Thin air? how about dedication and research? I'm not saying for sure it's CG, but CG is always evolving, anyone can take it to the next step with the right research and tools, it's just a matter of time.

The guy's face looks amazing, it looks true-to-life, but it looks "animated" to me. Not that it has any CG tells, but the movement just looks deliberately crafted. Normal people don't emote like that when they're talking unless they're hammy actors.
it's not really that realistic. Also the fact that he's almost entirely covered up helps obscure that.
Please tell me you were aware of GTTV before this and I didn't just tell you Santa isn't real.
Well, I did say that I don't believe it's CGI. I just don't get the argument of "here is the second pic, it finally proves all of you CGI people wrong".

I think you need to be the one asking yourself that. If you look at that pic and keep insisting its CG I have a bridge in London I would like to sell you.
People want to believe but that background is the same one from the interview. Its just a weird interviewee trying to be weird for the sake of being weird and people are reading more into it.
You have to ask yourself something with this too, if it really was CG, what you would be witnessing would be historic in terms of fidelity and execution. Use Occam's razor.

He's a very visible media figure in an entertainment industry. There's nothing wrong with him having and making some fun. The criticism for Doritos Pope was absolutely warranted, but this isn't even remotely similar.
Besides, Geoff Keighly is only a journalist in the same sense as Mario Lopez. He's entertainment. You should expect fun, gimmicky, collaborative stuff like this from him. I'd actually like to see more of it, instead of this bullshit overly-serious path that the internet (myself and GAF included) has forced industry reporting down.

This is all fun and games and all of us realize that Geoff isn't really a person we should be looking to for objective views on ANYTHING because you can't ever tell if he's being candid or if he's being the hype man he's paid to be by everyone in the industry.
I just wish he'd tone down the caricature a bit sometimes and at least try to appear genuine.

Cleared up the Twitter image a little. Tried to offer more definition. No matter what I did there was no definable definition on the neck area.
Also worth noting that messing with the levels of the image showed some rather interesting artifacts on everything apart from his head. Suggesting a higher resolution image has been layered atop the low resolution body.
Points worth noting:
- The upper eyelids only half drop. The attached skin doesn't move at all. (i.e. the eyebrow, the recess below the eyebrow)
- The lower eyelids simply don't move. I don't know about you, but I can't move my upper eyelids independently of the lower. More-so, when you are shocked or taken aback by something, the natural is to winch/squint.
- The point of light in his pupil doesn't move in relation to his head movement. In fact it's static within the pupil at all times.
- The shadows around the bandages on the right of the image are not consistent with the head movement

I think it would be more embarrassing to be convinced it IS CG when it's not, than vice versa. I mean, if it turns it out is CG, the doubters can easily say "Wow, that's really impressive, it fooled me!". If the "believers" are wrong, it's "Hey... that guy acted weird so I thought he was animated"

I appreciate the investigation. I do have a question. What was the real purpose of this Interview? I mean, the little Fox Engine thing at the end couldn't have been what this short interview was about was it?
I honestly do not think it is CG, so I am really trying to find a purpose. There was nothing new revealed. Why do you meet someone in a hotel so they can tell you that they cannot say a thing then show you some images that reveal nothing on an iPad?
If Mogren is CG, then I get it, Kojima is god, trolled us all, and this is one of the most clever "advertisements" or PR stunts for a game I have seen. However, if Mogren is not CG, then this whole interview makes not sense. It was simply to say that at GDC you will not what the game is and what system it is for. Kojima could have tweeted that.
I think the fact that nothing was really revealed, the 2 were never shown together, and it was so short has people grasping for a deeper meaning.
