Patrick Klepek leaves Giant Bomb

Man, I just was listening to day 2 of GOTY podcasts thinking how good it was to hear Patrick Klepek with the whole group. He is so thoughtful with his comments. I know earlier on I didn't like him but I was wrong and that changed.

Bummer :(

I've only just stated the podcast so I'm entirely sure what his plans are, but good luck regardless to him in future endeavours. He did a great job at Giantbomb.

I liked Patrick :( He brought an outside perspective which was sorely needed in giant bomb, he always tried to play outside the mainstream games. I wish him well.

To be honest Patrick's coverage is the only output I didn't really connsume off of GiantBomb. Quick Look Solos didn't interest me, watching a single person play horror games wasn't my cup of tea either. I also didn't read that many articles on the site. But still, he's an interesting guy to listen to and I'm going to miss him.

It's already felt like he was gone since he left the regular bombcasts, but this is a bummer all the same. A lot of people didn't like his presence for some reason, but I always thought he was good on the 'cast and even when I didn't agree with him, he provoked interesting discussions with the rest of the crew. Good luck to him though! Hope his next career step is fulfilling.

I can't say I've followed much of his work since he moved to Chicago, but I like him and he helped broaden the coverage at Giant Bomb.

I'm sure he's got some new awesome job lined up, so congratulations to him.

The fuck? I saw someone say this but I thought it was another dumb joke like Brad leaving.

I guess I can't be too surprised. He is stuck alone in Chicago without anyone else to have a back and forth with in Quick Looks, Giant Bomb's main content. Must get lonely.

Good luck on your next endeavor, Patrick.

It's disappointing to hear, I like Patrick a lot and he had a unique voice on Giant Bomb but I guess I'm not completely surprised. Whenever he talked about his future, it seemed apparent that he didn't see Giant Bomb as a long term situation.

Yes same. When he left the office I pretty much stopped listening to him, as I wasn't interested in any of the solo stuff. The few articles I have read by him have been great, but aint nobody got time to read stuff. Good luck to him.

Same. While not all the time I agreed with this tastes the variety he added to giant bomb was refreshing.

Based on everything that went on with GG this year can you blame him for just being 'done' with video games journalism?

First I ever heard of the Zoe Quinn controversy was a YouTube video I watched where some jackass implied that Patrick had slept with Quinn as well, you know, because they were friends.

Must be hard to deal with shit like that, I can't even imagine.

I really liked Patrick when he was in SF. He was a good mix for quick looks and interesting in live shows with everyone else. After he moved nearly all of his content was just him by himself and it was super boring. I just stopped watching Patrick content cause it was really boring.

Maybe I wasn't the only one.

Second that. I also stopped listening to Bombcast that much because of his departure. They really should have implemented ISDN line or something of that effect to keep the crew for bombcast. It was hard enough not hearing Ryan's voice...then add to that Vinny and Patrick the BC became kinda dull.

After the way he treated his new co-worker earlier this year I am so thankful they're getting rid of him.
Dan didn't deserve that and the whole crew will be better off without him.

Bye.

figured this would be happening for a long while, and kinda seems like the logical move considering he's not in the west or east coast offices.

I wish him all the best and hope we will hear from him soon. I hope he will start to fuck up the giant bomb pax panels with all the site friends in 2015

Bummer. When he was in San Francisco, he seemed like the one most likely to try smaller indie games and do a quick look of them. I was hoping they'd get another person in Chicago so Patrick and whatever other person could resume those sorts of quick looks.

Oh well. Best of luck, Patrick.

Damn he's the only one I really liked, Bombin' the AM will be missed by me .... damn what am I gonna iron my shirts to now :(

Aw man, this really sucks. I really liked that he was willing to try out a ton of games outside his comfort zone (something the other guys do a lot less of these days) and his reporting was stellar. I'm sure he'll land on his feet, as he has so many other times; as for Giant Bomb, I hope they can figure out a way to patch up the hole left by his departure, but it definitely won't be the same.
