If you have to have it in America make it Vegas. Even if it fails, it would have been worth a shot. KC i don't buy at all.
I think Vegas has been Bettman's destination for the Coyotes for quite some time now... I really dont think that he is that blind and stubborn to the facts in front of him. They will never work in Phoenix..I think he was really just stunned by the Balsillie move.

If they must keep it in the States, move it to Seattle please.
It makes sense geographically too.
Yes, then the Canucks can proceed to beat the crap out of them :D We'll beat the Sounders first with our Whitecaps though ! CANADA, CANADA, CANADA !!! :D

asking dangerous questions
Nah. Team Seattle would probably end up winning the cup in their 3rd or 4th year or something... embarrassing the Canucks who took a lot longer to win their first cup.

Canucks have 0 cups oh snap lol go oilers!

:lol

A team in Seattle would be sweet too. I still think Milwaukee is the best choice right now though.

It's not all over for Balsillie, they still have to find a buyer willing to keep the team local. Bettman coming out and saying 4 other groups are willing to keep the team there could've just been bs to help sway the judge. Fact is, this would have been a piss poor precedent to set for skirting league rules through bankruptcy. Coyotes aren't in the clear yet by any means.

The judge was quite clear last week in his belief that the NHL was making up the "4 interested groups" deal.

Not bitter, just unsweetened
there's far better american cities for hockey than phoenix like seattle, milwaukee, louisville... baltimore

and someone must point out the fact that it was the judge who took so long to rule then rules on the fact that there's not enough time to sell... o_O

shitting in the alley outside your window
louisville? nah, don't think so. it's kinda close to columbus and would be a tiny market. it'd probably be the smallest metropolitan population to house a team as well. looked up the nielson and they were 48th in the country last year in terms of homes with TVs. by comparison seattle is 14, kansas city is 31, milwaukee is 34 and vegas is 43.

Seattle would be great but they have no arena and wouldn't build one for the SuperSonics so their is like zero chance they would build one for an NHL team.

Seattle doesn't give two shits about hockey. I had to order my hockey sticks online because they only had joke sticks at the sporting stores.

Derian Hatcher announced his retirement. I didn't follow his career much over the past few seasons but he was a heck of a captain for the Dallas Stars, captaining Dallas to two Cup finals in 1999 and 2000. After Dallas, Hatch had a brief stay in Detroit for 2003/'04, blew out a knee, and was traded to the Flyers after the lockout.

Certainly not one of the greatest of all time, but good enough and remembered well by us in north-central Texas.

Yikes--Those are creepy alright...If I had a daughter, I wouldn't let that guy come within 100 feet of her. He looks like he's grabbing that girl's ass.

I always liked Hatcher as a defenceman. Great career.

In Detroit we liked to refer to him as the"human orange cone" because of how often players would skate right around him. He definitely lost a step (or four) before coming to Detroit.

seriously? He seems like a nice, though somewhat weird, guy to me. It's pretty common for a man to put his hand on the small of a girl's back when taking a photo.

Hmmm...never heard of that custom. He's Russian, though, so maybe it's really common over there.

Most Flyers fans I know hated him, but I liked him. Underrated on the penalty kill and absolutely destroyed anyone he touched (could manage to touch). Definitely lost a step by the time he got here, but I still say Philly really could've used him this year. I would laugh my ass of when, during fights, he would pull guys' helmets off before pounding them in the face.

Sincerely hope that his knee injures don't ruin his life down the road

:lol Wings fans are the last people that should be bitching about the refs.

I hate anybody that blames refs. Sure, there are shit calls/no-calls, but it all evens out. It's not a conspiracy.

The officiating was awful throughout the playoffs. It lacked any semblance of consistency.

This statement is on point. Regardless, Pens are the Cup Champs and nothing's going to change that. :D

This, a thousand times. Complain about it in the heat of the moment, that's fine. But once you bring that shit past the final buzzer, you just look like a douche.

Exactly.

I would like the NHL to get rid of the ridiculous rule that a neutral zone official can call a penalty in a zone from center ice. 3/4 of the time it seems like the call is wrong. Leave it up to the officials in the zone. If they miss it, they miss it. End of story.

Who do you think the sens will get for a sniper like Heatley?

I think the better question would be, "Who is going to give up what it takes to get a sniper like Heatley?"

A sniper who's gone public with a trade request. Big difference.

It doesn't change the fact that somebody is still going to have to put a lot on the table to get this guy. I'd expect at least 6-7 teams in the running. He isn't going to come cheap.

Brian Burke rips into Heatley:

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=282128

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke let it be known that the Leafs will not be in on the Dany Heatley sweepstakes, and he pulled no punches along the way.

In a phone interview with Deb Placey and Billy Jaffe on NHL Live! broadcast on the NHL network, Burke stated that the Leafs had no interest in the two-time 50 goal scorer, largely because of the way he has chosen to handle his trade request.

First time I ever agree with Burke.

Good for him. Nice to see a GM of a team that could desperately use Heatley rip into him for this trade request.
