Will I get even more boo's if I add that Space Giraffe is awesome?

Can't say if it was actually fun to, you know, actually play...but it was one hell of a hilarious experience. Jeff Minter is ****ing insane in a brilliant way. :D

I'm glad that both games are great but... I want to try them! :( Especially MSE.

Partnernet - that's for the XNA guys, right?

I need to get in on that, sometime.
I really don't know, but I really can't imagine XNA kids can get in on PN.

pooteeweet said:
You sure talk about partnernet a lot. Have you no fear? Are you ninja-proof?
I can't decide if this posts warrants a joke reply or a serious one, so um, I'll just say that most of what I do is find something and post about how much I like it. Free advertising shouldn't piss anybody off.

(Unless the game is Wing Commander, of course.)

Hey, we're in the same boat there. I don't play with my own gamertag (don't even know if that's possible) on that machine or anything, so I force myself to just give the games a shot for five minutes because I want my scores and achievements on my real tag.

I really only ever get a little taste and then I'm back to being like everybody else in this thread, though I'm probably frothing over MSE more rabidly than anybody else after having seen its awesomeness. So, I guess in a way you should be glad you can wait until it releases and not have to go through the waiting torture like me?

I'm pumped for Super Contra and I'm gonna pick up Sonic which leaves me with 800 points eagerly anticipating something good next week.

No chance at a Simpsons the Arcade Game Release right? Even with the Movie coming out? :(
That would have made a much better megaton for the E3 press conference than Jeff Bell's Golden Axe.

For some reason, I'm blaming EA for this game not hitting XBLA. They're afraid it'll outshine their Redwood Shores-developed effort.

Or maybe it's in that game as an Easter Egg.

Everybody stop the hating and start the loving... Mutant Storm Empire lives!

It is good that we have a partnernet insider with us, he should not be silenced.

Does anybody mind if I freak out?

OMFG MUTANT STORM EMPIRE OMFG OMFG OMFG SO AWESOME OMFG AHHHHHHHHHH WHERE ARE MY SEDATIVES OMFGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

Seriously, though. It's so ****ing good. Expands and improves on the original in every way.

Yeah...I don't think you should be very excited for that one.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Wing Commander is fun, but it doesn't have enough depth to keep it fun for a lengthly period of time, IMO. Probably won't use 800 points on it, which kind of sucks because I was looking forward to it.

What exactly is wrong with both of them?

Super Contra: Extremely limited game-space, marred further by massive borders filled with ugly, ugly smudged "art." The game itself isn't much fun either, due mainly to the crappy, unresponsive controls and the perpetual feeling that everything is moving reaaaaaaallllly sloooooowwwww. Overall, very little was upgraded, and it's another crappy port job by Digital Eclipse. Nostalgia is its only redeeming quality.

Wing Commander: Everything.

Wing Commander Arena sucks..... the presentation is nice - slick menus and nice looking HUD, good graphics, etc - but everything else is shit IMO.

- Not fun to fly
- Cant change controls
- Camera positions suck... it's either too far back or too close-up

It's interesting to compare NeoGAF's reaction to Arena with the way it's been received at a certain high profile Wing Commander site. You'd think that diehard WC fans would be a bit more discriminating when it comes to the resurrection of their beloved franchise. You'd be wrong.
Yikes. Poor guy.
A True Believer said:
More games are on the way! Wing Commander Arena is groundbreaking for an XBLA title. Arena will sell and it will prove the franchise's viability to those cautious executives. The suits today are not the same ones who abandoned the series in 1998. Men like former Origin President Neil Young, who was instrumental in personally helping us establish this site a decade ago, are in charge of the company now. EA's Producers - fans themselves - are ready and willing, awaiting the go ahead to return to our universe. As First Decade begat Command and Conquer 3 so will Arena will lead to Wing Commander 7. I will stake my very reputation on it.

You are all the best of fans: you have personally kept Wing Commander alive and saved the series - just like we always promised you would. What's more, you've become my closest friends. There is no greater group of people in the world - and no one could ask for more from you than I have. You have my deepest thanks and my eternal gratitude. We've come a long way, and there's more work to be done... but today is our day. Enjoy Arena; you've earned it.

Now let's hit the flight deck!

I didn't Wing Commander was that bad - actually had fun fighting the bots and protecting sattelites. Not sure I'd pay $10 for it though.

Contra on the other hand, kinda sucked.

It finally works....took them 5 months to patch it but it finally works...

Yeah, I'm more looking forward to the 200/200 Alien Hominid that was released today than pocket-sized Super Contra or a crappy Wing Commander game.

How much is it now for the game with all packs and how many versions of solitare

I am starting to get put off buying cheap & quick little XBLA games that have a lot or are going to have a lot of content as DLC.

/Hypocrite as the ones I love I would be shouting for more.

Game = 800 pts
4 game packs = 150 pts each
Total = 1400 pts

Game = 18 versions of solitaire
Each pack = 10 versions of solitaire
Total = 58 versions of solitaire

So for a little less than $20, you get 58 varieties of Solitaire, including online multi-player, leaderboards, and custom card design. I'm happy with my purchase of Soltrio. The themes aren't bad either.

Sometimes I wish DLC and patched games would get re-reviewed or amended to take this into effect.

I've seen a number of people on my FL play this and when Ive spoke to them they have all been happy. Im skipping as Im just not a big Soli guy but as an example if I was I would be less likly to buy it as I would have to buy the full game and all packs so I felt I had the full game, maybe Im weird that way. Sometimes Im not in Alien Homnid I love that game but there no way I need any more PDA games :)

Good god. I can't fathom that many varieties of Solitaire.

I sure would like to hit my ball into a giant clam.
Sorry.

I actually dug the Soltrio Solitaire demo; the IGN review is absolutely terrible and I disagree with it on almost all counts (oh noes you play it on the tv and not on the pc as an alternative to actual work - what?). But do somewhat agree that they've overpriced it, especially with the flurry of extra gamepacks for more moneys :/ I would have grabbed it for 400pts, or 800pts if it had included all the gamepack contents. I might still eventually grab it anyway.

Nothing wrong with Solitaire; Solitaire was there before you were born! Soltrio is nice looking and I really like the music in the demo (almost reminds me of a mix of soothing fantasy music and Minimalism) - although does the full version have more tracks?

They play quite differently. You'd be surprised. The Solitaire board on Xbox.com asked players which versions of Solitaire they most wanted and I think there's still more out there that aren't available yet.

I think the game is worth owning if you have any non-gamers who ever come over or live in the household. Most people like Solitaire.
