It's not exactly two years but anyway.
I don't own them and I'll never buy them. PC is just way, way superior.
Mods, strategy games, better online (for the few multiplayers I bother with), interesting indies like FTL or Papers Please. Don't hate consoles, PC simply has more of what I want.
Yes, really. Is Resogun on PC? Heavy Rain? Same way Star Citizen isn't on PS4/XB1.
The main point is that 1 platform isn't enough, because you easily miss the best that might never come. Why wait and hope? I could beat GTA across 2 generations while waiting for a PC release. Instead, I played both D3 and GTA V, it's no brainer.
Conoles remind me of cars with an automatic transmission. Everything is pre-programmed, all you have to do is turn it on and go - great for people who don't care about tweaking for performance.
PCs on the other hand: A fucking fully customizable Le Mans road beast.
On the other hand. My road beast is getting to expensive to maintain, so I think, I'll give my manual trans a break, and get an Xbox/Escort or a PlayStation/Prius
You don't have to tweak the settings on pc.
You have the option to do it, but most of the times it takes only a few seconds changing the resolution and switching the settings to your strength of your pc.
Consoles have preset settings which are comparable with low/medium settings (and most often they use special settings to at least run the games which are not even presented on the pc version because they're so bad).
Also, why should a PC break suddenly? It's normally not happening if you're not the causing the trouble.
Of course you can break it in various ways but you can also break your console (if you act not carefully) too.
Just stop cooling your hardware with cola and download all the free games from freevirusfreegames.com.
That should help.

I feel like you missed my point completely. I didn't explain myself very clearly though so it's my bad, I apologize for that.Yes, really. Is Resogun on PC? Heavy Rain? Same way Star Citizen isn't on PS4/XB1.

That's quite a simplification of what PCs are. They're not just, or even primarily, gaming machines. They're general usage computing systems that are open by their very nature. You can do practically anything computing related with PCs.Haha
Only in hardware, and that's only if you buy the hardware. Some people's PC's don't even stand up to the new consoles.
Games wise it's subjective. I can't play the Forza games (especially Horizon) on PC so it doesn't matter how good my gaming rig is hardware wise. I actually have a GTX 980 coming in today, can't wait...but I still won't be able to play Horizon 2 on my rig.
This has nothing to do with HAVING TO TWEAK something, I don't have to do anything! It's about the options, which is my point - not that many tweakable options on consoles. Not much room for software mods either, but sometimes It's nice to get a game and not tweak on it for hours...I like it, but not all the time - ya feel me?
Once you accept that Wii U is a system exclusively to play Nintendo games on, it becomes a much easier sell, at least to me.It's pretty surprising to read so many Wii U and PC owners on gaf when a year ago it was nothing but hate for the console around here. Nintendo really turned it around.

It can be simple things such as playing a game on one screen and reading gaf on another and then every now and then writing a long post on gaf (with a keyboard, i.e. with speed and comfort that's not possible on a controller), or it can be something like downloading and installing a mod to a game, or it can be doing a mod to a game yourself. And of course, you can play games that you just can't play with a controller.
Or then it can be something completely not related to gaming, such as writing an essay for school, editing a picture or just basic browsing.
This is why PC is, overall, superior to a console. It's simply so much more than a console can ever be. But of course, this doesn't mean that a console doesn't have its own advantages, and it doesn't mean that for someone a console couldn't be the better choice.

One of the biggest weaknesses of the system is its anemic hardware, but Nintendo works with that to create games which still perform very well and look decent. And now with the Wii U finally even their IQ is at least bearable.
There are more highly rated games on PC than there is time to play them.
I dont need hand-holdy, on rails console cookie cutter experience #3,244 to enjoy gaming.
PC has me covered with the most expansive library on the planet, and the most comprehensive one too.
You won't catch em shedding a tear becaus eI haven't played Uncharted, lol.
Well, maybe I've shed a tear or two for Red DeadBut in the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal tha tI missed that title. I was too busy enjoying other stuff anyway.
Maybe if I was out fo a job or 12 years old, I'd have the time for all of these games plus console games... but then I wouldn't have the money to buy them in the first place!
I "get" you but you probably don't "get" me.
Hours in tweaking? I don't know what you're doing but normally you spend just a few seconds or minutes and then you're ready to go.
Of course if you want to mod the game that's something different but we're not discussing that (which is TOTALLY optional, some people still don't get it).
If people are not willing to do that and instead buying a locked up weak machine with a few games and many other restrictions that is their choice.
A lot of my friends are actually former mainly console gamers and are also Japanese games fan but they're not stupid and decided to build a pc as their main platform.
For something like Persona (for whatever bad reason they have to not port it on pc) and Bloodborne and a few other Sony exclusives they have a PS4, nothing more, nothing less.
Everything else is on their pc.
The Japanese devs FINALLY making a bigger push to put out more stuff on PC has been a major factor deflating my interest in consoles as well. I couldn't be more thankful for that--the less platforms I have to buy to play what I want, the better.
It's a gaming forum yes, but the person might well have meant PC as a whole, not just as a gaming device, since multitasking adds to the experience. This is a gaming forum though. I'm also pretty sure that those of us with gaming PCs, like myself and most in here, already know everything you typed.
Being able to work on 3D renders, write an essay, and go dual/triple-screen doesn't let me play Horizon 2.
Like I said, it's subjective when it comes to gaming and one's own preferences......which is sort of the point here.
It's pretty surprising to read so many Wii U and PC owners on gaf when a year ago it was nothing but hate for the console around here. Nintendo really turned it around.
Wait for january charts and see that nobody bought the wiiU this christmas. What you see here is noise produced by the vocal Nintendo minority on GAF.
It is like Bayonetta 2, the game is a flop despite all the noise and recommandations you can read here.
I still only have a PS3 and Vita (lost the charger, so I haven't touched it in months).
My college recently removed Ethernet, so the only devices we can hook up to the internet are laptops, cellphones and tablets. We haven't found a way to get any consoles online at our school and this was not an issue before this year. Getting a PS4 now probably isn't the best idea considering.
Edit: On the bright side, it's given us a new appreciation for Steam and mobile gaming.
Plus I'm primarly PCgamer because I enjoy PC-styled games the most. So consoles getting anything "best" is pretty much impossible from my perspective. At most they can get something good and good can wait.
Exactly I chuckle every time someone says "My ps4 has better graphics and I didn't spend a 1k dollars", like... dude, is not about the graphicz.. Is about PC ass PC games like Arma3 or SC2, those can only be designed for a PC, regardless of visuals.
I remember a lot of PC guys saying the same thing about owning a Wii and how gaming PC makes the other consoles redundant. It's pretty surprising to read so many Wii U and PC owners on gaf when a year ago it was nothing but hate for the console around here. Nintendo really turned it around.
Well, the thing is: I think your premise is wrong, so of course the same goes for your conclusion. Not just because what's "the best" is mostly subjective...
Why "Wait and hope"? Why to not buy just everything? Because I have better uses in mind for my money, that's why.
Well, maybe I've shed a tear or two for Red DeadBut in the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal tha tI missed that title.
What's with the arrogant PC posts in this thread?
Also, your logic kind of implies you buy every system out there. Do you have all the three current gen home consoles and a capable gaming PC? Do also have a 3DS and Vita? Do you have all the mobile systems (despite the popular image, they get plenty of good games too)?
So yes, you miss out on games either way. Doesn't matter if you buy all the systems out there. Everybody has to prioritize in some way what games they play.
Well, you're the one making a pretty broad claim ("One platform is not enough"). Not me.I believe yours is just as wrong, so we can agree to disagree.
True, interestingly enough that's rarely because of PC gamers and more often than not it's because a certain amount of console-centric people feel this urge to come into a thread that isn't even aimed to them just to challenge the idea that someone could be fine with a platform they don't like/know and not in love with their favorite brand of console. This is tamer than normal. The threads usually go to shit in the end.
I'm going to guess you will not accept the idea that not a single one of these titles is something that I keep particularly in consideration and few of them I even openly dislike (ME3, AC2, Borderlands 2).If I had to list out some of my favorite games from last generation:
Uncharted 2
God of War 3
Red Dead
Mass Effect 3
AC 2
Borderlands 2
