I installed Mavericks...I think. Where are these '200 changes' hiding?

Edit; okay tabbed Finder is rad, I'll take it.

Of the features that Apple highlights on the website, tabbed Finder is the only one I care about at all. I'm just hoping for better stability and performance than I got with ML.

So far it seems a little quicker performance wise. It's been up and down with each OS, but I still think Snow Leopard proved quickest on my machine. But then again it could just be me, I'm semi-convinced my mid-2010 Pro is a dud given all the repairs its needed over the years.

So there's really no way for me to upgrade my non-MAS iWork apps to the MAS versions? I've got a retail disc which was included with my previous Mac.

Dumb question probably, but is there a LEGAL way to get this without having to go through the APP STORE? I don't have a credit card and it's impossible to make an account (outside the US) without one.

I don't know how grey the area is on torrenting free software that's still needed to be purchased.

Problem is, in order to install it, you NEED to have an Apple ID that has Mavericks attached to it as being purchased. So you can't just torrent it and have it work unless you have a friend who has purchased it and know his/her login information.

Call Apple? Where are you?

There are a bunch of different ways to make an Apple ID, and only one of them lets you in without a CC. I just did it in September for someone at work, but I don't remember whether it was via Apple's website, iTunes, App Store, iPhone, etc. I'm outside the US as well.

I don't believe that's true, at least it wasn't for Lion and Mountain Lion. Haven't updated to Mavericks yet but will try if it's really needed.

So apparently if you install the trial of iwork trial they prompt you with an update for the apps through the app store. Seems like it worked for me.

I think there is a skip option when making an account in iTunes.

Yeah, I'm not seeing "Send to iPhone" under the Share button either. Both iPhone and iPad (and Mac) are all signed into the same iCloud account, so no idea what's going on there.

PM me if you have trouble. I'm in Canada too. Might be able to help you out.

Thanks! I actually got it to work but they are not making it easy:
- Connected through a VPN into the US
- Click on a free app in itunes,
- THEN enter details of an US account with a fake US adress
- Now you are allowed to download free software

WHEW! Exited to test the new OS, the Totalfinder dev. must be crying

I was 99% done downloading... and the fucking power went out for 30 seconds.

Now I have to start from ZERO.

I am going to murder someone.

We discussed it last page. Seems it's just Garageband because they've gone with free with IAP/DLC instead of $5/10 like it was.

Ah, okay. Thought I ran into a bug and my OCD went into overdrive. Already had to redo my entire installation since a clean install erased my Recovery Partition.

That iWork 09 trial worked fine. Installed it, started pages (immediately closed again without going through the tour/setup process) and the app store gave me the update option. ^_^

Is there something better than flip4mac that plays .wmv files? It's the only app that says it's compatible.

Edit: Also, is the iWork update free for people who had the previous version? I bought it when I bought my mac in '09 and it just says update in the app store so I just want to make sure it's not upgrading to some bastardized trial version that I have to find my disk to reinstall iWork with later on or something.

Well I jumped the gun. So far so good on my Macbook Air summer 2012. 4GB of RAM.

The transitions and overall speed of the OS is snappier, Finder tabs are awesome, and that SMOOTH animation when doing the gesture for launchpad.

Battery hasn't been tested since I literally just installed it 10 min ago. Another thing I'm hoping for is more apps being optimized for 10.9. (I know that comes with time)

Have you tried VLC?

Any way of changing the dock open app color? It's quite bad as I can't see really well the apps I got open :/

I use the mamepgui frontend to use SDLMAME instead of command line. Not perfect but it works, and you're not waiting years for new builds.

Hmm. Thanks I'll check it out.
