There are probably proper stats out by now, but I've played 25 hours and have no skins I want and about 600 gold total. It's good that I don't play for unlocks, but as an engaging progression system this is pretty crap.

Yep, I would be willing to bet that not having exposure to negative stats, combined with highlighting successes does more for improving the aggregate player skill level than exhaustive stat tracking would.
Especially when it comes to targeted harrassment based on per game performance. I'm much more willing to try again with a character after seeing two bronze medals in a round than I would if I was low on a leader board.
Avoiding the obvious jibes from wankers is a bonus.

The ones I'm surprised I haven't played more are Pharah (#16, 40 minutes), Zenyatta (#14, 40 minutes), and Hanzo (#11, 1 hour). I thought I enjoyed all of them more than that.
(Although Pharah has my lowest E/D of any non-Tank/Support with 1.95.)

She's... fun? Boosting is an amazing mechanic and the fact it's not limited by verticality just adds to that. Playing her to constantly engage and disengage with her thrusters to harass enemy positions and be a nuisance you can't get rid of around the objective is some of the most fun that I have in Overwatch.
You're right, though, it's usually only actually good to pick her if you've already got a Reinhardt on your team because she can't fill the role of a primary tank and sometimes it's way better to pick Winston since their roles are pretty similar. But she's got a fun playstyle.

This is all based on what I usually play due to most random teams I get stuck in since most people gravitates towards kewl ninja sniperz. Although McCree was my most anticipated character because I am a big fan of westerns so it kind of sucks that he is so over tuned at the moment.

Have you tried shooting opponents in the head?
It does more damage than hitting them in the body
I suppose I'm comparing this to CSGO cases and not progression systems in other games.

Like MMORPG's and MOBA's I tend to gravitate towards tanky, support, utility. Also my aim sucks too much to be good at offensive.

I find her cannons to be kind of unsatisfying actually. It's just short range moderate damage. It's like being a weak Reaper that doesn't have to reload. There's no complexity or punch there. So the fun is purely in knowing when to engage or disengage.
I also might just be biased towards feeling like I'm contributing to the team in a very meaningful way. Not content to be just a random character that does stuff.

Place her turrets in choke points where people need to come through above doorways ect... then basically help support your team. Shoot out orbs or beam people if they get close enough. Don't run out into the front lines with her.
Also prepare for your turrets to get destroyed frequently. This is fine though since you can rapidly place 3 at a time. Your real ultimate goal is to get your teleporter up as soon as possible to aid your team.
Also, DON'T PLACE IT IN AN OBVIOUS PLACE. I see far too many symmetra's placing teleporters in the worst places out in the open for them to easily get destroyed.
She is best played on Defense although if you can make it work on offense for you the Teleporter can be an absolute life saver on Offense to keep the presure of a push up.
stack turrets around corners in small enclosed areas
spam right click at chokepoints
hold left click if anyone comes into your nest
put the teleporter behind the point
switch off symmetra if you lose A
good video, what's funny is it doesn't show anything about the tickrate, that's just the favor the shooter code and an extremely high ping player.

I told you its simply not fun to fight her, even when I kill her. Its very slow compared to other characters including tanks because she has ways to stall her death and has a very forgiving movset for her combat mistakes. I like that McCree can quickly erase her though and laser through the BS. To me she's not a healthy FPS character.
Give everyone shields. There's no limit to how many you can give out, so just make sure everyone has them at all times. The shields go away when they die, but otherwise they stay on and regenerate. Use the turret things (you can place them on walls) to slow down and warn you about flankers. They're pretty useless if you try to use them like Torb's turret, but they can be really useful if you know the maps and use them cleverly, I think they give you a notification if they get destroyed, so it's a way to know that someone's coming up behind your team. You can place 6 total, but you can only place 3 at a time and then you have to wait to get more to put down. Remember to put down the teleporter, near as you can to the front lines but not somewhere where it will be destroyed.
Your primary fire has "accelerating" damage, so the longer it's on a person the more damage it'll do, really useful for taking out flankers like Tracer and Reaper, but it's very short range. Your secondary fire charges up the more you hold it. It's pretty slow but it does a lot of damage, can hit multiple people and it ignores Reinhardt's shield.
