"Everyone has 100 or 200 people they want to kill!"

Hooooly shit

Big Mom is great. One of my favorite antagonists of the series so far.

This chapter was all kinds of good. I honestly believe Sanji suspects something is up with Pudding at this point. He was way too calm around her. I have a feeling Big Mom is playing Sanji and the Vinsmokes, with Vinsmokes possibly playing their own game too.

I don't see Luffy winning this fight unless someone like Jinbei shows up as well. Still, I'm surprised at how resolute he is in his choice.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Wait WTF when did this happen .
Stop reading FT a good while now.

Literally the latest chapter.

To make things worse, this came after one of the major characters sacrificed himself and there was a big "emotional" moment (I use that in quotations as I don't care and knowing FT's track record, he'll get better somehow. Mashima is way worse than Oda in that regard).

I decided to read it and... Yup, that's orgasm magic.

I try not to often ponder what authorial intentions might be, but I have to wonder, what is the fairy tale mangaka's actual plan for his story here.

He's been doing soft-core porn chapters for a while now. There was an S&M chapter a while back and one of the characters--I shit you not--gets stronger by wearing more and more revealing clothing.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
Fairy Tail went from decent shonen to literally unreadable for me because of how sexualized it got. I mean, it was always there, but it went way over the line a while ago. Sucks because Groove Adventure Rave was amazing (IMO) from beginning to end.

Edit: WTF at that chapter!! You guys weren't exaggerating. That's almost into self parody territory. Should I laugh? Or should I mourn the fact that the shonen industry lets this stuff in now?

Hiro wants to be a hentai writer it's fairly obvious

I mean there is nothing stopping him from being one after FT done .
He should have fair amount of cash and can just lazy about doing hentai stuff lol.

Truth is FT always had fan service but it start getting so stupid later on .
Any way this going off topic so i end here .

Really wonder how luffy and rest going to get out of this mess.
OP going on break next week sucks.

Is it possible shonen manga, including One Piece, now do this type of disgusting stuff because it's forced on them by the editorial staff and Shonen Jump to bring in numbers? After all, the magazine keeps losing its popular titles and hasn't had a proper hit in a while besides Hero Academy.

I mean, I can't speak for what goes on behind the scenes, but going through things like author's notes for various manga and assorted interviews kind of shows that they either like dirty jokes or just like drawing sexy people doing sexy things. Manga is still a really personal craft.

Really cynical, pandering fanservice is usually more common in anime, where there's more hands in the pot and more money to be lost.

Nah .
Some of the authors just like doing that stuff .
Plus they don't care about magazine sales as much any more since vols sell a lot .

It should also be noted that Hero Academy is not a hit but a mid level series if we go by SJ .

I will never forget the chapter where Erza defeated her opponent despite literally losing all 5 of her senses, because friendship. Most ridiculous thing I've read in quite a long time, to the point where I wouldn't blame anyone for dropping the manga right then and there.

Excuse me it was not friendship the direct quote was " It's because she's Erza"

I dropped the series after that...I still stayed too long

Yea, which is even worse actually,, but I was talking about what she said, which was something along the lines of there being a light within her, which is the path she has walked until now alongside her friends.

Also when I looked this up, it reminded me that on top of her 5 senses being taken away, the pain that she could feel was still being multiplied, so it makes even less sense that she managed to win lmao

Speaking of friendship, I often like to discuss and compare with my friends as to how both FT and OP address it. The camaderie of the guild vs. the (usually) unbreakable bond of the crew. They're both undoubtedly shounen products in a lot of ways, but OP just does it so much more effectively, and their wins are typically far more believable even when it's seemingly done under the guise of a "friendship boost". Whereas FT on the other hand, just wants to drown you in it.

I feel like one of the reasons that also help to make people (Or me anyways) feel this way is largely due to how the OP universe works. What we'd call plot armor and such, Oda has always strongly encouraged us to refer to it as luck or fate. Protagonists somehow getting back up after a beat down? It's been established that many characters in One Piece have insane endurance/stamina, with Luffy and Zoro being two particular highlights. (Luffy arguably moreso because he's made out of rubber) And so on.

One Piece 845:

This would be a really good time for Jinbei to show up and save Luffy somehow.

Yes I am waiting for this too. Also I don't trust Sanji's dad at all. I'm wondering if he's planning something else, he has his whole army on whole cake island after all

Shonen manga aren't a monolith. Ecchi and borderline softcore porn has been in manga since the 70's.
It all comes down to the author's personal taste, the audience the manga is targeted toward, and what the regulations of the magazine are.

As dumb as this sounds I wonder if we can look to World War parallels for how this "war" is gonna end. That eagle on the front of the car in the newest chapter is interesting. Also, upon rereading she has to be evil. All that lightning and drama in the background is in purpose.

...oh god I'm not ready to be a One Piece plot guessing idiot

The whole chapter, Sanji had this shade over his eye. If he truly trusted Pudding and was genuine about wanting to marry her, that shade wouldn't have been in the last few panels, but it was.
You know where I'm coming from? It's a minor detail really, but I think it was Oda's intention to show us that Sanji trusts nobody at the moment.

I saw some people suggesting that Sanji was "testing" Pudding this chapter.

When he refers to the wristlets, he mentions briefly that their only “recourse” is to steal the keys is to defeat Big Mom's entire crew. He says “our”, at least in the translation, so that includes Pudding.

But as we read, he illustrates the helplessness of the situation, he tells about everything, first he’s aware of his friends now being in unbelievable danger as they are on enemy territory, so he cuts out the Strawhats, then he doesn’t expect any help from his family (obviously), and he says that he is just going with the flow so he can get his friends safety, but that won't even happen because Big Mom's army is marching against them.

She apologizes, then Sanji said it's not her fault. He says that he was in hell 13 years ago and his friends, they're all his savior. And now everything is back to hell and his adventure is over.

Instead of offering to help him now and being sympathetic with his saviors that are going to be hunted by her mom, Pudding jumps to the conclusion that they’re still going to get married.

His face after seeing her cry is really weird, like he is alarmed.

Pudding realizes that she comitted a slip, and apologizes, then Sanji starts to think about the Strawhats and apparently he is not even paying attention on what she is saying anymore. Funny that Pudding said the same thing Nami said to Sanji during the slap, according to the official translation (Goodbye! Sorry for overstepping our bonds / I've overstepped my boundaries.. my apologies!).

It feels like he told her that information of his past and present situation to get a certain reaction from her.

Oh, Sanji is definitely putting on airs. I don't think it's possible for a woman to deceive Sanji - his pervert sense allows him to pick up on their true nature/intent/feelings.

In this chapter, Sanji says luffy isn't stupid enough to take on Big Mom's army. Do we really think that's something Sanji would say or think about Luffy?

His entire plan for getting out of this mess seems to be going with the flow, as he told Pudding - but it's only as a means of getting closer to Big Mom. Make her think she's crushed his spirit, and wait to make his move when the time is right.

I think this moment is the triggering moment to have Luffy become an Awakened DF user.

Here's why:

It follows the shonen power up trope incredibly well and even Luffy's previous powerups (such as figuring out Gear 2nd against a dire battle vs Blueno).
Rainy/turbulent battlefield (dbz comes to mind along with countless others), friend is in pain/hurt/killed, main character taken to the brink against unthinkable odds, main character blindingly pissed off and last but not least previous bad guy alludes to that next step (dofflamingo) needing to be taken in order to beat the biggest bad guys.

No I mean he didn't plan to fight at all before heading to whole cake island, now he's fighting an entire army :p
He didn't plan on actively fighting Big Mom because his plan was to just barge in and take Sanji with him.
With how things have turned out, he has to adjust his plans. He might even have to defeat Big Mom.

He had that all the time though, not only with pudding. When he met luffy and nami he had those shades too.

Fairy Tail is in Weekly Shonen Magazine and I wouldn't use the manga as a metric for other shonen. The only thing Fairy Tale is good at is having female protagonists that actually have and win fights.

When it's not using Fanservice, plus giving bullshit wins because "Fairy Tail".

It wasn't this bad in the beginning or at least i can't remember being this bad.

Nope, it has always been bad, but the later arcs just get worse. The only redeeming quality about it is the mangaka's work ethic. Hiro pumps out chapters, color pages, and specials like a madman.

... It's unfortunate that it all sucks :/

Considering how some of those fights go with the unnecessary fanservice, I'd be reluctant to say it's good at it. More like, it's just there.

I gave up Fairy Tail not long after finding out the protagonist has the most generic protagonist power of all time. Fire. That's it. Just fire. He didn't even use it creatively, just burnt shit.
possibly been fixed since, don't care enough to find out.

Maybe Nitro has something to with her thrid eye or some connection to it.

We also don't see tears coming from Pudding forehead so it's either an art mistake, thrid eye doesn't act like a normal eye or something else.

OP going on break next week sucks.

There's nothing from stopping him from doing it now. The guy already does insane things like "Three chapters in one week" and two chapters a week for a month, or running three series at once for short periods, so it's not like he's incapable of setting time aside to draw porn as a hobby instead of doing that

Yeah, I was wondering about the third eye and tears.. but I guess that's an art mistake or a choice by Oda to keep secrecy about her.

___

The new SBS you would expect lots of questions about Pudding but I heard that there is none Oda chose to answer.

There is a theory from sawyer about Pudding, but it's more speculation, but there is something interesting about how "clocks" are part of the decoration from her shop and her room.

It's also interesting that Nitro the Jello and Rabyan the Carpet were at Pudding's room and she told Sanji they would meet alone. If they are homies, they could've been spying for Big Mom, so maybe Sanji realized that?

The lightning popping outside the window when Sanji embraced her does give some vibes of "bad ending" incoming.

I think Pudding does love Sanji but I wonder if she has some sort of infatuation or obsession that would make her not give up on him at this moment... like a yandere or something. If she decided to offer Sanji help, I guess it would be easier to trust her.. it can't really be that tough for her if she was already going to take the blame in his place and she seems really close to Big Mom.

The thing I am more concerned about is Sanji giving up on Luffy after all the faith Luffy is showing that he will come back, that's why I really hope he has a plan.

Considering Lola has an identical sister, maybe Pudding has a three-eyed sister?

Waiting on Nami to possibly take control of that storm and use it against the army. Can't say I trust pudding either.

They both have the gel homie on their shoulders, though. It would be way too similar if that were the case.

I think Pudding genuinely loves Sanji but she's a bit of a nut, so she purposely hindered the Strawhats in the Seducing Woods with Big Mom's support. Remember Lola herself had her screws loose in Thriller Bark as well when she was first introduced. So far every one of Big mom's daughters has been shown to be a bit twisted.

One of the highlights of this latest chapter for me was honestly Bobbin lol. I've been looking forward to see this man again for a long time. Especially since this arc has started. The anime just made him look so . . . intriguing.

As badass as Luffy's last stand is, I'm really hoping he can't take this dude out in his weakening state.

And speaking of Luffy, Jesus. The balls on this man! This is the type of shit I expect out of the future Pirate King.

Finally bobbin appears! Been waiting for this dude ever since his reveal back on fishman island. Boi-oi-oi-oi-oing!

Bobbin is awesome!
