While I don't agree, alot of people have often associated media size with value.

Hell even in the SNES days, Nintendo Power would list how big cartridges for each games were to please these people. There was a big fuss about how DKC was the first 4Mbit game. Everyone went nuts. Same with the N64. Zelda OOT is a 32MB cart? MEGATON!!!1

I guess things aren't that different today.

I like DLC, unlike a lot of people. So I welcome this news.

I quite like the idea that when there aren't 2 games for a week, they release one game and one DLC pack for another game. Ya know, cos 1+1=2.

I like it just fine as long as it's Bomberman + DLC and not Track & Field + DLC. Having two releases decreases the chances of a dud week. No offense, Track & Field fans.

Offense very much taken. We will button mash you into oblivion.

In DLC News (which seems to be taking up the second game slot in recent weeks) The Behemoth has released some more incidental content to Alien Hominid HD.

More DLC, yet still no Achievement patching - nice.

I went ahead and downloaded it, then bought. Pretty fun.

I agree, I decided to buy it before I was even done the tutorial. Graphics could have used some polish, but it's nice to see a fairly deep game hit this week. $10 well spent for me.

There's one person who actually got the last achievement...no idea how.

And I'm really itching to buy something...I got 9200 freakin points to spend.

What was the last Achievement?

Collecting every hat in the game, a couple of them are bugged and impossible to get. It's suppose to get patched but it hasn't happened yet

How do you equip hats anyways? That's one thing I could never figure out, and I scoured the help menu/instructions.

The game is disappointingly bad. Firstly, I hate the graphical style. It's just a mess. I wish they would have gone with a more mature look, like the one they use when the characters are speaking or just something more refined.

The gameplay is also pretty simplistic, and uninteresting. Maybe this is just a bad demo, but I'm certainly not going to buy.

Need more band of bugs impressions. The tutorial was enjoyable, but from what I played it wasn't enough to warrant a purchase. Does it get better?

P.S. This game made me think of how awsome FF:Tactics would be on XBLA. God forbid squeenix did anything nice for xbox though.

I'm having a blast with the game, I'm about 8 missions into the story mode. The missions are pretty tough the game is far from a cake walk. I'm surprised at the amount of content in the game, there are a ton of modes, multiplayer, a level editor and again I ****ing love the music in the game. I'd say the game is worth the 800 points.

Yeah. Someone should set up a rule about this sort of thing.

Like...no selling new stuff until all your old stuff actually works.

Hey-oh!

Us Track and Field fans have been waiting over a year now.

You scrubby Bomberman bunch have only just begun your journey to dissapointment.

Get in line!

It gets much better.

I posted this in the official thread for the game, but it's pretty much dead for some reason.

I went ahead and bought this one. Pretty fun game.

It's pretty much your standard srpg, minus your whiney anime kids, loli art and retarded storyline about saving the world from some mist or some shit.

Graphics are fine by me, though I would have preferred some blood or gore when killing bugs. And the sound effects and music leave something to be desired.

But other than that, this is a really solid game with a lot of extra features that we usually pay $50 for, so for $10 it's a really good value in my opinion.

Also for people worried that it might be a cakewalk, the difficulty level is pretty high.

Yeah, seriously. I have most of the games from A-D 200'd, and the 180 in Alien Hominid is really a thorn in my side every time I flick through my XBLA list. Especially since it's because of a glitch and not because it's really hard or something. >:(

Wario64 said:

He hacks. He also has the unobtainable achievement in Texas Hold 'Em, among other unbelievable ones.

alkaline black said:
Speaking of achievements, has anyone in the world gotten all 200 points of Smash TV yet?
No, because the last achievement is also glitched and unobtainable. There are a few Smash TV pros out there that have done it multiple times to no avail, as well as a glitch that lets the common man cheat their way through the other achievements -- and should work for the full 200 but the game won't give out the achievement and Midway/DE won't do anything about it. Supposedly said pros have tried calling Midway and they just blame MS.

Options -> player options, or something like that. Same place you set the difficulty.

And, yeah, Alien Hominid's "help" screen is ****ing terrible. What does it say, like "kill everything"? Yeah, thanks. That really lets me know how to headchomp or crawl underground or whatever. It's far from the only game with a shitty "manual" too.

What is it the certification team does again? Oh yeah, excel at taking coffee breaks!

DD-11 said:

Are we really still using the expression "mature"? Really, I mean, seriously?

What's wrong with that? Why does the term mature offend you? It's a distinctly cartoon and unrefined look. A graphical look like JSRF's would be more appropriate for this game. I doubt many kids are going to really get into it.

Mature can also mean unrefined and that definitely applies to this game. The look just doesn't work. I also hate that they never actuall hit each other, the hit reaction and sound effect is delayed. The animation is sloppy. Unrefined. Not mature. A game like Blue Dragon is very polished in its look and pulls it off, this game just doesn't look like it was finished.

I really, really like this game. I agree the art style COULD have been so much more, erm, appropriate for the setting. At the same time, asking to make a game about bugs *edgier* seems a little silly.

I'm not asking for edgier, necessarily. But these things are going into battle, at least make them look the part. Why didn't they just use the style for the speaking models? It looks like several different artists were working on this independently. It doesn't look like a cohesive, well-planned game.

It's impossible because the multiplayer is borked and the last time I played it still was not fixed. The game randomly quits when someone gets the continue countdown and presses a button to join back in.

When I downloaded the Band of Bugs demo I was expecting a kiddy game but wow, this game is pretty deep. The production values are not the best, even for the genre, but the gameplay is extremely solid.

How many unit types are there in the game?

Many people have those achievements. The one that's impossible to get is the one for clearing the whole game in one credit.

It doesn't randomly quit: you can only use one continue in each room (per person) and it's automatically game over when you or your partner use a second continue. Midway should've added this somewhere, since a lot of people were confused over this.

It does not, sadly.

Don't be dissing PDA Mode!

Sadly, the main game has only local co-op. Everyone knows PDA is where it's at. If only they had included a level editor (like in the GC version) instead of charging for new maps.

Is there a reason why I see new screens for Lumines Live on Gamespot? Looks like new skins...but old skins from the PSP versions, I think.

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/games...=6172884&part=rss&tag=gs_screens&subj=6172884

Yes, yes there is Mr. Wario.

http://www.xblarcade.com/node/760

New skin packs confirmed for Lumines Live as part of some charity donation thing.

Purchase the Tokyo Club Mix Pack (aka SOS Charity Campaign Pack 4 skins, 350 MSP) between June 27th and July 17th and pat yourself on the back. A portion of your purchase with be donated to "climate protection NGOs and causes." Sure that sounds vague, but who cares? You're experiencing the music of the Tokyo Club scene and saving the world to boot! So, put down your digital guns and start dropping blocks.

For those heartless types out there that like the idea of an impending ice age, there are other ways to give Q your money without helping out Mother Earth. Arriving along side the Tokyo Club Mix Pack are the Booster Pack (20 skins, 600MSP), four Gamerpic Packs (5 pics/pack, 100MSP/pack), and a Lumines Theme (150MSP).

I think Band of Bugs has jumped to my favorite Arcade game. I'm about three missions away from beating the campaign mode and having a blast. The game has so much character its not even funny. Hopefully Ninja Bee puts out alot of DLC, they stated that the campaign was made entirely using their level editor so new content shouldn't be terribly hard to make.

Nah its supposed to be like that. Only one continued allowed per room.

Has anyone gotten the "beat the game without continuing" achievement? You'd think that'd be impossible, but I thought the same thing of the "get to wave 100" achievement in Robotron and some people got it.

So, which Arcade games have incredibly difficult or nearly impossible achievements to obtain? I know Alien Hominid, Smash TV .. what others?

Bejewelled. I bought at the launch of the 360 and still have zero achievements.
Some of the latter Zuma achievements are really hard.

I only now came back to the thread and saw your post, and went right away to mygamercard.net...

But the funny thing is, is that while he's shown as having 200 points on the leaderboards there, if you go to Xbox.com, he has 0 points and 0 Achievements for the game, so I'm guessing that it's a weird glitch on mygamercard.net, even though I've never seen the site do that before...

That's one thing I really hate in any game - earning something, and getting cheated out of it because of a glitch - I was really proud of beating Alien Hominid, since it was really rated by many as one of the hardest XBLA games out (not so hard to me, but still), and I was one of the first with the Head Chomp Achievement - so early that I'd have comeplete strangers sending me text messages over XBL asking me how I got it...

Ah, I see... ****er...

So I played the Band of Bugs demo. It's Gladius with bugs, which is a good thing. I'm tempted to buy it, although I find it terribly irksome that there's no "hit" animation. I'm always like, "WTF, did I hit that mofo or not?" I was playing with the sound low, but there didn't seem to be any audio cues that you hit either. I think I'm talking myself out of buying it.

No, read the thread! It's glitched and unobtainable and Midway/DE refuse to fix it.

Alien Hominid really isn't that hard at all.

200 in Robotron, like LakeEarth said, Mutant Storm Reloaded and Joust will bring you major respect, though. Also, Bejeweled 2 and Zuma like already stated. Zuma has one that requires you to beat the entire game while only losing 1 or 2 lives. I can't even beat level 10 with three lives, and there's three more after that!

Astropop is pretty hard, although nowhere near as hard as the above two. Tapper was hard, but highly doable. Centipede / Millipede fall into the same category.

Sorry, missed that post. Still INSANE that its possible to do. I only got the "beat level 1 without continuing" achievement by luck cause I have 3 "DUDE!!" powerups in a row which was very useful.

Speaking of luck, have other people gotten the "beat a stage in 5 seconds" achievement in Zuma? I knew only one person had it for a while because its so rare to even have the OPPORTUNITY to pull it off, let alone get it done when you finally have the chance to.

I personally don't mind having 1 really really hard achievement that only the elite can get. They can be awesome to try for.

Yeah, it's fairly common now. For a while there was a little glitch with downloading the demo to a second account and etcetera, which made it a lot easier apparently.

What you do is just load level 1 up over and over and over until the game gives. Really lame achievement. PopCap especially need to learn that getting lucky is not an achievement.

Speaking of achievements, why is everyone having such a hard time getting all 200 points in Jetpac Refuelled? It's not THAT hard... Is it just because people can't be bothered to complete the original version of the game?

Bankshot Billards seems impossible. One because the game isn't all that interesting and two, getting under par on all the golf tables is impossible not to mention some of the other achievements.

it feels like something else is amiss... gameplay... huh? the reviewer was very vague about that answer, almost like he just didnt want to like it.
