YES, I just got the Awakening Bracelet from
that glowing crow selling shit at a stand in Saman
, it only took about 40 tries to get it. Plus 3 skill slots rock.

you should have a ring or something that you can equip that will show the enemies HP's. can't remember what its called. i think that boss has 1480 HP's

Yeah, I think you're right. Thanks for reminding me.

Anyway, I beat him on the next try. Its all about being lucky that he doesn't use that one devastating move on all party members more than once or twice. On my first try he used it 5 times in a row.

It's not the boss fight. Once you crack the code on that one it's easy. Jensen makes short work of them. It's the god damned slaughter afterwards.

Have everyone cast Prism.

How do I make the Crimson Forest stone elevators work? I have Mack in my party and nothing happens.

In the first area of the forest go to the northeast corner, should see a white glowing pillar type deal. Just activate it and you can use them now.

The lift you took out of the boss chamber that takes you back into the forest has a control panel right in front of it. Press A next to it to activate the lifts in the area. You can tell it worked when they have a red/pink aura around them.

How many skill slots can an immortal get?

12 slots using slot seeds. Not sure if you can go above 12 using slot increasing items too.

Thenks! That ought to work.

(Although I hope everyone in my party has Blk Mgc II...)

I just got through that part, it was brutal. for some reason throughout the cutscenes there, the voices kept cutting out. is that normal or just a glitch?

Mine was the same way, it actually froze up the first time I approached the place. Made it through though.

It doesn't do that because the order is determined by the moves. Attacks are usually quicker than magic and skills and so on. its decided on a move-by-move basis.

FF10 still shows you the order you'll go in and adjusts it if needed for whatever attack/skill you select.

This is probably my only gripe about the battle system.

I agree that they should have figured out a way to display the turn sequence. It's a bit annoying. Honestly, I think they would have been better off with an ATB system ala FFX, but it's not bad the way it is.

Should I have the Sunderch Glasses by now?
I'm rescuing Mack
. I haven't been following the guide the whole way and there are a few items that are listed as requiring Sunderch Glasses to see.

No, the Sunderch Glasses aren't available until disc 4. They're just there on the maps so when you do get them you can minimize the backtracking (there's also a section in the back of the guide with specific locations for all the chests).

FFX isn't ATB, it's just plain turn-based. Perhaps you're thinking of X-2?

LOL, the Lost Odyssey CD-R pic is on there. I just see GAF mentioned, anyone post a quick summary of what it says.

Someone should soon. Also I expected to see more "w" around on the page (FFXI days...dunno how japanese people equate w to lol...but hey).

This game is awesome so far, in every aspect. The dream sequences surprised me the most. They are amazingly well done considering they were probably written in japanese and translated. I think I just expected the usually jrpg garbage from the writing.

It's just a little news bit about the packaging here. (Written as straight news, so no lolz or wwwwwww'ing) They mention Americans are up in arms over the shitty packaging and some are claiming that they'll cancel their preorders, and show Wark's pic to show how the fired up members of the game forum NeoGAF are reacting.

Man, that controversy feels like forever ago.

As long as Cry On isnt packaged in a stapled shut ziplock bag, im good.

Whats up with Cooke and Mack getting so freaked out about those blind reptilian things in the Black Caves? Seriously, two kids just finished being possessed, blowing up a tank, visiting a haunted house, and nearly having to beat up their own grandma who was also possessed to a certain extent... and their scared of some normal creatures?

I think this is also the first RPG where I can kinda buy the main character being dark and broody. Alot of those dreams are really rough. I could see how 1000 years of that would fuck you up. :lol

Whew, long day at work. However, my most precious moment today was convincing someone to buy a pro over looking for an elite (he didn't even want XBL) and then ramming LO down his throat and making him buy it :3

+1 LO sale!

Edit: (turns out the guy was in the military, I wonder how he'll take to it o_O?)

:lol I was thinking the same thing when I got to that part. I think they were just afraid because that giant monstrous chicken design looked so damn ridiculous.

Yesterday, I've reached Disc two but a strange thing happened: after the "disc change successful" messeage, the guide popped up without any messeages on it. I've pressed B and it dropped me back into the dashboard. Afther that, there wasn't a problem after all, I was able to continue the game but man, it made me scared a little.

Btw, new record for me, I've never ever passed the first disc in any JRPG although I've played with most of them. I've loved FF8 and LO reminded me to that that's why I've picked up. I don't like japanese RPGs', but this is different. After the slow start and some mindbreaking battles, I'm finally fully enjoying it.

The falling petal scene was absolutely beautiful

Reminded me of the movie Tremors 2. Those enemies looked like they were ripped from that movie lol.

Anyway, I'm going to call it quits for tonight. I'm pretty much at the end of disc 2 and this section is annoying as hell
(Experimental Staff) took forever to get the key cards since the fucking steal command is broken. 45mins. later I saw that you could make a pickpocket ring which definitely made things go a lot faster.

I'm having so much enjoyment just finding and reading all the Dream stories. I'm almost just pushing through the main plot to quickly get to the next excerpt.

That happened to me too. Also for some reason in the boss battle
with the Black cave monsters
the music just cut out on me. Gonna restart just incase...

unless when you knock out the lights its supposed to be near pitch black "in their eyes"
. Then I guess it could be scaryish.

Im just worried the quality of them will start to drop off. They are way too good for a jrpg.

I got DMC4 two weeks ago and have yet to beat Mass Effect. Question: Is LO good enough to warrant getting it within two weeks of my last videogame purchase?

I could go out and grab it tomorrow with yet another gift certificate I have in my drawer.

If you like RPG's definitely pick it up ASAP, but I would finish Mass Effect first--It's not that long anyway.

It's amazing the positive forum response this is getting. I mean, Blue Dragon surely had its moments in the community, but Lost Odyssey is being received unpredictably strongly on the forums. I'm still on the edge as to whether or not I'm going to pick it up in the next week or so (unless there are a barrage of positive comments following this post -- that might incite me to do so) but I'm definitely picking it up soon.

Not without good reason. I've been playing Mass Effect as well and it's currently on hold while I go through this game.

This was an impulse buy, but it has been worth it.

Got this from GameFly yesterday. I had my doubts about the game, so I was just planning on renting it for a few weeks. But after playing all day today, I clicked on the Keep It button. :D

Just out of curiosity, how much playtime should I expect from this game? I'm thinking overall, but a breakdown for each disc would be great as well. I won't be rushing through it, but I won't be trying to find every little secret in the game either. I just want an idea of how many hours of my life will be spent on the game. :)

let us know if they send the paper sleeve with the case

I picked up Lost Odyssey today and they only had one copy. It was the display copy and it was open, so I was kind of confused when the girl at Gamestop took all four discs out of the paper sleeve and put them all on the spindle. I was going to tell her that one was supposed to stay in the sleeve, but I thought whatever and just left. Interestingly, I think that putting all four discs on the spindle holds them more tightly in the case (up against the instruction booklet even) and there's less chance of one falling off and getting scratched. I recommend it for anyone worried about scratches.

On a second and more unhappy note, I don't even have my 360 right now. FedEx has tried twice to deliver it to me from the 360 graveyard, but I'm never home to sign for the package. I wonder if I'm going to have to pick it up somewhere. Either way, I'm dieing to play this game.

Yeah, I was skeptical at first since it felt so totally old-school JRPG, but this game has been really good so far. Loving the hard boss fights, the turn-based combat, the thousand year dreams, the voice acting, everything.

The gameplay/system actually seems pretty deep too. Not far along enough in the game yet but I can see lots of possibilities for skill linking, rings, and formations.

I used prism a lot on that battle and it was cake walk. The one before it, man, that took me 2 tries and I think a little bit of luck was involved. It was like "please don't use down force, please don't use down force"

My first fight with the first boss: downforce twice. Game over.
Tried the flame ring, seemed pretty useless (85 damage per Kaim hit)...Jansen was doing the most damage but the boss loves to hit him all the time.

Finally beat it on the fifth try, though it took every healing potion in my inventory. For some reason that fight the boss hits Jansen until he's dead and then spams down force. (Lv15 at that time...)

Also nearly died twice afterwards, those mad beasts near the mine carts combined with the 100+ damage poison attacks nearly killed me (the beasts love to auto-dodge and then counter for 1/3rd Kaims HP.) I hope the game comes down to a reasonable difficulty curve soon, or I won't be getting anywhere.

Actually, what's that GC restore item on defend supposed to do? I gave it to Seth and...she's just taking less damage while defending? Am I missing something?
