It's not actually trolling if you don't admit it
Is there a way to restore GC levels during combat?

It seems healing your HP doesn't really help.

Regularly? No. There isn't any way, as far as I know.

There are rings you can equip that will allow you to restore GC points while defending.

"recover GC when defending" skill thats in one of the enhacements equipment (belt or earrings, dont remember). I recommend Kaim and Seth learn it asap.

Also, when you get Mack he has the "wall" ability to recover some of it (again inmortals better learn it asap).

LOL... are we sure that the developers of Lost Odyssey didn't consult Team Ninja on this game. I thought I wouldn't see boobs bigger then Rachel's in Ninja Gaiden. Not only do Ming's top them, but they have all kinds of veins on them! Also Seth has some of the best modeled boobs in any game.

In all seriousness though, REALLY enjoying this game. The combat, the boss challenges, the polish of the story. I just finished disk 1 with about 11 hours of playtime.

I think Rachel is on top still.

Regarding Seth, i love its design and her distinctive style, animation that helps establishing her character. And the naked back is awesome. I like the way the back shoulder bone is modeled/textured.

My only problem is with the not so populated hair when you look from behind.

Btw, i like Jansen gestures a lot also. They put a good effort there.

Yep, the beach and crimson forest are really beautiful. Its incredible the contrast with the subpar Numara City.

Actually, what's that GC restore item on defend supposed to do? I gave it to Seth and...she's just taking less damage while defending? Am I missing something?

When you defend you get a tiny amount of GC back (you get it after you select all your commands, when the defense triggers, so you may not have noticed). It's not much, but I found it useful to have Kaim and Seth both continuously use that skill (Stand Fast, I think?) on the first boss once my GC started dropping. Jansen is the key player there and there's just no recovering if he dies when your GC is gone.

Even though I hate anything to do with Xbox 360 right now as I am suffering through broken console merry go round from hell, this is an amazing game.

If you even have a passing interest in role playing games, you have to pick this up. It cannot be missed.

I´m not talking so much about its design but i think we´ll all agree in the technical/graphics department is not very good to say the least. It even looks like something from previous gen.

The other settings/scenery look like from a completely different game.

I'm just a little bit ways past the second boss battle and WOW. This game is awesome. Probably one of the best JRPG's I have played in awhile and I used to play so many. This game strikes such a fine balance of next gen and old age nostalgia, its incredbile. :D

Glowing.

I need to buy this game ASAP.

Not without good reason. I've been playing Mass Effect as well and it's currently on hold while I go through this game.

This was an impulse buy, but it has been worth it.

So it's worth putting Mass Effect on hold for?

Unless ME isnt clicking with you or you really want to get that i'm-playing-with-GAF feeling, I would finish ME first... the last 1/3 is amazing.

This game is just amazing and shows me why I always was more anticipated about it than FFXIII and what I have missed in everything that came under the brand "Final Fantasy" after FFX.

I had about an full hour of dialogue/realtime/render - cutscenes yesterday on Disc 3, just watching it and enjoying the experience.

This. If you like ME, then finish it first.

If you're far into ME, I'd stick with it. You won't be disappointed.

Just don't forget to come back to this when you're done!

Best one for me was, "Wow. Puberty sucks." :lol :lol :lol

Jansen has the best dialogue ever.

My favorite was something to the effect of:

"Jansen, stop her"

"What? Why Me? Why not Seth?

"You heard me"

".....
No, I didn't..."

:lol

Jansen was golden for that entire scene.

That whole
Soceress's Mansion
dungeon was ripped almost straight out of the first two Shadow Hearts games, by the way. Straight down to the mirrors that make you travel between dimensions, the front door approach shot, and the quasi survival horror music vibe.

I wasn't sure I was gonna buy this game, but the commercial actually pushed me into getting it, and I think I would go so far as to say this is the best JRPG I've played in many years. Reminds me of the feeling I used to get with FFX, but to be honest I feel the story, the writing and voice acting are all better in this game (no "HA HA HA HA HA" cringe worthy moments yet). Right now I just went into the Crimson Forest. I'm a bit surprised by Cooke and Mack, I did not have a good feeling when I saw that 2 kids would be in this game. But the way they were introduced and the connection they have, it made sense that they would join the party. Also helps that as characters they're (so far) pretty subdued compared to my expectation. I thought they might try to make the kids over the top in a failed attempt at funny. I'm listening to the Japanese dub, and Cooke in particular sounds, at least to me, way older than she appears.

I'm happy with the game so far. I was always on the edge about this game, what with BD getting trashed by reviewers and complaints that LO was full of technical issues (very few of which I've actually encountered, and even less that have bothered me). It seems to me that some of the reviewers were full of crap. There is no way in hell this is a 2.5/5 game, Gamespy!

I've read a couple of comments stating the same thing, but I'm glad they decided not to make Kaim a typical teenage woe-is-me emo type character. Initially he seemed kind of a cookie cutter character, the stereotypical JRPG hero, but the Dreams do alot to flesh out him out. At first he's quiet and not very friendly, but the Dreams show that at certain times in the past he was a caring father and husband to many, as well good friends to some. They also show how the deaths have affected him, and how they have shaped Kaim into the person he is. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I appreciate being able to know WHY he's the way he is, as opposed to just being cool for the sake of it or for some stupid reason that's never really explained (which I feel is the path many JRPGs with a melodramatic bent take).

I will say this though. So far, I'm only mildly curious about the main story. I'm way more interested in the characters and their histories, but the overall story of what's going in the present of the game has failed to really grab my attention.

Overall an incredible game. If anyone's on the edge, I can't recommend it enough.

Gamespy 2.5...lulz, indeed.

Agenda much?

Game is bloody outstanding and gives me that feeling in my balls that FFVI did. And I like it.

Oh, just found out from someone at GameFAQs; the
Temple of Enlightenment
in the south-east continent has no effective level cap. I started levelling there at ~48, and I'm up to 70 now. Every fight's damned hard though...

To be fair, I've had the game for over a fortnight, possibly three weeks now - I forget. I'm playing it in bursts really. Up to around 50 hours in gametime now, I think.

OMG THIS GAME IS PWN (except for the dreams, I usually skip those, lolz)

Just got to Crimson Forest. The drama in the events prior to it were kinda meh, but you'll have that.

Not sure if this is better than Blue Dragon yet, but holy crap Mistwalker is pwning Square-Enix, even if mainstream RPG gamers don't realize it. It's like they went down the path Square should have after FFIX-X.

Wow...and to think what your opinion would be if you read the stories...they really flesh out Kaim in a way very few other games do.

I do not recommend this. They add a lot to the protagonist's background. Additionally, they are written very well. Read them. I'm sure you'll enjoy them.

I'm at the Crimson Forest, too. I think this game is beautiful. You remember the first Final Fantasy XIII trailer showing off a forest? It pretty much reminds me of that.

Picture or it didn't happen..!

Nice to see everyone's pretty much in the same spot. So I can traverse this thread rather cavalierly.

Wow. Although I'm not so sure a
funeral is the best environment for a god damned fetch quest,
the scenes before and after it were absolutely fantastic. I totally welled up like a giant baby, unexpectedly.

And now that the party is growing and accessories are plentiful, the levelling and skill system is really starting to come into its own. As are the graphics. The Crimson Forest is just as gorgeous as the sea section. And Cooke and Mack's detail seem to have increased once they join up.

I'm just glad Disk One isn't over yet.

Man, this game is just fantastic.

I need some help at about the end of disc 2 (I think):

I am at the Experimental Staff (after Saman Village) and worked my way to the top where I did save my game. I opened pretty much every treasure chest except one. This one is the very first you encounter when you enter the Staff. There is a big gap between me and the chest where occasinally some kind of transport device passes by. I tried jumping on it or running ... and much more but I just cannot go to the other side. Am I missing something obvious or do I have to come from an other direction? Or do I have to stop the transport device so I can get over - and if so, how do I do this?

Thanks for the help... and yes I know it is just one small thing, but I cannot go on without getting to it! :D (<-- me not being obsessed)

You will get to it after you beat the boss in the dungeon.

The music seems pretty inconsistent in this game. Crimson Forest theme was beautiful, but there are other tracks I thought sounded like shit. (Although in the game's defense, I can't recall any of them)

Thank you for saying this. Parts of that town looked near FFX-quality.

Sad excuse incoming: I smoke weed. I couldn't concentrate enough to read them if I tried.

They aren't critical, but they are arguably one of the best parts of the game.

Could you lay off the hash long enough to read or will someone else smoke it if you don't do it right away?

I'm skipping the dreams until I have a bunch unlocked and/or they're released in English. I despise stopping my playtime in order to read through a book a chapter at a time.

The dreams are really interesting , but imo they often come in places i wish they didnt.
For me they usually destroy the flow of the game, so i usually save them for a Inn, or when i feel reading them.
