Or just keep a TE or RB in. It's simple. Either pass under duress or eliminate one of your passing options, that's all I want.

This doesn't even help most of the time. Keeping the TE in basically kills your only real passing option because your CBs are able to bump every single play and never get burnt, frustrating.

intangibles, motherfucker

Input lag IS pretty horrendous on those bigger TVs. I had to switch back to my 32" from my 47" because I was doing horribly in Reach due to the lag...

Valid excuse, IMO.

CB seems to think I'm making shit up..I got blown out on a 55'' LED that I have been using for Mass Effect 2 where lag obviously doesn't matter.

He thinks I'm lying lol

Well, you usually do lie when someone thumps your head (used all of my energy beating Rors for example), but this time, I'll let you slide.

Shaping up to be a wild finish in the AFC playoff race.
10 wins = in.

IN:
1. Crow - 13-2 - Home Field Advantage throughout the playoffs (last game is MMK and sort of meaningless - I'll come back to the sort of)
2. Ramirez - 11-4 - Bye week and a Home game
3 or 4: Sanjo - 9-6 - Division crown and a home playoff game in Foxboro - (plays Ferny in a meaningless finale)
5 or 6: MMK - 10-5, only remaining game is Crow.

Four teams are in.

AFC South representative is up in the air.
Colts are 9-5 with games against Jags and Bears left. With a win against the Jags, that will lock up a playoff spot - crossing the 10 win threshold, but the seed won't be known until the outcome of Smokey's week 17 game.

Wildcard spots:
There's one spot left that could go to one of four teams:
  • Cleveland (with 2 wins and losses by Houston and Indy)
  • Texans (with a win over the Bengals and the Browns lose one of their last two). Or, a loss to the Bengals, and two losses from the Colts.
  • Colts (win in week 16 and in, either as division winner or only other possible 10 win finisher)
  • Bengals (8-7), if they win the Texans and Bengals finish 9-7, if tiebreak is head to head, Bengals are in (with help from the Browns who need to lose their last two games) as the six seed and play the 3. If they lose, they are completely out of the playoff race
.

Seeding:
1. Broncos
2. Steelers
3. Colts, with a win in week 16, and a Smokey loss to the Bengals in Week 17 OR with a win in Week 16 and a win in Week 17. The Texans win the division with two Colts losses or a Colts loss to the Jags and a win over the Bears and a Texans win over the Bengals.
4. Pats - this might become a 3 seed if the AFC South winner is 9-7, but I don't think it does.
5. Raiders - this spot appears locked up, but it's not. MML holds head to head tiebreakers over the Colts (DOTA sim), but the Browns hold the head to head against the Raiders. So, conceivably, if the Browns win out, they get this spot and MML gets the sixth seed, unless Smokey finishes 10-6.

Raiders Conference Record: 8-3
Texans Conference Record: 7-4
Colts Conference Record: 6-5
Bengals Conference Record: 6-5
Browns Conference Record: 4-6

So if all three teams finish at 10-6, Texans are the 3, Raiders the 5, Colts the 6.

If Smokey finishes 10-6 and the Colts finish 10-6 with a win against the Jags, Smokey wins the division, MMK gets the five seed, Colts get the six seed, because the Colts hold tie breaker over the Browns (conference). If the Colts lose to the Jags, then the tiebreaker goes to something next between Browns and Colts, if both teams have 10 wins.

6. Texans win and they are in. Bengals win and the Browns lose 2 games and they are in. Browns are 3-2 in the Division (4-6 in the Conference), Bengals are 4-2 in the division (6-5 in the Conference). If the Browns split their last two games and end up with the same record as the Bengals, the Bengals get in because the conference record for the Browns will be 5-7 vs. Bengals 6-6.

Short version: 10 wins is the cutoff and any team that gets to 10 wins gets in. Except for the Browns.

So what are the games that determine all of this:
Week 16
Colts vs. Jags
Browns vs Ravens

Week 17
Texans vs. Bengals - on SMOKEYTV
Bears vs. Colts
Browns vs. Dolphins

I don't understand two things here:

Wildcard spots:

  • Texans (with a win over the Bengals and the Browns lose one of their last two). Or, a loss to the Bengals, and two losses from the Colts.

.

Is it that Cleveland is in with 2 wins and 1 loss by Houston or 2 by Indy?

I think that if the Browns lose the game against the Ravens it pushes me ahead with a win over Smokey due to divisional record. If I beat Smokey but the Browns win against the Ravens and lose to the Dolphins, then you have to apply divisional tie breakers first to eliminate teams from the same division. It would be common opponents between us. Shakes out like this:

Steelers
Ravens
Chiefs
Raiders
Chargers
Broncos
Eagles
Giants
Redskins
Cowboys

His record against them is 6-5 mine is 6-6. The one common game left is the Ravens game.

So at the end of the day, all the Browns have to do is beat the Ravens and I am eliminated.

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.

I've never been convinced that Madden does any real tiebreakers beyond the simple head to head, division record, etc. It even still messes up the head to head tie breaker for non-division opponents in seeding still.

Yeah I would try to lock up a playoff birth outright and not let it be determined by the Madden gods.

I'm almost positive I'm locked into the 4 seed, so my game with the Colts is now meaningless. Do I rest my starters or do I try to keep my late season momentum and risk injury heading into the playoffs? Decisions to make!

Yea if I had any doubts that the hot/cold streak from offline franchise is a part of online franchise I don't any more. Ever since that one bad game against CB Peyton's accuracy took a nosedive.

So wait...we aren't actually 100% positive it exists? Like EA never said if it is or isn't in?

I never even thought that it existed in OF, but it would make sense. Just stupid that it'd be hidden

I don't think hot/cold streak carries over from game to game. There is a hot/cold streak within each game, though. So when things go bad everything crumbles.

I do believe there is some sort of home field advantage coded into the game. I've seen some crazy things go against me on the road, yet get some big advantages playing at home.

I'm in the same position so I think I'll just play Tebow for the first half against the Jets. I do want to get him to 30 tds but if he gets hurt I don't know how I'll run my offense.

If both the Eagles and I win out, who gets #2 seed?

Good question. If you both finish at 12-4 you'll also have identical 10-2 conference records.

I'm going to say you because I doubt the game properly does tiebreakers. Older maddens would tie break by alphabetical team name, so C is before E!

Loser of the Cards/Niners game is heading to Chicago for the wild card round. I know FMT doesn't want another beating anytime soon so he'll be playing his best!

Wild card match ups could have two rematches from this week between the Eagles/Giants and Bears/Niners.

This is assuming you beat the Rams, because you don't it is all for naught!

Well then for the Redskins it's inverted just like real life. FedEx Field occupied by visiting fans. 1-7 at home, 3-3 on the road. smh

I'm almost positive that if you play your starters, I will hit Jay Cutler late on every play

I think you giving up a league worst 450 points has more to do with it than anything else! :p

So true

D:

Brooks isn't playing. Neither is Forte. I'll probably rest Carter Stone too. JPep can take another week of rest as well to fully heal! Going to give up chances at season awards to avoid injury!

I remember last year when DMs middle linebacker hit sticked Cutler in the middle of field full on. Cutler held onto the ball and his MLB is the one who ended up being hurt for 7 weeks. Cutler, beast! Here is hoping the defensive curse continues with injury, and why I plan on resting most of my defensive starting core!

So do any of the passing gurus of Madden want to take me under their wing and help me curb my int problem? I'm not sure how we'd do this, scrims or something, but I really want to stop throwing 30+ ints per season.

if you sit Brooks he'll just end up on kickoff coverage and he'll miss the playoffs due to some lame injury.

Oh god don't even joke about it! I'd be finished before the playoffs started.

I'm not a passing guru, but I'd recommend going into practice mode and attempt to get the timing down on routes. Seems like almost everyone this year has at least around 15 to 20 ints. The only way to stop them is to run the ball more!
