Read above. They're not typos, but the main game does not have online co-op.
Well, it's misleading at best. In the online section, there's a seperate line-item which just states: co-op. Then a seperate line item that says: Platers 2-4. If it doesn't have online co-op it shouldn't be listed as such. I do wish they'd taken the time to add it. :(

Monopoly is one of the dullest games of all time. Online or not.

Maybe youre the one thats just dull then. That game gave alot of kids a great time when they were growing up. Its not our problem you were raised in some dungeon.

Monopoly would suck online. It takes too long to finish who's gonna sit there for several hours playing one game of monopoly. People would quit out all the time. Then what? Play against the computer? That's lame. Part of the fun of monopoly is making "deals" with other players and I don't think you could get the computer to make deals with real live players. Boardgames in general would not be fun on XBLA.

That's a very sweeping and bold claim if you ask me.

So you're saying that boardgames won't come with a savegame feature?

people play pretty long games of multi-player LOTR:BFMEII if I recall...

Some board games, like Ticket to Ride and Settlers, already have HUGE online communities (a fan could probably think of more examples). Others, like Robo Rally, where you plan your turns at the same time (and once there is only one person left deciding, even the board game has a 30-second countdown timer) would be really well-suited to online play. I can see your more specific point that not all board games translate well, but not the general one--there are just too many different kinds of great board games.

Would live arcade ever get KOF love? or is there some kind of sony agreement with their games lately?

Believe :(

Monopoly would be cool, but they seriously need to quit making co-op achievements for XBLA in general. It's hard as shit to find people to play with sometimes, and you can't just start a game without other people.

I've asked this before but I never saw a response.

Will we ever see multiple games released in a single week on XBLA? I'm not asking for a promise just curious if it's a goal at all.

I'd play some Monopoly.

I love board games. REAL board games though, not Mario Party crap or whatever.

Btw, what the heck did they do to Paperboy's graphics? Seriously, the NES version looks so much cleaner.

Yeah, you'd think they'd add some more board games . . . they are really simple to make and good social outlets. UNO online is more of a social gathering than a game.

Paperboy was a bit of a disappointment . . . them blond bitches keep running me over. And the game is pretty cheap in that you get killed by stuff which pops up and gets you before you can see them.

A game of Monopoly shouldn't take more than an hour if you are playing by the proper rules. Yes that means no money on free parking, and you have to auction any unbought properties.

Having the 360 take care of all the bookkeeping and banking should only make it go faster. The one big issue would be the deal making interface, but Settlers looks to have a nice trading setup, and Uno has a pretty slick interface so I think they could make it work.

Yeah, seriously.

I understand the idea and it's a good one, just ahead of its time. It's just not wise to include co-op and versus achievements in every god damn game since not all of them will sell well enough to keep people playing. I realize that every dev wishes their game was the next UNO, but that's just not something they can predict (yet, anyway, as there aren't enough games/players to gauge trends accurately) and today the userbase is too small to be sure that every game will at least have SOME players.

Maybe this will go away now that MS are allowing optional added achievements with DLC. Devs could release their new or less-wanted retro classics with singleplayer-only achievements and if the game ends up getting an active online community, they could release some online ones.

Not gonna happen, though, I know. Digital Eclipse love their achievement template that they can just copy+paste with some mild variations.

They'll never answer that, because even if arne says "that's something we might look into if X happens and we may be able to possibly expand some day. maybe. possibly. perhaps." some less-than-talented gaming site will run with that and post "MULTIPLE XBLA GAMES NEXT WEEK CONFIRMED!!!!!" and the rumour will spread like wildfire and only cause more headaches for the XBLA team.

Yeah, or reduce the number of them to a very small amount. I wanted to try some Robotron online the other day . . . quickmatch . . . nothing . . . set up a match . . . wait 10 minutes, get bored, go do something else.

I think I encountered a bug in Doom. Played a game on XBLA, then resumed my single player game. For some reason, the game thought I was playing a deathmatch game since it showed the # of frags on my HUD. Ammo and weapons respawned too...and I can't exit the level. Argh

Restarting the game fixed it it seems. Now I have max ammo :lol

It's better value to pick up Doom 3 LE which includes Doom 1 & 2 as well.
sure, but doom + 360 wireless + sofa is a pretty cool combo.

I haven't had any problems with it besides the bug I just had

Doom XBLA is actually my first time playing the full version of Doom. I was stuck with the first episode in the past since I was too cheap to go beyond the shareware version :lol

Yeah, I don't regret buying Doom XBLA at all. But it is glitchy.

That's weird. I've played through every chapter twice without seeing a SINGLE bug, or glitch. Are you talking about the multiplayer?

For the most part, the crashes occur when you are exiting out of a Live game. I've had it crash on occasion when it's doing the level-end tally too though. It's a known, if not major, issue.

Monopoly would be great, but every time board games come up I have to mention the two most obvious ones and hope Arne/etc. sees them:

Risk (CPU die rolls would make the game go nice and fast)

and

Battleship! BATTLE-****ING-SHIP!

p.s.
As a diehard Monopoly fan and self-proclaimed expert, Mr. Lemming was correct: if you're playing by the rules (which hardly anyone does), a game of Monopoly doesn't take too long. And if the computer was handling all the other stuff that slows people down - counting cash, figuring out 10% for income tax, finding property cards, etc. - then I bet you could finish a game in 30 minutes.

Risk would be awesome. I loved that.

Maybe other board games too, such as Sorry and Life. :)

There are people in multiplayer? I don't think I've ever seen anyone.

They were there for about a week until everybody figured out that the game has some insane lag issues and they weren't going to put forth any effort in fixing it. Hell, they haven't even fixed the reversed friends leaderboards. :lol

They took the Alien Hominid info box off of Xbox.com, wonder if that means we're getting shit this week?

I'm smelling a surprise release. Something unannounced. Something completely shitty.

Uno skin or nothing probably. Maybe and UPDATE if we're lucky. I've told the XBLA Mascot to be ready this Wednesday just in case we need to roster him on.

Why the hell would you want games that you can play free flash versions of?

People can pull out all the sales charts and show me that this nostalgic crap is selling but personally I'm not happy at all with this shit, especially at these prices. PSN offers much better content at much better prices. XBLA can suck it.

So don't buy it, that's pretty simple.
