I literally dropped out of a QP game to hunt down something that doesn't exist. :(

on the flip side, seeing Soldier 76's video referred to as the "Sombra origin short" is kinda hilarious. (at least i think that's what happened? otherwise idk)

i am on Team That's Not Sombra.

Question for Widowmaker players, out of curiosity:

How many kills you have per match with her? I am usually around 18-22. Is this bad? I think that once i had 24 but i literally started using her one week ago, and i think that i am becoming much better with every hero now because of Widowmaker.

That's far better than most Widow's honestly.

The one thing I've learned playing Tracer for dozens of hours is to not think into mouse movement all too much outside of blinking. You're going to want to focus mostly on strafing to align shots. She unloads a lot of damage but her ammo runs out really fast so its not worth wasting potential damage on twitching around. She's probably easier to play on consoles because of that.

It would be a terrible origin story since it doesn't show anything about how she went from idolizing the heroes to working for talon.

So what do we actually think will come at the end of the countdown? I'm thinking it's the reveal trailer where we see her and her abilities, just like Ana's.

At this point I think that Blizzard might have realized that they've painted themselves into a corner with the ARG. It's been fun, but how can there be an endgame? It can't be 'solve this and we'll reveal Sombra' or anything along those lines. The best they can do at this point is give us another hint at the end of the countdown and it leads to a video like the Ana injury one except this is the reveal trailer.

I'd be okay with that. Fingers still crossed that S2 starts after we've had a week or so of Sombra in the main game.

Has anyone considered that the DDOS could actually tie into the whole Sombra deal?
As in, it would be her doing?

I guess it might be a little far fetched.

tried out Winston for the first time last night. his basic playstyle of jump in, drop bubble, cause havoc, jump out was really straightforward and effective.

for the life of me, though, i can't handle his ult. i have no idea what is happening at that point or what to do. i just bounced around clicking left mouse and hoping for the best, but the worst happened.

well she's a teen now and Talon's goals appear to be based primarily around being edgelords so it could work!

ten games in eichenwadel and have yet to see attack win.

this might be a problem...

Out in the wasteland that is solo que QP, most of the hybrid assault and 2 CP maps are this way. Yeah, sometimes the attackers bring it together or the defense team is just terrible but in my experience the defenders still win those types of maps more often than the attackers.

I saw one attack win last night on the new map and it was a team running a Comp level configuration (2/2/2) with coordinated ults for pushes. Those teams that did not do this but just sort of ran around and did their own thing rarely even cap'd the first point.

I prefer Overwatch as it is now that it's quickplay only. You see a lot of more funny stuff. Ranked was awful with a lot of jug voiced tweenagers crying about people's picks and wanting to do that awful 2-2-2 setup. Yeah having two supports might be ok if your slam pick McCree player was a top 2 percenter instead of XxxGoku-420xxX. Trying to do double support and double tank for most Overwatch players is like having a defensive trilane in a 2k mmr Dota game.

What's that sound squawking in from the voice channel? "Can you switch to a support or tank?" Well sure thing, buddy. I'm gonna support as Hanzo Daddy by carrying your potato rear end to victory and tanking all your badness. Godbless.

Well, I hear you, but I don't agree with you. But hey, I'm glad you are enjoying QP!

Also, this Sombra stuff is pretty cool. I guess we'll find out something just after 2pm EST.

His rocket jump is crucial. Once you get the hang of aiming it his ult becomes a lot more manageable. When I use the ult I usually try to just get their team as disarrayed as possible. And also some environmental kills if I can!

that's basically it, he just hits people away causing chaos. if you keep focusing on someone, you can kill them. it's great for KOTH maps.

Oh yeah, I learned this as a general rule after 90 hours of play: less mouse movement. Doesn't help I started as Pharah who actually needs a lot so I got into the habit.

Also, this weeks brawl taught me 76. What a fucking beast in terms of damage output. Also seems my aim is pretty good, I have gotten gold damage in a majority of my matches. All the practice and fiddling with low sense paid off. Yessss :-D

MoonMoon has started playing Tracer on stream and watching him play has shown me a lot about Tracer.

You're right in the sense that he just barely moves the mouse to aim and rather lines his shots up CS style, using the movement keys to align bodyshots, etc.

Knowing how to manage your blinks and rewind in a fight is the biggest thing. He hasn't figured out how to line up ults yet but he was still destroying teams just from knowing Tracer's Playstyle.

Also high level Tracer vs. Tracer is like watching the fights in The Matrix. So good.

Also I'm on team THAT AIN'T SOMBRA.

Learning that Winston does 50dmg for landing near an enemy for his rocket jump helps a lot. while raging his cooldown drops to like 3 seconds or something, so make sure you keep jumping.

Mainly though, his Ult is to break up momentum of the other team. The idea is to create chaos while the rest of your team is picking things off. Unless you have a ledge and can knock someone to death, don't expect to get any kills from it.

76 was really good till they nerfed his bloom reset.

thanks. going to set up a custom game to try to get better control during his ult. i liked his playstyle. and now i don't feel so bad about not getting kills with ult, heh.

Don't just drop his shield -anywhere-. I mean, you can, but it is far more efficient to know how the shield works. It blocks enemy damage and prevents it from going in or out, but friendly damage can travel through. So if you want to attack a bunch of enemies on the edge of an area, it makes more sense to jump a little in front of them, drop the shield, and shoot without advancing. But, you can also jump into a group of enemies, drop the shield, and immediate withdraw so they're in the shield. Those familiar with exactly how it works would run out before wasting ammo, but just like with Zarya's shields, it can always bait people who aren't thinking too much into wasting ammo as they take damage.

thanks. i was doing the latter, dropping the bubble on the point and moving back to fire into it. this was kind of a desperation pick since the team had picked all offense/defense with no healer (and i felt like playing mercy/lucio was going to be a disaster with that comp) and my first attempt with Rein was pointless since the team went in 5 separate directions.

Who's to say they won't reveal another hero at Blizzcon?

Ana was released in July. Sombra, if the clues are of any indication, will be in September. Then another hero can get a reveal in November.

One new hero every two months. Would make sense.

Blizzcon is Nov. The Overwatch First Strike graphic novel (digital version) is Nov. The cover of the graphic novel has artwork of a character we have never seen before, probably Liao. So yeah, I think Sombra is coming sooner, and Liao is coming later. Hopefully by Jan we can have Doomfist. :p

Winston's shield also prevents healing and sound barrier from escaping the bubble so make sure you bubble a Lucio as he breaks it down.

What I do with his ult is actually push off key players like the tank or an exceptionally good player on the team. I'll push them back to give my team a chance to pick off weaker players. This is after I've jumped in and have become weak from picking off other weak characters.

Got bored, wrote some opinions about the support stuff we talked about earlier. Give it a read and hit me up if you feel like it.

Some good thoughts in here Anne and I agree with you. I would love to see "support" abilities spread out among other characters and for Blizzard to let the lines be a little bit more blurred between character types.

My impossible dream is for there to be a TON more flexibility in making a viable team composition than there is right now because there is just that much variety in ability between the characters.

Make more characters that can heal and (that are not support characters) or provide needed utility and all of a sudden workable team composition opens up a bunch. This is where I would like to see Overwatch go.

Another thought,

Unless I'm remembering things wrong, the dev team said that they didn't think releasing Ana in the middle of a competitive season was a good idea.

By those terms it makes sense that we're already getting Sombra now, we'll probably see her before September 6 which is when the next season starts, because otherwise we'd have to go a lot of months before we get the chance at another character. Then as Duckroll previously mentioned we'll probably see a third hero revealed for Blizzcon, though that will probably land late November/early December.

A new character inbetween seasons is probably somewhat safe to estimate.

iirc, the splash on the PTR says Season 2 ends Nov 16. so 11/16-12/7 (but god i hope it's a shorter break) for a new hero seems reasonable. blizzcon is Nov 4-5, so announcement then, rollout right after Season 2 ends?

I guess it might be a little far fetched.

No sane business would frivolously spend money on labour to deliberately impact the stability of their systems, take down their revenue generating products, and negatively affect their clients' experience for an ARG for one of their products.

Guardian Angel behavior on PTR:

Should you press shift without anyone to fly to, the command is saved, and when you do mouse over someone, it will immediately fly to them as soon as possible, without any additional shift presses.
This does make it easier to make escapes, but also makes it easier to get out of position completely unintentionally. This can be counteracted by pressing shift midair however.

It has become SUBSTANTIALLY less fun to play this game now all the hardcore MLG noscope pros have been forced into Quick Play. Legit pro Genjis EVERYWHERE wrecking shit up.

Hopefully the wait between Season 2 and 3 is only like a week or less next time.

I got spoiled with the way they did StarCraft II seasons.

I really want to get good at genji, very good defensively with him and staying alive but can only do tactifcal grunt work and not making significant kills and blood baths.

On Eichenwalde I was having fun with him. Was able to get off some dragon blades I think at least 3 that match and get two kills with them each. I dont do anything super wild with him so the triple jump didnt bother me too much. At the top of that bridge before the castle I got into a battle with a junkrat, dude said "**** THIS!" and literally jumped off of the bridge to engage the rest of my team. My friend was spectating and cracking up.
