Thanks to this thread constantly hovering the first page, I watched one episode Friday night and ended up marathoning the series this weekend. Damn you all, because slice-of-life isn't my usual anime fare.

Happens to all of us. But really, WHAT TEAM?

That said, if he actually ends up with his sister, I'll be pissed, because they've done a much better job of making me believe these two want to be good siblings to each other (wanting and succeeding two different areas, of course, but I thought the end of episode 9 showed movement to that, especially in Kirino's case), not that they want to bone.

Even if you want to think Kuroneko's "Ideal World" is pointing to that, to me, she just wants these two to know they both care for each other, and being flippant to one another isn't the way to do it. She thought once she did that, she would no longer be needed (possibly because Kyousuke wouldn't forgive her, or Kirino for that matter), but her updated take means perhaps the siblings could have a healthy relationship, and she could also be part of it.

And I hope for more Sour Bags in the final episodes.
Welcome to the dark side :D

I'd hardly call this slice-of-life though, it's more of a romantic comedy.

Good good, now. But you forgot something. What's your allegiance, son? WHAT TEAM!

I let out an audible "YES!" when he said he'd date Kuroneko, so I like the two of them together, but I don't know if I want that to be the end goal. I want to see them in a situation not guided by her notebook.

Speaking of the ladies' in his life, I would hope they keep Manami in the friend zone - she seems to have accepted it, and giving her mixed signals now would be cruel, and I think Kyousuke has enough sense to realize that.

Oh dear. That's optimistic.

Team Kirino member here!

Its always great when 100% Tsun and 0 % dere characters finally show their sweet side. I loved her reaction in the latest episode when Kuroneko was asking if Kyousuke would still go out with her if he knew how Kirino really felt. From what she just said you would think it wouldn't really matter what he chose, but from the look on her face you knew she would have been crushed if he still decided to go out w/ Kuroneko.

BTW, am I the only one who really feels like this could've done with a third season? It seems like they're squeezing together content that would benefit a lot from being allowed to breathe. For instance, episode 8 could easily have been two episodes.

I love all these new juniors who are Kirino fans! Where have you all been while I fight the good fight alone!?

Yup. We've said a few times it feels way too rushed in parts.

I only learned about this thread after posting in the PS3-game thread. My apologies :p I've been a Kirino fan since the series first aired though.

I think the first three episodes suffered the most. The later ones haven't felt squeezed so much as simply very dense IMO.

I assume you got my PM? :D Also, if you didn't see the game got a new safe thread. There's a new trailer too.

I've read a bit of the spoilers for the later novels, and it seems like there's a lot of stuff that needs to happen that they don't have the episodes for. Even with the extended continuation thing they're doing. Not to mention the novel we don't even have yet!

Really? Sigh... I'm up to around the next episode. Beyond that I'm going in blind, but I really hope you're wrong... Or that we get a buttload of OVAs afterwards.

And yes, thank you for the PM :)

Yeah. It especially boggles my mind because first season sold so well in dvd/blu-ray market that the anime itself is probably pretty profitable unlike many other adaptions that are there to only promote the manga/light novels and don't sell anything in disc market so it makes sense that in those cases they try to end it when the manga/light novel ends. Weird that they are running so fast trough the novels.

Yeah given the popularity of it, I'm shocked it didn't get a two cour run.

I would've liked more comedy focused episodes like S1. The drama sucked back then, although the drama this season is better.

The Aysae Love Touch episode has been my favorite so far.

I'm sure we'll get some OVAs afterwards to cover the remaining content, provided that S2 sells as well as S1. I'm just looking forward to this year's comiket. It's going to be OreImo heaven :D

I didn't know they did that. Do they do so regularly at Comiket?
tabgraphics, the guy who did OreImo's character design, always has a booth in the doujin section where he sell his work. He's had it since before he got his breakthrough, and now it's one of the most popular booths. I took a few pictures of some of the stuff I got from him at Comiket 80 and 81.
You mean the industry booths? Im an anime noob, but I always thought Comiket was more about the fan created works than new published ones.
But what do you think the designers who are pro now did before they went pro? They self-published at Comiket and got noticed. Also, a lot of manga have started as doujinshi, yuruyuri and Strike Witches are two examples just off the top of my head.

The industry booths can be interesting too though, but the lines are ridiculous.

Kirino definitely gets too much hate, even from the original author! HER VA goes a long way to make her more likeable, the way she gets so enamored with the otaku culture is funny and cute.

Ayana Taketatsu voices all my favourites, from Kirino to Azuna, Sugu to Labrys. She's all over.

I've heard about that too how the author hates her. Dunno where, probably here somewhere.

The only thing I really don't like is how this whole thing is obviously just Kirino plot armor to keep the incest shippers form leaving the series until the last volume.

Kuroneko was winning too easily for two long and I can imagine the editors and author were running the risk of losing sales as a result.

I can't find it anymore. :(
It's been years but I seem to remember him saying tha his favorites were Kuroneko and Saori.
All I know is that the only route that the author insisted on doing for the PSP games was hers, so... Also, I find it hard to believe that the person who wrote this hates kirino.

IDK, most people I know are much more upset about Kuroneko's treatment in the last episode and have thought about quitting the series because of that. Im a Kirino fan, but people I know watch the show in spite of her instead of because of her.

Just caught up, I realised what happened in episode 9 was probably going to happen, but as long as Kuroneko is still around I couldn't care less. Kirino is fine too, but Kuroneko is still the best <3

Alas, the buzz the end of this ep. built between this thread and the Spring thread was stronger than the actual event.
Nonetheless,

More Aysae is always good, almost good enough to help me forget that Kanako will be there.

*High fives* :D
Also, where did all these new kirino lovers come from ?_?
Now that the Kuroneko dream is over, it's our time to rise.

I'm disappointed that everything went back to normal.
The reset kinda sucks, makes it seem like everything that happened was pointless. Guess we'll see if theere's any awkwardness between the crew now after all is said and done. There's more stuff coming though, so don' drop it yet!

You're going to slow ultima! Get to the next episode! Let the salt run through you.
And of course animeGAF is gonna overreact!

Anyone else read the manga? I've been re-reading it and it's a strange beast. Kirnio is..how do i put it?..less tsun and more dere? And you guys think the show i pandering? It's child's play compared to the manga. Sheeseh.

The art is strange.

If it's one thing I'll give it credit for it giving us a Manami that sprouts dog ears and a tail when she gets excited.

I've tried reading the manga, but I can't stand that art...

I've been curious about the manga...I think now I'll have to see how much pandering there is myself.

I disagree. Spoilered thoughts follow.

Everyone's thoughts are out in the open now, Kirino seems a little less tsun and a little more dere, Kuroneko's in a new town, might not be able to hang around as much (Kyousuke even mentions this episode 9's ending), and where the hell is Saori?

The dynamics are changed, even if it's ever so slightly.

Yeah, it's hard to deal with sometimes, but it has it's charms. Kirino's reactions are pretty fun. And she kinda has an ahoge, which is one of my favorite anime things.

If you really love the source material like I do, it's worth at least looking into.

There are some pretty cool (non-h)doujins too that are funny to read too.

I love this show so much. Say what you want about the character's ages, it's just so damn funny. And the cast is so likeable and easy to root for.

And of course animeGAF is gonna overreact!

She couldn't match Kirino's PS3 butt!
Preemptive retreat. It's not a hard equation to understand!

Yes, I know the image is from Nichijou but I still find it appropriate.

Nichijou and Yuuko are always appropriate. Especially with me!

Oreimo S2 9

"I'll make you forget all about her, Oniiii-chan~"

Hahaha. Jealousy and humorous melodramatic suffering all around! I mean, the entirety of the second act was an unneeded spelling out for the audience, but it wouldn't be Oreimo if it were subtle. Also Kyou cries like a punk several times.

I found the serious final confrontation funny as I imagined the various fan art and shipping bloodshed going on in other websites. But shifting to a more serious perspective, it would seem Kirino did not forget all of Kyou's deeds as on now. Its been showed before, but never blurted out until now (the inevitable blurting). Though she still says she hates her brother when we have all known for a long time about her intense, intimate, raw, uncut love for him!

In the end, Kuroneko chickened out of
the chosen girl choice awards
afraid of the answer, the vocal TRUTH!

In short and sweet,

9:

Kirino: Then we're stuck.
Kyousuke: I guess we are.

GOD DAMMIT WHY WON'T YOU TWO JUST FUCK ALREADY AND GET IT OVER WITH

or

He will have both in the end.

Aww come on!!! Kanakana-chan is a great character. I think she actually enjoys performing as Meruru but has some weird complex towards otakus because of her famous older sister.
