Sorry about that, I simply misread your post. But no the maincharacter is not Feminine and the game requires no grinding in order to finish it. You may need to do some grinding to get through one of the optional dungeons (not sure about that).
I was really hoping to convince myself not to pick up LO because I have way to much on my gaming plate as it is. Judging by the reactions in this thread, though, this looks to be a game a shouldn't pass up. I figure I'll probably wait a month or so for a sale before caving.
Okay, I went ahead and ordered some of the 4 disc cases from the http://www.kingdom.com store. I also ordered a set of 3 disc cases, and replaced my Blue Dragon case with one.
FYI the quality of the cases is fine for their price. If you order some however, be advised that in my two sets of 10 pieces each for each type, 3 cases total were damaged with sliced plastic sheaths. So you may want to order in bulk to avoid getting unlucky. They're cheap enough.
Apologies for the poor quality of the pictures. I didn't have access to our better digital camera this morning. But for those curious what their games would look like in these cases, here you go:
As a note, the four disc case doesn't have an empty pane to insert a manual into. However I found that laying the manual in the front of the case, on top of the folding center section, provided enough clearance for the case to close without feeling squeezed or overly tight, so it's all good.
Temple of Enlightenment, outside you have some nice battles with about 8 enemies at a time that will get you to 60 IIRC, and inside black/hellish kelolons have no level cap
I actually got stuck inside there for 6 hours, no joke. Went in at lvl 47 and came out at lvl 82. There wasn't a difficult battle for me after surviving that particular dungeon.
A bit late to this party, but if all the party member interaction is as fun and awesome as the banter provided by Seth and Jansen in the beginning, this is going to be a fucking great game.
I'm already enjoying the hell out of this one.
Truly touching short stories, truly hilarious dialogue. I was worried the game would be too cliche and dry - I was wrong to worry.
I just finished the game with 900 points.
Question about the final battle...
Can you even die on the last boss? The whole thing seems scripted out. Not that I really have a problem with that, I thought it all played out real well. In fact, I think more RPG final battles should be scripted out it makes good with the story. The real final boss is The Immortal anyway.
Def. one of the best RPGs I've played in a long time. Yeah the story dips on disc 3 but I'm willing to forgive it. The voice acting was way above par along the overall story in general. I really don't see myself going for the all treasure achievement. Perhaps if I had more time, but ya know, Smash on Sunday and all...
I took 2 days off from playing the game because I was out of town. Now, for the last two nights, I just can't get myself to get back into it....4 days off now. And I'm on the beginning of disc 3.
Yeah there are about 12 slot seeds per disc. The maximum amount of skill slots your immortals can have is 32 (if I remember correctly); so even if you don't find them all and take advantage of the accessories that teach you Slot +3, +5, and +10 , you're good to go.
Yes to both. Save points appear often, dungeons are usually short, and you can save on the map screen. There are a couple times where you go an hour or more between saves, though.

Ya, it seems that gamers are receiving the game better than reviewers did. I know that one of my friends who hasn't played anything but Halo since it came out (well also Mass Effect because I wouldn't leave him alone until he bought it) is planning to buy Lost Odyssey on his next paycheck.

I've made it to Disc 3... no important reason I'm reporting it, but I just thought I'd let the official thread know. I think if I manage to continue playing LO while simultaneously playing God of War Chains of Olympus on the go and I don't lose interest, then I'll play it till completion.
Ironically, I'm now looking for RPGs on the PSP; what kind of game is Gurumin? And I may pick up Blue Dragon if I can find it for $20 used.
Beat it earlier today. Spent the last god knows how many hours blowing through Disc 4. Really good game. I really liked all the side missions and stuff. So much that the actual story dungeons in disc 4 are kinda blah. I ended up loving the entire cast, save Sarah The Bore.
And hot damn are those dream stories good. I ended up reading every damn one, and not a single one let me down.

Was this directed at me, or are you also just getting into disc 3? I made it to Disc 3 last night, and I'm about to start playing it now... I hope it isn't difficult; I'm at the point where I really just want the story to progress.
As far as combat is concerned, I was fighting that
DinoSaoro
and my strategy was to just have Jansen flara his ass while the other four party members medicate/revive/sheild/powera each other (and specifically Jansen). It took a while (20 mins), but we were pretty much invincible. I'm hoping the rest of the boss battles are like that, as I don't want to die needlessly and I definitely don't want to get stuck on any sticky points. I seem to recall something about tanks on Disc 3 or 4... is it as bad as everyone has said?
next time, let there be a "Ring" for skill attacks, my hands are used to holding down the right trigger so please remember to give skill attacks rings like normal attacks.
Ok so I just got to the Temple of Enlightenment. What the fuck... seriously. The enemies outside of the temple are crazy strong but atleast beatable. However once I entered the actual temple my first encounter was a group of 6-8 7400 health exploding baboons. Now if that wasn't enough they fucking ressurect eachother meaning that by the time I've finally killed some of these bastards they call some of their dead buddies back in... with full health..
My characters are all roughly around lvl 55 but I doubt I'll get very far with them.

To beat those guys (babaloons or whatever) pretty easily all you need to do is be sure all you characters are immune to poison and can nullify elemental damage, then cast All-Flarus, they will all promptly self destruct within one round.
I was just flipping through the strategy guide and noticed a skill called "Zero MP Consumption". You get it from an item called the Eternal Magic Engine which according to the guide is "available through the xbox live market place". Anyone else notice this or know when this item is supposed to hit? I'd love to be able to cast infinite levelers and divides etc.

Yeah I looked again and there are a ton. 1 of the items is the preorder bonus item. Shit there's even an accessory that gives you a skill that allows any spell to be cast after 1 turn. I'd really like to know when they plan on putting these up.

Disc 1: Awesome start, slow pace, fucking good finale.
Disc 2. Good start. Its the gameplay/dungeon disc. I didn't quite dig them, but they were not bad, especially the mansion. Good finale, but the moments before that (having Jansen steal the cards) was one of the most annoying moments in gaming.
Disc 3: Starts slow, then the ice part. Awesome. Not a problem with any of the monkeys since I killed the bastards first. Everythin's good...
Gohtza looked awesome, though it had horrendous frame drops
. Then after that? Pure awesomness. I counted 2 hours of pure awesome moments, some of the best in my gaming life, and I had yet to start
the Sarah and Kaim thing inside the train to look for the annoying duo of kids
. Jesus.... everything was... like... wow.
Gongora killing those 7 bastards was fucking unnecessary though
. Can't play today, tomorrow neither, Smash Bros will consume my life on Sunday, but after that I plan on beating it. So far, Disc 3 is my favorite disc.
Wow I had a lot of say... was banned for 2 weeks and couldn't talk about the game :lol Haven't been bothered by loading either. Also.... WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME YOU COULD FLEE FROM BATTLES? I had fought every, SINGLE, battle until I accidentally hit left on the analog stick in the Attack menu and saw Equip, Formation and Flee. NEVER, NEVER did I see this. How could have equip saved me from so many nightmares.

My opinion is that it is a bit of what you mentioned...plus, it happens to be on a console who's competition is sorely lacking in the genre. Those who take up it's defense may have a chip on their shoulder.
You need to learn all the skills available from the Mortals and from all the accessories in the game.
Can someone help me with the Treasure Trove achievement? I have scoured the damn world for whatever it is I'm missing. The Auction House is closed up completely with a sign in front that tells me as much and the guy at the
Pirate Fortress
has no hints for me either regarding anything I may have missed. Any help would be hot.
Have you searched the coastline of the seafloor already? Dropped through the hole in the Dark Cave to get that chest Kaim couldn't climb to? Taken the elevator down to the floating lower level of the Temple of Enlightenment to open the chest there? Already have all 99 seeds, Cubic Musical scores, Invisible Chests, and Royal Seals?
Cuz that's where I'm at and I am still missing something! Argh!

Did you get all the invisible chests? Once you complete the cubic music score sidequest, you get the Sunderch Glasses, which allow you to see invisible chests. There's 10 of them scattered throughout the world. I know one is out front of the mansion and one is at the northern cape. To find the rest you either need to look in the guide or at a FAQ.

The only one I'm not clear on is the floating lower level of the temple of enlightenment. What's the item there? Everything else I've done including the rolling rock in the sorcerer's temple and trading in the three tablet fragments to the artisan in Numara.
