(sorry, poor quality)

I think it would be a good idea if everybody gives IUseThis a visit. Since the first time I visited it, I can't refrain myself from visiting it in a regular basis.

For those who don't know what it is, imagine the site as a Digg-like site in which you can "add" the apps you use and share your collection with the world. I've come across with some pretty good apps I didn't knew about just by looking at other people's list. Try it!

My profile is located here. I'm still adding apps -and looking for new ones-. It would be a good idea to post everyones profiles.

Hope it's useful!

Journler version 2.5 Beta is out, I love it.

Damn, this program got even better recently. So many features.

I think Journler destroys VooDoo Pad unless you are really taken with the wiki format. It just has far more abilities and plays with more file formats. Can't beat the price, either.

Alright, I'm pretty sure this hasn't been asked already...

... is there any tools for OS X that allows me to convert mp3s to mmf's?

What other alternatives are there to share a large file with friends and famil other then quickshareit?

I tried to send a 200mb zipped filed with quickshareit and it never seems to do anything.

Any other alternatives? I want to be able to share my pictures and home videos with other people over the net.

I heard about pando, but haven't tried it out yet:
http://www.pando.com/

other than that, the free upload sites such as rapidshare, megaupload, filefactory and others are a decent alternative, too.

Thanks dude.

I will try out Pando tonight and give my impressions.
Update. Used Pando a few times. It worked, but it still has some kinks as sometimes uploads and downloads just stop for no reason. If they can iron out the kinks and up the speed it will be a lifesaver for sending large files for people who will never be able to use FTP.

Search through this thread and setting up my MBP, useful stuff!

Is there a Mac Soulseek? uTorrent or a good torrent app?

Is there a program ( or hell a way in the settings) to make icons and webpages bigger. My monitor is 1280 x 1024 and everything is really small....its killing my eyes.

Get Transmission for torrents and Frostwire for everything else.

I'm gonna piggy-back on this thread since it's all OSX talk and I just got a Mac:

How do I swap all my favorites from Firefox on my PC to Firefox on my Mac?

Go to the Universal Access Pane in System Preferences and enable Zoom. It works really well.

Go to bookmarks/organize bookmarks and file/export your bookmarks and placed in a shared folder and import that file into your Mac version.

Alternately, use Foxmarks for a free service to keep bookmarks in sync between computers.

Now, any good way to hide tiny scratches in the MBP case? =(

I saw someone mention Camino. I just recently switched to Mac, and have been using Firefox thus far. Are there any advantages to using Camino?

No. Camino is a rarely updated and stripped down version of Firefox to be more or less a Safari clone. Firefox just makes more sense due to the add-ons and themes.

Safari on the other hand has gotten alot faster, but I still don't enjoy the browser very much. I like having the quick bookmarks tab on the left.

I deleted my Stickies application. I keep a lot of mental notes down on Text Edit, but I think Stickies would be more proficient. I deleted it years ago, and I can't find it anywhere on the net. Can someone link me, or pleaseeeeeee YSI it for me or something?

I really like Front Row on my mac, and I actually enjoy having all of my media in one place (iTunes) easily cataloged. I recently found this little app.

Lostify
Lostify allows you to basically tag any media file with all the appropriate information for iTunes allowing it to show up in the desired place. I'm in the process of putting all the movies that I have on my mac into iTunes and tagging them approrpriately so that they'll show up in Front Row like they're supposed to. It's a simple app and really small niche utility but for me it's incredibly useful.

Now if I could only decide on what codec to go with... How about some help from yous guys? Most all of my media files are *.avi files, but I want them in iTunes, so I need to convert them to either h264 or mpg4, the upside is that not only will both codecs work in iTunes, but they'll both work on my PSP too! I don't watch video on my iPod much, so that's not really a consideration. Of h264 and mpg4 which has a smaller file size and better quality? Either? Neither? is there a better option?

It seems Sticky Windows hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet. It's freeware and I realy like it.

Site description: Sticky Windows is an application for Mac OS X Tiger which extends the tab browsing experience to the Desktop. Sticky Windows shrinks your windows into tabs when you drag a window towards the edge of your screen, providing you with a completely clutter-free workspace. By clicking on the tab the user can show and hide the window.

There's a promo video on the website that show how it works.

RAM Question: Hey guys, do you know of any software that can clear or reset the ever-amounting percentage of RAM that my apps take up? I know that, as software gets left running, it gradually takes up more and more RAM. I upgraded my RAM to 1.5 gigs a couple weeks ago (running a PPC iMac G5 Rev B) and after a couple of days of my computer being left on, the amount of inactive RAM I have gets reduced. Is there something you guys use to periodically clear this without having to restart the computer?

Quickshareit is nice, but only if you're only planning on sending the file to a few people. Using it to host images posted to a high traffic site like GAF doesn't work well at all.

FileBrowse-PreviewZooming.jpg

had to mention this program, it's one of those that uses osx's capabilities so well and still remains a very simple and straightfoward app. it's called Filebrowse, and it's the sweetest image browser i've ever used, barring a couple of missing features. great stuff.

Okay, seriously... refine this thing a bit, and then Apple needs to buy it and replace the current Icon view with it.

Thanks Andrea! That JustLooking program is awesome!

I've been wondering for a while (I got my Macbook two months ago) - is there a way to watch/preview all images while browsing them in Finder? Like XP has? Because right now the only option I know to watch a preview of image before opening is watching the folder in rows and selecting one image, so it will show that particular image as a preview. I'm wondering if there is a option to view all of them as small icons in OSX, or if I need a particular program for it (maybe like the one mattiewheel suggested)

Camino 1.5 came out a little while ago. It uses OSX APIs more than Firefox, which is nearly all XUL. The only thing you don't get are extensions, and most of those cause memory leaks anyway.

I much prefer Camino to Firefox.

Camino >>>>> Mac Firefox.

It's a great, zippy, stable, lightweight browser that has replaced Safari as my default for the past few months.

Resurrecting this thread to ask for a program with the following featureset:

- Display a series of images in a given folder, numbered or otherwise.
- Fullscreen mode w/ black background and configurable auto-zoom
- Easy navigation between images through mousewheel or whatever.

Sounds like you're talking about Aperture.

So selecting the images and hitting the space bar - then hitting the full screen button isn't enough? You can switch from thumb to full view. Limiting but cheap!
