if the SH3 characters you guys keep posting are realtime...why is it so hard to believe this isn't? there's no need for individual strand modeling as marconelly/pimpwrex pointed out. frankly, i also thought as much at first look, static hair mesh and some modeled clumps. clumps of hair will flow according to some physics algorithms. so on and so forth. the polygon count of the face/hair/eyes etc should be achievable.
