i just don't see how it would make people less toxic.
yeah, it might make people less likely to pick on good players, but if someone doesn't appear to be doing much then they're going to get even more shit than usual.
like if someone is really effectively controlling space to the point where no-one is even stepping in front of them they're not going to have a lot of damage or elims once they've established that dominance.
additionally there are a lot of times when dying makes sense, like trades on a really important character (mercy w/ res) or just to stall a point for x reason. showing deaths just gives another avenue for people to go on the attack.
idk, i think it's a weird idea. with the current system people can only use their perception and the limited info from medals to flame others, and it's already bad enough.

It is though. People jump on certain heroes as 'the issue' even when they're carrying. And there's no way to display that in game for the whole team to see

What goes on the scoreboard? Reinhardt having more kills than Soldier because the enemy has been diving him in particular? Ana having less healing than the Lucio because the enemy Pharah has forced them to go offensive? Tracer having Bronze elims but consistently distracting and separating the enemy team?
I don't think the scoreboard would help at all. We talk about DPS, Healers, and Tanks, but there are way more roles than that especially as the player skill increases.
The rarest thing in the skillset of Overwatch players is the ability to critically and objectively analyze their own and their teams play. It might be one of the most difficult things for humans to do in general. A scoreboard isn't going to help anything.

Yea, it's great you still earn XP. That was one of the main turn offs for me in custom Halo.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on #PS4WatchGAF for coming out and making this an awesome success. 5 hours of super awesome fun!
We all had our fantastic moments in the games and it was soooooooo much better than regular old QP.
I'll plan on another one in a couple of weeks. Don't want to get fatigued like PC GAF

Same thing that goes on TF2's scoreboards. You generate points for things other than just kills, similar to how Reinhardt or Mei gets points for 'Blocking +50" etc

I called you, Ramirez, Ruler, and TWrecks dicks multiple times.
He had some good positions. Also our team wasn't losing a lot of health when I was pocketing him... its why I stayed with him. I bailed on him whenever our team needed healing.

And I don't think that a scoreboard would quantify these things in a way that would be any more helpful than the current system. There is only 1 statistic that matters at the end of the game. It is an ordinal variable with 3 values: Victory, Defeat and Draw. The medal system is one of the most absolutely awful metrics for measuring your performance. Relevant stats would be things like Solo Kills, Damage dealt that was healed by an opponent and didn't lead to a kill, damage tanked (and then healed), what % of that damage gave the enemy no ult charge, and etc. I would literally rather not have any access to stats in competitive play than have what we have now. They're worse than useless; they're counterproductive. Unless a scoreboard is going to be a massive statsheet with relevant variables, I can't see it helping either.
Now optional TF2-esque statsheets in Custom Games? Those would be amazing for coaches and analyst. But that isn't what we're talking about.

If people are dicks without any hard evidence, what makes you think they'll be less of a dick with it? Whether you are justified in being a dick or not, you are still being a dick. Blizzard is against players in their games being dicks.
Blizzard has been very up-front about wanting everybody to feel good about their game, as much as possible, at least. Give dicks hard (heh) data to go after people with, and the Junkrats clutching their Damage Golds to their chests get harassed. It's just not going to ever happen on the scale you want.
At least in QP. I could see it coming to Comp, in limited form, and I personally would be willing to give that a go.

Yep.
I think how the game implies "more elims=better" is a huge mistake.
For example, on control point maps, if I only get 8 elims, but they're crucial picks and we roll the enemy as a result, that's a way better round than one where I get 30+ eliminations and only cap by the skin of my teeth in overtime.

My one good play of the night. Went Dva just to stop Ramirez from getting high ground behind us and wiping the whole team every couple minutes. Ended up working, and we barely beat the evil empire.
