I liked Patrick at GB but lately it seemed to me that he had too much presence on the podcast, he even sounded a bit bossy. Obviously there was something going on.
If you knew Klepek from before Giant Bomb (I first heard of him from MTV Multiplayer blog, then G4), journalism has been his career since forever. It kind of sucks to him transition from personality based content to more standard, more anonymous journalism, but I guess that's the career he wants. Best of luck.
Pretty disappointing. I've been a fan of Patrick for a while, being a major horror fan as well, but I have zero interest in sites like Kotaku and what they do. He might as well be dropping off the face of the earth. Hopefully this will work out for him and be what he's looking for career-wise.
Jeff made a post that they're already looking at a news focused editor to join Vinny and Alex in New York. Wracking my brain thinking about who they might GET.
((Hey what if it's N'Gai Croal.???))
Definitely won't be N'Gai. He runs a company that does mock reviews.
Glad to see him end up somewhere so quickly. If you're still reading this thread Patrick, I look forward to reading your new articles on Kotaku and best of luck there.
I'm just gonna poke my head in here quickly and say hi.
First and foremost, squash the conspiracy theories. I wasn't pushed out, I'm on great terms with everyone, and CBS fought hard to keep me. I was simply looking for a new challenge.
This move is definitely an unexpected one for some, but I hope you'll keep an open mind. Kotaku's changed a lot in the last year or two, and some of their approaches to reporting (ditching previews, focusing on post-release coverage) sound really exciting. It's actually not too different from what's been happening at Giant Bomb for a while, either. I know people have lots of pre-conceived notions about Kotaku (or Gawker), and I'm not going to pretend some of that wasn't earned from past work.
If you're interested in my video content, I'm going to keep streaming horror games on my personal channels. I don't have details on that yet, but stay tuned. I'm also hoping to stream a playthrough of Demon's Souls this month, since I finally want to play it.
I can't be sure, but I also think my future Kotaku posts will exclusively show up here -- http://patrickklepek.kinja.com. That might be a solution for some of you? But I think there's lots of good work happening at Kotaku, though I don't disagree sometimes it can get lost in the news shuffle.
Hopefully some (most? all?) of you will join me in my post-Giant Bomb adventures, but if you don't, thanks for your support the last few years. It's been tremendously humbling, and I'm thankful for all of it. Have a good weekend!
Followed.

Super stoked I'm never going to have read his horrible writing (his GOTY list used "tremendous" 4 times - are you fucking kidding me??) or his hypocritical pseudointelligence ever again for the rest of my life!

Why when someone posts they are happy he is leaving people jump all over the poster? Opinions people

After seeing his post kind of asking to give kotaku a chance I hit the site up.
No dude. Just no.
I'll stick to giant bomb. Sure you had your reasons for leaving as it is a job after all but guess we part ways.
I can't wait until he misconstrues a vidya game to support whatever sjw agenda is popular.
Im playing this cool game where I google the username of everyone posting something like that here along with "gamergate" " Anita" or " Zoe Quinn". The results are funny.
Sounds like a witch hunt to me... Very Orwelian. Not sure I like it.Im playing this cool game where I google the username of everyone posting something like that here along with "gamergate" " Anita" or " Zoe Quinn". The results are funny.
I think Gamergate is sick and disgusting, barely even know who Zoe Quinn is aside from a few appearances on Giant Bomb and she seems like a cool person, and disagree with Anita's criticisms but approve of her overall message and the basic fundaments of what she's trying to achieve.
Maybe you need to be less logically bankrupt before you pretend to be some kind of moral authority here? My problem with Patrick is hardly to do with his political opinions - and more to do with the fact that he's a bad writer, an asshole, and pretends to have some sort of high ground but contradicts himself at every turn. I mean, as if to go out of his way to be an obnoxious piece of shit, on this very forum he has a terrible molestation joke underneath his avatar and none of his "fans" bat an eye? Yeah sure he has a right to be an asshole - but I'm only doing what he asks when he wants to be held at a high standard. I'm holding him to that standard, and he's failed at every opportunity to get anywhere near there - even if he does occasionally say things that I agree with.
...You do realize the Tim Burton joke was not written by him? That was assigned to him by a mod/admin, same as many of the joke tags below someone's username. It feels like you're going out of your way to be a complete asshole.
And that makes it better how? If a mod did that to me I wouldn't post on here or make a new account.
