Kate Winsltet hosts tonight and Eminem is the performer. Considering what happened last week it should be interesting as im sure they will make fun of it.

They did.

Hah, I quite enjoyed that cold opening. Especially knocking Heinz Kerry and the Ashlee Simpson stuff.

dammit! I missed it.

Anyone start to get the feeling that SNL planned the "controversial tape" :p. RATINGS BOOST! (if only for the next week)

Umm... honest question: was Eminem singing, at all? His microphone was away from his mouth several times and the volume of his voice didn't change at all. Sounded exactly like the album version. Those were pretty strong background vocals...

Ashlee owned again... by Sir Elton John. "Ashlee Simpson is a phony/ Acid reflux is baloney"

Amy Poehler is hilarious. :lol I already knew that, but at least this episode has more/better stuff for her to do.

I'm pretty sure eminem was actually singing. They were strong background vocals but when he got intense on the last two verses you could hear the echo the background vocals under his live voice. when did snl allow rappers to have djs though? i remember a few years ago when DMX was on, he was forced to have a live band. not sure if eminem did that before though

Amy Poehler is fucking hilarious. That last skit brought back memories from Mike Meyer's Hyper Hypo Kid skit :p

Okay, I really was having a hard time catching. I could instantly and clearly hear him on the second song, which I really enjoyed. It's grown on me. Goofy as hell, and their expressions during the laugh were priceless.

Poehler's sketch was great. She's damned funny.

he sucked and sang along with a backup track and noticably lowered his mic while his voice was still rapping.

Yeah, I saw that part. I think there even a moment where his mouth wasn't moving. o_O

No, Hammond's still a cast member. He's the last of that once new group that consisted of Cheri Oteri, Will Ferrel, Ana Gasteyer, Molly Shannon etc. I get the feeling he'll be gone soon though.

Wow, I could've sworn I heard him say he had left SNL a few months ago on an interview with Conan. Thank god he's still on the show, he's the last remaining link to all that was once good :(

That was a brutally un-funny episode of SNL. The first three episodes this season were relatively good, too. Kate Winslett is decidedly unfunny, and she didn't really get all that much skit time, either.

Eminem's performance would have been greatly enhanced by a band. I'd love to hear those songs with a nice live kit. I caught the mic slip, but it seems as though he was actually singing live, it's just that he has like 7 tracks of background vocals to make his voice have more punch. He didn't look like he was having all that much fun. He needs to loosen up a bit, especially when he's performing a hilarious song like Just Lose It.

At the end of the show when they play the closing SNL tune, Em had his arm around Kate Winslet and she gave him this crazy look and brushed him off. It was a really weird thing to watch, as usually everyone's all affectionate at the end of the show.

From imdb.com:

Now Eminem's Caught Lip-Syncing on TV

Bosses of American satirical show Saturday Night Live were left embarrassed by Eminem last night when the rapper lipsynced through parts of his two performances on the show. A week after Ashlee Simpson's miming fiasco made headlines, Eminem failed to keep up with his own guide track as he performed politically-charged "Mosh" and new hit "Just Lose It." This came after guest host Kate Winslet poked fun at last week's lip-syncing controversy during her opening monologue. She said, "I'm thrilled to be hosting Saturday Night Live. I can assure you it is live because I'm hyperventilating a bit. I do however wish it wasn't the week after the Ashlee Simpson incident because now I really do have to perform live." Winslet then showed off her tap-dancing and singing skills - to prove that the show was completely live. Winslet's stint on the show was a hit - she played Norah Jones and a female Dr. Frankenstein in skits on the program. Meanwhile, Saturday Night Live writers further poked fun at Simpson when regular comic Horatio Sanz performed, Ashlee Simpson' you're a phoney...' to the tune of Elton John's "Tiny Dancer."

MIMIC

Eminem did not lip-sync "Just Lose It." If you saw the part in the song where he pulled the microphone away from his mouth (and that that moment, the other rapper on-stage was supposed to say that part, but didn't), the only thing you heard was the instrumental track.

He clearly lip-synced "Mosh," however. I think that it was just a "stab at Mich...er, Ashlee." :D

It's the new excuse!

"I was just mocking Ashlee Simpson"

"Lip Synching up 500%"
