Agreed, the space station level (with the name I can't remember) is fucking amazing to me, and I think the textures in some levels far exceed some of the other UE3 games, and yes I'm talking about Mass Effect.dark10x said:I'm surprised with some of the negative comments on the visuals. I think it looks great all around (much better than CoD4, which received tons of praise).

I have a friend who has "Dirty" in his name. I think DirtyWeasel was just taken.DIrtyWeasel said:I can't make the PSN username "DirtyWeasel". I guess "dirty" is a word that isn't allowed for PSN usernames. I made "DrtyWeasel" but it looks strange to me. I guess i'm sticking with CloudOne.

I don't live in Europe or the US and I want this game, but COD4 has made me realize how bad it is when you can't choose hosts based on latency before joining. Does UT3 show you the pings of the servers you wanna join? Also, does the PS3 version have client-side hit detection?

anyone know about this?
Mad Max said:Great game but why isn't anyone playing the PC version online:S.
theBishop said:You can choose "Quick Match" to let the game choose for you. Or you can filter by your preferences and see the server list (yes with Ping).

I don't like the grungy style in UT in general, and in some cases at least in the beta demo it became down right distracting. I understand that Epic developed a certain style that they are obviously very happy with, but it's not UT.
BeeDog said:Many people seem to mix up bad graphics with mediocre art direction. UT3 ain't the most aesthetically pleasing game around, but the console version is definitely not a technical slouch.

Maybe I should buy a PS3, hmm :/
Haven't had one freeze yet and played it for about 2-3hrs yesterday.DarkUSS said:Some people report that their PS3 freezes everytime they attempt to join a game session. Is that true?
I think it has to do with both the large number of unique environments and the need to load the complete map into ram at one time.theBishop said:Part of the problem for me is I moved the PS3 to my computer desk to check out the KB/M stuff (and the GF was watching TV), so I had an up-close look at each pixel. I've never sat so close to Gears to do the same.
My general takeaway is the models that obviously received attention (vehicles, characters, architecture) look exquisite. The Necris vehicles animate beautifully. Unfortunately, the environments themselves are bland. The game doesn't have the consistency across the screen that made Gears so impressive.
Its also hard to compare to Gears because the way you traverse the environments is so different in both games. Gears always has that camera fixed over the shoulder and you move fairly slowly through small spaces with very deliberate animations. UT3 has you cruising on your hoverboard over long, open distances.

Well...piss. Who the hell wants an exciting gaming evening with friends when you can be an uncoordinated asshole with a headset.DaCocoBrova said:Split screen gaming is ghetto gaming.

The multiplayer maps in Gears were never as impressive as the single player maps

There's nothing in that map that's more complex than what you see in UT3, though. It's all style.McDragon said:i dunno about that, i think this looks pretty hot: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/19157.html
but of course, gears is only 4 vs 4 and small maps.

then when it came time for the 1 on 1 match against your character's sister, I saw that Denogginizer was in the match as well and ...shit...that was an amazingly awesome experience...so unexpected and FUN AS HELL
did manage to play a few TDM matches before I called it a night
