Blade 2 is a much better movie than Blade 1 though.

I'm not going to argue about the list, but let me just say I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Punisher: War Zone. I mean, I know it's not good, but it has this:

Eh I wouldn't say much while comparing one o the other. Both are awesome, but I like the more serious and darker tone of the first one, especially as Blade is less chattier than the second movie, making him more badass when he talks.

Spider-man continues to be the most over-rated. Also should be:

1.Deadpool
2.Deadpool
3.Deadpool
4.Deadpool
5.Deadpool
6.Deadpool
7.Deadpool
8.Deadpool
9.Deadpool
10.Blade 2

Thor 2 #32 and Avengers #2

Where is this gif from? I've always wanted to ask. Kinda feels like FF?

Why does this matter in regards to the quality of the film?

People at my BvS were cheering as well.

Heck, I went to the Friday the 13th (2007) midnight showing and people were cheering when someone got killed or tits were shown.

Right but do BvS and Friday the 13th have the critical success and box office numbers that Avengers got? I suspect not. Avengers succeeded on every level. Fan response, critics loved it, commercially. If you make something that succeeds in every department its probably a great film.

Top 10:

1. The Incredibles
2. The Avengers.
3. The Dark Knight.
4. Spiderman 2.
5. Captain America: The Winter Solider.
6. X2: X-Men United.
7. Captain America: Civil War.
8. Guardians of the Galaxy.
9. Iron Man.
10. X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The Avengers and Civil War are way too high and Unbreakable is way too low. Otherwise, solid list.

Also, really good to see Constantine getting some love. Really fun film.

The fact that Spider-Man 2, X-2, Dark Knight and The Incredibles are all in the top 10 makes me happy.

I don't get the love for Deadpool. Bored me so much. One of the most overrated comic book films ever. I guess it's great for teenage boys since that's the target audience but I didn't think it was funny and I don't remember anything about it, the action scenes were totally forgettable.

Avengers is ranked so high by so many because it's not shit. They made a servicable film with a cool one shot. It's inflated as beyond what it is merely due to the fact that it could have been horrendous.

JL will get the same praise if it's servicable.

I kind of agree with you on Deadpool, but it's a bad idea to chalk stuff up to "teenage boys" or pigeonhole an audience like that. I'd just acknowledge there's a group of people who love that movie. For me, it's one pretty good action scene, one mediocre action scene, and then a ton of jokes that land about 1/3rd of the time. For other people, it's the funniest movie of the year.

I liked the movie, more on rewatch than the first time, but the thing I like most about -- more than the action and the hit-or-miss jokes -- was, surprisingly, the relationship story. I was not expecting that at all, but Wade and Vanessa's romance was actually kind of compelling and sweet.

I could make the same statement about seeing The Dark Knight the Tuesday before it opened. It'll be why TDK is always #1 for me. Sometimes, seeing a movie in the right situation will always affect your point of view, which is good!

TDK midnight screening is one of my favorite theater going memories. From the crowd reaction to Joker's pencil trick to the ROAR that broke out as soon as the film ended...crazy cool experience.

The entire Smalllville segment in that movie is classic. Pure bliss.

It is, but the second half drags it down a lot for me. Everything to do with Lex is just terrible. And the ending is famously nonsense.

Well the target audience is clear. Every film, TV show, book that had any merit has one specific audience it aims for and if others go along, that's great. I'm not downplaying if you enjoyed the film, just that it didn't click with me at all. It seemed obvious that some people like that kind of humor but most of the jokes felt adolescent to me and the action...I can remember a couple of set pieces and some bits but nothing really interesting.

The Shadow really bummed me out as a kid. I wanted to like that movie. I love everything about how it looks even now. But man, was it boring. So, so boring.

Two hours of old radio plays with Alec Baldwin reading for the Shadow would have been way better.

Perhaps they simply enjoyed a film pointing out how stupid and formulaic a lot of these films are, while at the same time having some fun with it? I mean a month later we got two films about responsibility and heroes fighting no less.

Eh, for the most part I agree with the actual reasoning behind most of the entries, even if I'd quibble about actual ranking.

I still have a lot of love for The Phantom and The Shadow, though. If you tried to make those films now they'd probably lean too far into the humor or else misunderstand that pulp fiction is not simply "dark".

Also, having just seen it, I think Batman Returns wins for worst superhero movie I've ever seen (haven't seen a lot of the recent DC stuff, to be clear.) Batman and Robin might be terrible, but its camp and humor at least makes it groan-worthy watchable. Batman Returns is Tim Burton indulging his whims in the worst way possible. The villain motivations make no sense, Batman is barely in his own film, and Bruce Wayne acts like a complete idiot for the first half of the film.

I honestly don't get the love for The Incredibles. I saw it in theaters and can't remember a thing about it, other than the Daughter's powers. I can't even tell you what the other family can do.

Spiderman 2 is too low, and I'm surprised Guardians cracked the top 10, but happy about it. Best light-hearted superhero movie ever, in my opinion. It gave me the feel of an 80s/90s movie.

I don't get the buzz re: Ratouitoo either, but people sure did have a hard on for Bird before Tomorrowland.

Loved X-Men: DOFP but no way is that top ten.

My problem with the Incredibles is that the core message is ultimately stupid: "If everyone is special, then no one is!" No, idiots, if everyone is special, they'll all be special in their own way. That sounds awesome.

I can't hate totally on a movie that casts Sarah Vowell as the voice of a sulky, insecure teenage girl, though. Inspired.

This reminds me, when we doin the update to the GAF results from a couple years ago?

And yeah, the definition of "superhero" being used for this particular article is pret-ty loose.

The Shadow is top 10 material, easily; this list is a total wash. John Lone as Shiwan Khan is amazing.

Edit: What the fuck is this heresy:
The Shadow really bummed me out as a kid. I wanted to like that movie. I love everything about how it looks even now. But man, was it boring. So, so boring.

You can't make a list of the 100 best super hero movies without a solid 80 of them being crap.

The article mentions that, though they put the "dreck" at anything under 40. Opinions vary, of course. Also interesting the criteria they set for including or not including movies. I would have thought the Kick-Ass movies applied, but they don't.

Superhero movies are, in some sense, a form of overpowered vigilantism. In fact, the central conflict of Captain America: Civil War is around whether the Avengers should remain a type of vigilante group, meting out worldly justice as they see fit, without regard for a nation's own laws, or whether they should fall under a set of rules that the world can allow them to legally operate under.

1. The Incredibles
2. The Avengers.
3. The Dark Knight.
4. Spiderman 2.
5. Captain America: The Winter Solider.
6. X2: X-Men United.
7. Captain America: Civil War.
8. Guardians of the Galaxy.
9. Iron Man.
10. X-Men: Days of Future Past

Days of Future Past over First Class? What is this bullshit. FC is the only X-Men movie that's worth anything at all.

At least there's no DCEU garbage in the top 10.

The Incredibles is probably the only movie I'd accept over Spider-man 2 as number 1. I prefer Blade and Blade 2, Scott Pilgrim, Mask of the Phantasm and maybe even Batman 89 and Returns over the rest of that top 10.

Captain America with 2 entries in the top 10. I didn't used to be a fan of Captain America, but after the First Avenger, I grew to love him. After Winter Soldier, he became my favorite. They did a fantastic job portraying the character.

It's a solid top 10 aside from Days of Future Past. Wasn't a fan of it and preferred First Class, but I also wouldn't put First Class in the top 10. Maybe Batman Begins or Dr. Strange.

Spiderman 2 is king.

Captain America: Civil War is hideously over-rated.

Unbreakable is hideously under-rated.

Iron Man would be a great film if its third act didn't massively let it down.

Dark Knight should be #1 and Mask of the Phantasm at #40 is a travesty(never been a better animated superhero movie made since).

Has there really been over a 100 superhero movies? I see some from these posts that aren't even superhero movies. I assume a lot of straight to DVD shit is on here.

First Class is rated too highly tbh. Outside of a few good Magneto scenes, the rest was forgetable.

This list is immediately invalidated by placing Punisher: Warzone at 90.

All super hrro films are inherently stupid. Warzone is a hilarious, tongue-in-cheek nod to 80s action films. It deserves to be much higher for being far more enjoyable than most movies on this list.

WAH HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE

Batman 1966 at 85!? League of Extroardinay Gentlemen rates higher?? Fuck these people, this is fucking bullshit. I'm blown away by all these garbage films they ranked higher than Batman. I'd rather gouge my eyes out before watching this shit.

They put that other Punisher movie at 69???

Paste has no taste.

First Class is rated too highly tbh. Outside of a few good Magneto scenes, the rest was forgetable.

It's the best X-Men movie so *shrug*

I thought it was pretty fucking awful, myself.

It's still odd for me to see two Captain America movies be so held in high regard, not just in lists like these but just in general. Ask me 5 years ago the odds of a Cap movie being spoken of in the same regard as say, The Dark Knight or Spider-man 2 and I would've laughed.

WHAT. You can't just put "The Matrix Trilogy" at 35. They aren't one fucking movie. The sequels bring down the original considerably.

This list is clickbait

This list should be the top 15. I'm not putting them in any order, I don't care about the order and I don't care where you put anything else, as long as it's below these 15:

Batman (1966)
Dredd
Punisher WarZone
The Incredibles
The Matrix (not the sequels)
Captain America TWS
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
Orgazmo
Batman (1989)
Avengers
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Iron Man
Batman Mask of the Phantasm
X-Men 2

Fuck the X-Men movies, generally speaking (X-3 and everything after is pure trash). Fuck the Marvel movies, generally speaking (yeah, Gaurdians of the Galaxy isn't top 15 material. Both Iron Man sequels are Thor-quality), fuck Spider-Man (they're all bad. ALL of them). Fuck DC if it isn't the Batman movies above.

Sorry, Scott Pilgrim fans. It falls apart pretty badly about halfway in. Deadpool isn't funny. It's really not.

I honestly can't even remember The Crow, Blade or Darkman, i haven't seen those movies in forever.

Geez that list is strange. The only X-men movie that belongs in the top 25 is X2. I can't understand why people give First Class and DoFP so much love. Such poorly written messes.
