Why? He's a producer for this one. He gets paid %wise on the profits no?
Unlike Catwoman Jackman knows this is shit and is taking the cash.

According to Jackman (he said this on the Howard Stern Show, on Thursday) he doesn't get paid any more to be the producer.

He was really open about financial stuff (and everything else, really), so I don't see why he would lie about that.

150m dollar bugdet for Wolverine? Holy hell movies are getting out of hand expensive.

Does that include marketing/promo?

No.

$150 mil seems like the average budget for a blockbuster these days. Now THESE are out of hand.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - Production Budget: $225 million

Spider-Man 3 - Production Budget: $258 million

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - Production Budget: $300 million

Quantum of Solace - Production Budget: $200 million

Seriously, anything over 100M better be LotR epic. The actor fees have gone down right? I thought I read that the other day. Or are we still in the days of them making 20m a pop? Maybe just the big guns like Carrey or Segal (lol)

didnt look like it cost that much....Craig must have gotten a pay rise

There were at least a half dozen different setpieces, all set in different places around the world.

people having no taste CONFIRMED.

How can you go by opening numbers that people have no taste? Are people supposed to psychically determine whether a movie is good or not before seeing it?

It's a movie based on a hugely popular character, following a string of hugely successful films in the same series. What do you think was going to happen? It has absolutely nothing to do with taste.

Anyone think Star Trek is going to be a pretty huge bomb? I could see around 30~ million opening weekend, finish at around 80 million.

:S

Actually from the hype/reviews/cast/crew, I could easily see Star Trek doing well, and then Star Trek II (if it's at least as good or better) doing huge (kinda like Batman Begins doing good, and then TDK doing gigantic).

Not that ST II will be TDK-big, but you understand what I mean.

I think it has a high chance of success, but I think it's the biggest summer movie wild card. I can see it doing poorly, and at the same time I can see it doing well enough to even top Angels and Demons when that opens a week later.

Domestic: $13,275,000 48.5%
+ Foreign: $14,114,016 51.5%
= Worldwide: $27,389,016

Cost under $20 mil to make.

Add in the inevitable big DVD sales, and it's done well.
But the problem is, despite the fact that it only cost Lionsgate $500,000 more to make Crank 2, it's doing markedly worse than Crank. It's three weeks into its run and it's worldwide gross hasn't even matched the domestic gross of the first Crank! Yes, it's still profitable, but this pretty much confirms that Crank 3 isn't getting made. ;_;

I'd be REALLY surprised if Star Trek tanks, but considering Watchmen, anything is possible.

What this list is showing us is over $200m = shitty film.

I don't see any possible way it tops Angels & Demons. Tom Hanks and Da Vinci guy will be box office gold.

I doubt it. I think it'll have a decent opening weekend in the $50-60 million range, and show pretty good legs afterward.

It'd do better if it weren't for the overweight-virgin-living-in-his-parents'-basement stigma attached to the franchise. But then, that's why it's being (mostly) rebooted in the first place.

Star Trek should do well...it might not have a massive opening but i expect it to have legs

Angels and Demons will be big but i dont think it will really attract the same audience? (might be wrong on this).....although Terminator Salvation opens the week after that so that might hurt it

Star Trek is projected to do something like $50 or 60 million, right? Anyways, that's the type of movie that I think will have nice legs but might not do amazingly in any one weekend.

Gosh I hope so. Watchmen had better effects with a lower budget.

Don't worry. I think people were more curious than anything.

Next week I predict at least a 75% drop off, since Star Trek will be opening.

I don't think Star Trek is going to do the numbers you guys are hoping

$30-40 million opening weekend

Might find its way to $100 million overall over time but probably not.

It's tracking at $60+ million and seems to be a hell of a movie by all reports so the word of mouth will be pretty good. Shouldn't have a problem going well over $100 million.

Officially tracking for opening weekend is 65 million. No way it will do 30-40 with industry tracking like that.

Not to mention it is getting insanely good reviews from critics.

"Studio isn’t sure how much the piracy ate into the box office, but some insiders suggest it could be as much as $20 million."

Bitch pleeeease.

Most folks who watch these downloads were not going to pay to go see the frakin movie in the first place.
