Nope... even more when PS4 have more retail and digital games.
OP. PS4 OS because it is faster and get me in game in less than 20 seconds.
I don't if counts in OS part too but install and loads are way faster on PS4 too.

The XB1's interface has improved steadily since launch, to the point that it's approaching the 360's ease of use. Obviously it outperforms it with Kinect, it's resume features snap etc - and I think it's now more 'mature' and next gen compared to the PS4's interface.
Don't get me wrong, I still love the overall speediness of the PS4's UI - It just hasn't changed much since launch, and navigating it can get a bit confusing sometimes.

You can use the headphone mic on ps4 to yell commands as well. It pretty good.
Lot of folks are having a problem coming to grips with that, but it was pretty much the reason I decided to pick up an XB1. That "alive" description is spot on especially if you are running TV through it because you are always interacting with. I can be watching TV and decided to jump to Netflix, YouTube, or a game and its seamless. Launching the PS4 "specifically" to run entertainment apps is a disconnected experience in comparison, but its an awesome game machine in the traditional since.

Yep. After I found this out, I was like...this kills a lot of an excuse to have a Kinect. Especially since I have yet to find a game that makes use out of the camera part of it. Hopefully they'll change that, soon enough.

I think advertising relevant content, the kind of thing embodied by the Infamous ad in the second pic is the kind of thing that doesn't bother me. Things like the Taco Bell ad next to it are pretty annoying though, I can see why people think they're unacceptable. Disclaimer again: I don't have a PS4, I'm just going from a search on Google and what Caayn said here.

I'd like to elaborate on my previous post, as I feel I also was more UI concerned.
On Xbox One, after using several "apps," movement through screens, snapping or really anything involving multi-tasking, the OS moves to a crawl. If often results in a 5-8 second delay when moving back or pressing the Menu button to see options for the tile you're on.
To me, from a company like Microsoft, is 100% unacceptable. Also, I may be just getting old and cranky, but when I download something, I want it to be right there, front and center. I don't like having to into a "Games and App" area to find it. Especially with how long the installs and certain downloads can be, I often forget about them and switch to another input, come back and forgot why the system was on (I'm talking the 3-4 hour ones here, not 15-20 minutes, I'm not THAT old
).
I'm sure they'll optimize it, but for me, it's a hot mess and ugly to boot. It has some cool features and potential, but to me the PS4 is more stable and streamlined. It's a bit bloated, in regards to organization, but it's simple to navigate and smooth.

You have to specifically go into that feed to see any adverts, but yes, that area has them for all kinds of things, usually films to be honest.
Yet here you are on a video game forum. Where you and others are talking about computer software.. and you probably are talking about it being "fun" or "boring". Which are very vague and strange ways to talk about compute software, correct?

The worst slowdown I have noticed is clicking on the notifications and it has to load about 50 different notifications. That's still at most 3 seconds.

Yeah Xbox has the edge just feels more 'nextgen" when navigating.
The xbone ui is still slow and feels clunky. The xbone os is so slow. Startup time, install times, and not user friendly imo. I like the fact that they update it frequently compare to the ps4 but the ps4 os is already quick to boot and fast to get a game started. It just so easy to navigate. Ps4 os imo is just better.

I've been here since day one. For me, it gets bogged down bad and fast. Especially snapped programs, broadcasting to Twitch is terrible, it's so slow. I could just be used to my gaming PCs speed and the PS4, but to me it's awful.
There is nothing wrong with the utilitarian-spartan design of the PS4 UI, but I have more fun and feel more confortable around with my xbox one. It was lacking a lot of basic features at launch but nowadays its pretty solid IMHO.
I found myself using smartglass from my phone a lot of late, messaging with friends and stuff. Once you get used to instant game resume there is no way back.

I'm also a professional developer (aka programmer), What is so hard of understanding figure of speech and qualificative adjectives to describe software design!? You can have both technical specifications and figure of speech, making software is also a creative process is not like: I'm a programmer = I have zero imagination.
The way some IT people act like if they can't understand natural language whenever they find something they disagree with... quite annoying, better make some arguments.
Suee, tell yourself that. If anything it may be debatable but no way the Xbone is a clear winner here.
I don't play much on it since i bought it for my son but the couple of times i played Fifa on it was a chore going into my friends party, it takes too many layers to get to some of the menus and like someone else already mentioned it's just slow compared to the Ps4.
Also, waiting half an hour before being able to play a game for the first time is ridiculous and that alone puts it way below the Ps4 in my book, don't even get me started on Ryse for fucks sake.

I don't know that you know what that phrase means.
I have both, prefer Xbox. Jumping between apps feels more confortable in the xbone, it does a decent job with multi tasking, better than PS4 IMHO.
btw FIFA doesn't take half an hour... common, nor the PS4 is that muuuuch faster to load, it is faster in some games but I barely notice it. Hyperbole more.
Read what i wrote, i bought Forza 5 last week for my son and it took like 20 minutes to install or whatever it is it was doing, my son was so excited to play and had to wait to do it, in my experience that's not the case on Ps4, Ryse took like half a day before i could play it, i thought there was something wrong with the console. No hyperbole from me.
Jumping from my friends list to my party chat screen takes less than a second on my Ps4, feels like an eternity on Xbone, hyperbole applied but it does take too long.

My neighbour has an Xbox One, and damn the OS runs smoother and faster than what the PS4 UI lets me do and recently the PS4 UI has become very laggy while navigating, especially when I an application is running. Not sure if I am the only one who's facing it.
Are you tlaking about load time or install time? The install times on xbone feels like an eternity. Everyone knows this. Its much faster on the ps4. Its just quick to boot and play right away.
I was talking about load times, Install times from disc took like 20-40 mins for me. 80% of my purchases have been digital, no problem whatsoever with that. As for example Diablo 3 took 40 mins to download and I was playing it 10 mins in after it started to download.
I think many people are misled by the PS4 installation times!

The progress bar on PS4 dashboard doesn't show the full installation.
When the bar is full, the game is ready to start, but the game continues to install in the background.
Ofcourse this is common sense to must of us, but belive me, I have come across many people who think this show the entire installation process.
Difference is, the progress bar on the Xbox One on the other hand, show the entire installation process.
And I think this is what confuses a lot of people.
Watch Dogs (PS4) is a good game to show this on, because it show the actual installation progress in the main menu.
Installed Watch Dogs twice, second time it was a bit faster and landed just over 12 min.

I don't find it slow at all, and I love the combination of voicecommmands and controller to navigate.
To me my PS4 is the more boring one to use, while my Xbox One is way more fun.
At the end of the day I'm very pleased with both. =)

Ever turn your console off and then play the same game next time you then it on? You'd be using Suspend Resume right there.
I prefer the Xbox One OS. Early on it was a hot mess, laggy as all get out. Since the numerous updates I hardly ever notice any lag. Everything just works, and the layout and features makes it feel next gen. Suspend and resume is flat out awesome and snap is a great feature. Voice commands are nice also once you take the time too calibrate.
The PS4 OS isn't bad. It's just not groundbreaking either. It feels like a refreshed PS3 OS. It's very responsive though and for using just a controller can be easier to navigate. I use pins on my One, one click left and boom, my most used apps are there. That basically negates any speed advantage over the PS4.

Everyone knows the PS4 doesn't install the whole way at first, but the playgo system allows you to get into a game way faster when you first place the disk in over the Xbox One. Also the game installs faster fully on the PS4 than the Xbox One.
This is an old article but here it shows the difference. I think Xbox One had an update since then to make it quicker.

I think you missunderstood my post. I was not trying to tell anyone here that Xbox One install faster then PS4.
You are wrong my friend, don't get confused and think that people here on GAF represent the ordinary console owner around the world.
Im sure more or less everyone around here knows this, but not avarage joe.
I have had this conversation plenty of times with friends and working buddies, trust me, not everyone knows this,
many belive the game is fully installed when that first bar on the PS4 dashboard is done.
And if you read my post again, that was the point i was trying to make.

I've seen a lot of post saying how the PS4 installs a 50GB game under a minute. LOL
What will amaze you about suspend/resume is when you didn't expect it. Example: I was playing Trails Fusion and while in the middle of my run I tell the Xbox to "watch ESPN" so I could catch the little league baseball game. After the game was over I switched it Netflix so my daughter could watch A Turtles Tale before we all went to bed. The next afternoon when I went to play Trails Fusion it was paused right where I left it in the middle of a run. It may not seem like a big thing, but when you aren't expecting its pretty cool.
What does this actually mean?

Come on. So many people assume that when the bar fills on the PS4 dash, the whole 40 to 50GB install is done.
I can't be bothered to search for a single post now on my phone I'm sorry. But I have seen it many times.
Don't get me wrong. The PS4 installs are fast. Its just funny to me when people think 50GB of data can be installed in 30 seconds.

I love the PS4 OS for it's snappiness. Getting into a game is a breeze and the time from inserting the disk to playing a game is also pretty quick, Sony deserves a ton of credit for designing such an elegant solution. Doing other functions is where the things feel under cooked and are more fully realized on the Xbox One.
Quitting a game or app just so I can use another game or app is pretty annoying when I have to acknowledge/be reminded that each time I switch.
Discovering new video content is cumbersome since the PS4 does not have a universal search feature. Want to find the Winter Soldier? sure thing, if you're in the PSN store it pops up, is it on Vudu, or Amazon, or Netflix? I don't know. I have to enter each app/service to find out, and be reminded that I'm quitting and moving to a new app. Why can't my search bring back all of my viewing options like it does on the Xbox One?
When I'm in the PSN store looking at games, I get a trailer, and a couple screenshots, and DLC options. On Xbox One I get a trailer, screens, clips from other users, streams that are currently going on and I know how many friends own the game. In one pass I can, get a good look at the game play live, or just watch some short clip highlights, and I can also tell what the community is like among my friends. It just feels like a more connect experience.
