I just realized another reason why I like this game so much, hardly anyone sits around and snipes. Most that do aren't so successful because of the fast pace of the game. Snipers would piss me off in Halo 3 and Resistance. I especially hated the shotgun/sniper only games in Halo 3.
Oh and I hooked up a mouse and keyboard last night but didn't like it. I got used to playing FPS with the controller. The last time I played a PC FPS was probably UT2k3, so i'm no longer used to it..

Wait, let me confirm, you guys are saying that this game controls (with the sixaxis) as smooth or smoother than Halo (the epitome of FPS on a dual analog controller)? If so, my interest in the game has rocketed...

I think that is just what I need. I especially like the button that allows you to tone down the sensitivity for better sniping.

The maps in this game are amazing. The space station level is just A+++. Between this, the Burnout demo online and Rock Band, I'm using my PS3 more than I've ever used it before 
No. Actually I've played just about every FPS on a console and this is the best set of controls in one yet in my opinion. I'm doing extremely well, way better than I do in other FPS console games because my aim is really good and it's easy to move around while fighting.
If you're not a fan of the DS in the first place, obviously you won't like it as much.

Third night in a row I tried to play this game in the early AM, and I always get massacred. I don't know if I play worse because i'm tired or maybe the people who play this late are the hardcore players who play 24/7.

i haven't played many games on the pad, but i have played lots of halo. i think all that really needs to be said is that i didn't feel too disadvantaged over playing on the keyboard in the games i was forced to use the pad.

Consider it thirded! I have been mostly a PC shooter player. I don't like using a controller for FPS. So I was psyched for this game's kbd/mouse support. I hooked up the peripherals and they were right on the money. It was a really cool feeling to know that I was playing "PC style" on a console. After the novelty wore off though, I went back to playing UT3 with a controller because it was less of a hassle and felt just as responsive.Alias03 said:

Just finished playing my first real bout with it. The controls are amazingly tight. I'm still not a huge DS fan, but I have to give it up to EPIC for really getting the most out of this controller. The precision is amazing. I did a few online rounds on split-control servers and stayed in the top three using a controller.
And I'm playing better than ever. Maybe the PS3 gamers aren't as into FPS's, but I'm laying the smack down like a god. Woot!
The game itself is amazing. Some texture pop, but I haven't seen any slowdown, and it looks fantastic in motion. And it's so faaaaaaast. Fuck yeah. Online got my adrenaline thumping s o much I was talking smack without a headset on, making my wife laugh her ass off.
Epic did an amazing job with this.

You know, I've played on fearless and I've noticed some crazy bloom out of nowhere (music disabled), but never noticed anyone invincible. *shrug*
Fearless, AFAIK, is like underground and dark and crap. I'd have to load up UT3 to check.

The cool thing about the darkwalkers is that people tend to feel invulnerable in them. And by the time they realize that oh shit I'm on fire, it's typically too late.

Also, the Redeemer has a much larger range than you'd first expect. First time I used it, I killed everyone in the room, including myself.
Fantastic game. I'm even enjoying the campaign stuff, mostly because it throws you into all the different vehicles. Hoverboarding is ridiculous, but fun once you get the hang of it, especially once you start grappling vehicles.
