Turco is an awesome goaltender, Dem is just jealous because he's stuck with Belfour who'll probably finish his season in diapers.

As for Turco...
We'll se how great he is when he DOESNT GET TO GO INTO THE FUCKING CORNER AND FUCK UP EVERY FUCKING OILERS DUMPIN
YOU SON OF A BITCH

Ahhhh...now I know why Dem's bitter....

Whole bunch of rumours floating around about a trade between VAN and FLA...

Team 1040 (David Pratt) just said that a possible Blockbuster is in the works. Here's the latest rumor he's hearing.

To Vancouver:
Jay Bouwmeester
Roberto Luongo

To Florida:
Ed Jovanovski
Dan Cloutier
Ryan Kesler

Same thing was mentioned in Pittsburgh...

Can Dan Clutchier use the 2.5 mil he's getting each year (with his new deal) to buy a new mask...please? That thing's so ugly, it's like watching Glenn Healy play....only with even more garbage goals. As a fellow Dan, I beg you to change your nasty-ass mask Mr Cloutier.

Florida would be stupid to let go of luongo. Good deal for vanbooger if it goes through.

Mike Keenan would be officially declared braindead if that idiotic trade happened. No way that would ever go through. David Pratt must be talking to Miss Cleo.

Hey fanatics,
Its good to see that this small hockey community is still kickin.

I used to post by the name of element x until my account was deleted probably due to inactivity.

Anyways, looks like my life has finally hit a smooth wave of regularity so I look foward to posting thoughts and talking trash all season long.

Anyways, initial notes on a few teams :

Pens - contender. nuff said. This team will have enough offense with just enough goaltending in TBO to take them to atleast the conference finals, and even farther if they have the heart.

Avs - Yeah, they lost some huge talent, but the bottom line is there still a force, and even
though i dont agree with this Abby over Kipper talk, I still think Abby is a good enough goalie to hold the fort down the line

Habs - All you have to do is go threw the names. Kovalev, Zednick, Koivu, Bonk, Ribero, Ryder, Bulis, Souray and Theodore as the big names with a solid line of second and third tier players to back them up. And praise the good lord, no more patrice breisbois. Its going to be a great year for the habs.

Leafs - There's always next year.

Backup is needed. Another delusional hater has joined the fray. :(

Welcome back, even if you do cheer for the Habs and hate everything I believe in.

I heard the same deal mentioned from another source, except it looked like this:

Vancouver:
Jaw Bouwmeester
Roberto Luongo
Something Husalias

Florida:
Ed Jovanovski
Dan Cloutier
Matt Cooke
Ryan Kesler

Personally I'd be conflicted about the deal, even though everyone says Vancouver would get the better deal. Getting Luongo would be awesome of course, but losing Cooke and Jovo and Kesler and getting Husalias and Bouwmeester comes off as a rebuilding trade, whereas the Canucks are going to want to be contenders this year. Bouwmeester for Jovo is fine I suppose considering the kid was good enough to play for Team Canada, but our roster already has holes in it as it is, we don't want to lose more players.

That and Luongo's contract would make it difficult to work with cap space. Why I'm even talking about all this is beyond me since I really don't see this happening. If it did though, I'd look forward to the next Vancouver - Florida blockbuster trade that happens in 5 or so years.

edit: and I have 3 Canucks jerseys- Bertuzzi, Cooke, and Jovo. I like my Cooke jersey :(

That was freakishly quick....some hockey-loving mod already gave Wolf a tag...on his first post. Who did such an act? Sundin has a gift for you.

Its going to be a great year for the habs as they'll be able to see what good hockey is once they get knocked out of the first round of the playoffs. I hope they'll bring fresh paper for which they can take notes.

Fixed it for ya.

Hey great tag ;)

Malakhov, you used to be naked koopa right?

and tedesco, no need to put me on the shit list, if you want an honest assesment of the leafs then here it is.

The loss of Gary, Joe and Alex really hurt this team. Bad. Let me say that I actually do think O'neal and Allision will have solid seasons and were great moves on the leafs part, but bottom line is they have no depth, and when a couple of star players get injured half way into the season, there going to have real problems.

This team wont win the cup this year, you know it, I know it, Leaf nation knows it. The salary cap screwed them over. It will still be a good season for the leafs, im sure they'll make it to the quarter finals, so have fun and we'll see how things look next season.

Anyways, im gonna be watching episodes 9 and 10 of band of brothers if anyone needs me.

As long as you know I was kidding...

For some reason I am not sold on Belfour tending the net. I just have this gut feeling that he's going to be sidelined by injuring early in the season, and that the Leafs are going to suffer as a result. Other than that, I am looking forward to the upcoming season.

As excited as I am for the Leafs, I might actually be more excited for the Bluejackets. I've never been to an NHL playoff game, but it looks like I might just get that chance this year.

I think it's great that this thread, after just a month, already has half the posts of the MLB thread, which has been around since the end of March :lol

My concern is that there is a difference between being a good minor league goalie and being a good NHL goalie. I don't know, the goalie backups for Toronto never really filled me with great comfort.

When the schedule was first released I checked and IIRC the Leafs play back-to-back 19 times so we know that Eddy will be sitting for at least 19 games this season injury or not. :(

Well, the canucks signed Cloutier, so I guess that ends the rumor mill right there.

Koopa whats the deal with Theodore? I cant find any news on tsn about Theo rejecting any offers..

what are the chances of him refusing a contract and going elsewhere?

Not the trade rumors, though. As unlikely as it was in the first place, sign-n-trade isn't that uncommon in today's sports atmosphere.

I still sort of expect Jovo to be dealt this year; apparently his family still lives in Florida?
