The potential for change in the Toronto Maple Leafs front office remains a developing story.
Sources say the Leafs are strongly considering creating a new position of Director or President of Hockey Operations.
Names like Scotty Bowman, John Muckler and Craig Patrick have been tossed around the media, although Bowman is believed to be the candidate of choice.
That's not to say the Toronto Maple Leafs haven't investigated the availability of others
namely Anaheim Ducks general manager, Brian Burke.
Sources say Burke was contacted, but it never went any further than that, and based on Anaheim's recent Stanley Cup championship, the matter is closed.
While Toronto's ownership sorts out its front office, management will focus on trying to improve the hockey club and goaltending is an area that will be heavily discussed at the draft.
It's expected the Leafs will show interest in Minnesota's many Fernandez and San Jose's Vesa Toskala, however the focus may shift to the past and the return of Curtis Joseph to the Maple Leafs crease shouldn't be ruled out.
He still has game. He would provide a competitive environment to push Andrew Raycroft and perhaps, most importantly will be an affordable free agent.
