Game looks really promising so far. I'm down with anything Insomniac does.

I'd heard rumors the style was supposed to be cartoony 60s-70s / retro spy-fi, and was pretty excited to see it. But now it looks like the midpoint between Brink and Resistance.
I suspect EA just focus-tested it to hell, and I think it's going to be really hard for the game to stand out now.

This. Really nice to see their sense of humour and love for bizarre weaponry in a more adult setting.DUFFMCWALIN said:Game looks really promising so far. I'm down with anything Insomniac does.

Stumpokapow said:It's definitely the Sony first-party game I've enjoyed most this generation and I don't see what's so crazy about saying it. Great pacing, tons of content, nailed the fundamentals of the series and added some great working new mechanics. Looked great. Sounded great.
Yeah. First R&C: All 4 One and now another multi-player game. Why the hate for single player games all of a sudden? Is there really such a market for online-only games?

I whole heartedly agree, what a wonderful game.AAK said:> Every other Sony published game this gen.![]()

-PXG- said:Insomniac's shtick of having "crazy" weapons lost it's appeal ages ago. The characters seem horrendously generic, but not in the exaggerated sense where it's intended to be funny and to poke fun at them. Instead, they're...well...generically generic. Just boring and not interesting. Also, the name and logo makes think about Nerf guns. Change it.
Like other's have said, it's a Ratchet game for adults. No thanks. I've had my fair share of Ratchet games almost every single year since 2002. Pass.
Next.

It's a shame you didn't play Crack in Time, it's one of the best games on the PS3.

-PXG- said:Actually, I played and completed Crack in Time (as well as Tools of Destruction). I played, but never beat Quest for Booty. They were fun, had few new features, but were all too much like the others. If it ain't broke don't fix it, but damn, don't release the same game (almost) every year (PS3 had longer cycles because of Resistance)
I don't get GAF's love for Insomniac. Talented team, yes. Without at doubt. But their games are okay at best and vastly overrated here.
Massa said:I thought the hover boots in Crack in Time were the best innovation to 3D platformers in years.

So where have you seen gameplay of Overstrike, and which parts were "PS2 looking"?Ozzykamikaze said:I thought the animation was kinda PS2 looking. Hopefully gameplay looks better.

First time I've heard someone claim a cinematic looked like a PS2 game.![]()
Ozzykamikaze said:I'm talking about the cinematic. It didn't look very good for a new game. I'm obviously not talking about gameplay.
