I like to listen to that.
That's fine, not ragging on anyone that does, but there's a separate podcast for that. Giant bombcast is a gaming podcast.

Ya, I've slowly taken the Bombcast out of my weekly listening schedule because they will literally talk about wrestling for anywhere from the first 20-50 minutes. Either that or I just forward through those bits, but still, it's quite appalling that they think people actually want to listen to that, especially when they already have a separate wrestling podcast.

What? When did that happen? That's fine, not ragging on anyone that does, but there's a separate podcast for that. Giant bombcast is a gaming podcast.
GB died when Ryan died. All of them geographically splitting up after was the nail in the coffin. I will love these guys forever, but the magic will never be there again. Patrick is smart getting off now before it sinks more.

I didn't listen to GB before Ryan died. So, you out, me in, equilibrium is achieved.
Lol since when?
Maybe technically. But lets be real here.
What? When did that happen?
Dan defending Ground Zeroes as being well written and above criticism is enough for me to know he's a crappy person with nothing to say that I want to hear. He needs to grow up beyond adolescence at some point.
Thinking GZ had a good story makes you a crappy person? What?
It baffles me that Giantbomb, a site that revels in its lighthearted foolishness, always brings out such bitterness and internet-outrage on GAF. This thread isn't even about Patrick leaving anymore. All everyone wants is drama all the time. It'll get even worse if they don't hire a minority for the east crew.
I liked really Patrick's content and his thoughts on games even if I think he was a little self righteous at times, hope he stays in something we can share in daily/weekly (unlike Garnett Lee, Shane B, Nick Sutner, etc)

It's strange to hear all this stuff about Dan, it must be an act he puts on cuz I sure didn't notice that during Metal Gear Scanlon.
I don't do podcasts though.
This thread is like going to a going away party for a friend, but someone keeps walking around saying "Man, you're a dick too, you should leave instead of him".
No one does that in public.

These are public figures who entertain for a living. They aren't friends at a party.
Dan is someone who is willing to eat shit and get shat on if it's funny. He is in an environment where the people around him and listening to him can make fun of him in a friendly manner if there are enough people contesting him on his opinion he is willing to change is mind about things.
Dan sometimes likes to troll or push buttons, imo. He's similar to Jeff in that way. They're way more informed than they sound, imo.
I'm pretty sure he already stated in a Quick Look that he would not eat shit because he didn't think he'd be able to keep it down. He might be able to lick up three feet of snail trail though.
Neogaf entertains for a living...?

Probably on account of it's semi-neurotic people who react to trivial things on the internet out of all proportion.
The Giant Bomb guys.

So was this job like a hobby or was there some low level pay involved? Are people knocking down the door to get this position?
It's not an overreaction. The mortgage thing alone was enough for me.
I'd love for them to hire a woman but to be honest I won't care either way as long as the new person fits in.
Only started watching/listening to GB stuff after Ryan died. This isn't meant to be a slight to him at all (respect the dead and all that), but I don't really get why he's so exalted. Now Vinny on the other hand.. him leaving the Bombcast sucks.

i'd love for them to hire a woman but i'd hate to see how the gb community would treat her
Maybe it's time for some introspection dude.

A substantial number of people in the GB community have made the community a scary place time and time again. It's always shocking to me given the attitudes of the people running the site. I really wonder how that happens.
I like Patrick, but when I go to Giant Bomb, I'm not clicking on his articles. Not because I think he's a bad writer or unreasonable. I found myself agreeing with him a lot of the time I hear him talk. But when I go to Giant Bomb, what Patrick is doing isn't what I'm looking for. I'm not in the mood for those types of articles, I'm in the mood for something fun and entertaining. So you didn't like Patrick? That's pretty much why he was brought in.
Ryan's influence on people is profound. Patrick especially. I see a bit of Ryan in Patrick all the time. None of the staff would be what they are now without him.
You can't control who your fans are.
No doubt about that. I just wish the responses from the GB staff got through to those people. But I guess that's just the reality of the internet-disconnect in these communities.
It can't be any worse than the last 4 people they hired.
