to me. Atleast the colours are nice. A few fan made designs were much better than what they came up with.

Another shot of it. Seems like these are legit. Boston showed their new uni's earlier this week to media people, so they might be the next to leak.

Still waiting for the new Canuck unis. London Drugs, Shoppers, Zellers, etc are having a firesale on the whale logo stuff.

I like that Capitals jersey, the retro logo is cool. I think the Senators are most likely ditching their 3D head logo and sticking with the much better 2D one.

Also, I hope Scott Niedermayer doesn't retire, but he has absolutely nothing to play for now after winning the cup this year, except money, and Scott doesn't seem like the type of player to play just for the money, so I can see why he would want to retire.

Huh!?!? Off to go shopping!

Is the Orca logo going? Are we getting our, um... 5th logo this year?

And that Caps logo is totally retro. I don't mind it I guess.

Hey guys. Our hockey team here that I play on is called the "Toronto Canucks" and we use that Orca logo. What's a good site where I can upload the image and post it here?

Try Tinypic(.com I think).

Love the throwback on the Caps jersey but I really think it needs more armpit garnish. If the NHL wants to be a 21st century league they gotta go balls out with the armpit garnish.

Thanks Karakand.

So we play in a ball hockey league here in Toronto called the YCBHL and this is our third jersey. Our team captain owns his own sports store so we're always pimped out. Bags, shorts, sticks...you name it.

I just question why they used the Philadelphia Flyers colors.

They didn't, if you meant Washington? The colors are just messed up in those pictures. Here's the proper shades from their teaser site.

When the GOP controlled congress the Caps rocked blue unis.

Now that it's DNC time they go to red.

Someone should probably tell them they got it backwards...

MLSE could be set to manage Copps Coliseum and may consider airing Predators games on Leafs TV if the team, or any franchise, arrives in Hamilton.

In Tuesday's Hamilton Spectator, Steve Milton reports on rumblings within the southern Ontario entertainment industry that Jim Balsillie has made exploratory contact with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Limited about that very possibility.

http://www2.sportsnet.ca/blogs/hockey_hearsay/2007/06/19/leafs_balsillie_ready_to_deal/

If Balsillie has gotten MLSE on board it looks like nothing is stopping him. I still think moving a team to Hamilton is stupid might as well move it somewhere in the GTA if you can MLSE on board.

I am VERY curious to see what they do with the "Original Six" jerseys and more importantly can't wait to hear the bitching and moaning from the "hardcore" fanboys...

:lol

Dreger Says:
The Leafs will show interest in moving up, but don't have a lot to offer in a trade. The Toronto scouts may want Kevin Shattenkirk, but I think GM John Ferguson Jr. is going to play the veto card and add depth up front with Backlund. He's a bit of a gamble because of a bad knee, but he's got moxie.

Sounds like Antropov has a new roomie...

I like Hull, but the only time I found him easy to digest was when he was on with Don Cherry (of all people) on NBC. Something seemed natural about it.

Whereas the friction Hull had with Ferraro was pretty uncomfortable to watch.

Speaking of players turned commentators, I didn't mind seeing Simpson again...and I didn't mind JR on TSN, but he almost seemed like an attention whore heheh.

About the jerseys...anyone know how the Away jerseys will look like? I garner they'll just swap the white stripe and the base colour with each other...

Crude re-creation of Boston's jersey...I'm not sure if they'll go with yellow or perhaps they would stick with black.

I'm looking at that Bruins logo and see no difference from the old one. Am I missing something?

top left/bottom left of the B

also the black circle is slightly thicker encircling the logo and the yellow lines around the B don't merge with the yellow outline of the B

I'm not sure if this is legit or not, but I saw this on another site.

I think all teams have to follow that Reebok template, but looking at that Caps one they seem to havew some different lines.

The reason I didn't think it was legit is because the same site said this is the Caps new one :

ESPN's mock draft here:

Yo Manics...if JFJ is so hot than why were the Leafs inquiring about Brian Burke?:lol

The potential for change in the Toronto Maple Leafs front office remains a developing story.

Sources say the Leafs are strongly considering creating a new position of Director or President of Hockey Operations.

Names like Scotty Bowman, John Muckler and Craig Patrick have been tossed around the media, although Bowman is believed to be the candidate of choice.

That's not to say the Toronto Maple Leafs haven't investigated the availability of others…namely Anaheim Ducks general manager, Brian Burke.

Sources say Burke was contacted, but it never went any further than that, and based on Anaheim's recent Stanley Cup championship, the matter is closed.

While Toronto's ownership sorts out its front office, management will focus on trying to improve the hockey club and goaltending is an area that will be heavily discussed at the draft.

It's expected the Leafs will show interest in Minnesota's many Fernandez and San Jose's Vesa Toskala, however the focus may shift to the past and the return of Curtis Joseph to the Maple Leafs crease shouldn't be ruled out.

He still has game. He would provide a competitive environment to push Andrew Raycroft and perhaps, most importantly will be an affordable free agent.
