PDZ Clips

The amount of geometry pushing in those scenes is insane.

Awesome texture work and lighting.
I also like the stuff happening in the background. You can see cars mov etc... Good job.

Is the A.I even switched on? The guards and stuff don't seem to move much.

The game's set on demo mode for a trade show. I'm sure it's on the easiest mode and when you crank up the difficulty, things will look much more impressive.

Yeah. I'm sure the harder settings will be very challenging.

The number one thing for me is that the game looks like a lot of fun. I'm gonna really enjoy putting Joanna thru her paces.

This does look much improved, but I am not sold on it yet. I'll hold further judgement till X05, but right now the few areas seems empty, and while the second video has a large visible area, the physical area you move in is really small.

Not only that, did you notice the Arrows on the ground showing you where to go? I hope that was exclusive to the rooftop sequence.

If you read the Edge preview, Rare said arrows are used on easy setting to help the player reach their objectives :)

the way the guys get shot remind me of how people get shot in time crisis. Exagerratingly thrown around.

Now THAT is ragdoll physics. Given the over-the-top style and the smooth framerate, I am going to love this game. An FPS that I want to play is quite the accomplishment.

Good job Rare. Now just get it out at launch. Also, video four at Jeus France shows the multiplayer (I think). If so, wall guy is nowhere to be found, and the graphics look close to the single player.

Dude, those physics are awful.
 
Phyisics look fine, as least they are not non-existent like the ghost recon and rainbow six games. I like seeing bodies react when the get hit with a volley of fire. They maybe over pronounced but this game looks great and looks to be a blast to play. I just want good multiplayer if single player is good as well then thats just icing on the cake.
 
looks good fun, and looks pretty nice too.

Excellent - another potentially good game to look forward to.
 
My main problem with the physics is just how slow the impact reactions are. If it were a bit quicker and jerkier it would be great. Still, I'm not really worried about it until I see the same thing in the final build.

I guess you havent seen ghost recon 2 its has great physics.
 
I think Rare will have some insane enviroments in the final game. I hope they do something about the ragdoll, Im a fan of over exaggerated physics but they need to look fun and they didn't in this build. Overall, WOW, looking great.

I think they should of made a bunch of preset reactions to getting shot in different ways like it was handled in RE4. Shooting fuckers made me so happy in that game. Shooting fuckers in this game makes me think the programmers are a bunch of dumb fuckin kids. But shit! Look at the juvenile character design and A.I.

Watch the security looking dudes on the second video run (or hover) up the stairs and run straight into Joanna's gun fire without a 2nd thought!

SO OVER THE TOP IT'S GREAT!!! lol
 
The point is RAGdoll physics. Are they over-the-top? Yes, of course they are. Stupid, but they obviously aren't going for realism. If they were, I'd want no part of this.

As for the textures looking better than MGS4, :lol

well.im not saying this game is a disgrace or anything,it looks A LOT BETTER than his first photos,the scenaries looks inmense and the detail on the wall is awesome,but ppl some of u are acting as if this is the second coming of jesus,the animation is stiff,the havok implementation is weak,and the fire fights or weapon effects look a bit tame to me if you compare the animation on ghost recon,the explosion effects u can see easily who looks better

and by the way the dude who said ghost recons have no Phyisics need to play the xbox games cause they have havok implemented ( and one of the best havoks implementations i have seen anywhere) and the gr3 video got some awesome physics on explosions and foes

Metal Gear Solid 4 is considered by most people on this forum to be the best looking game we've seen so far from next-gen titles. But its background textures aren't the main reason. From what I've seen, Hideo Kojima doesn't throw anything together. All of his work appears to be a product of insane dedication and attention to detail.

Well I didn't mean that they threw it together during a bathroom break, but it was put together to have something to show at the TGS. And no, the background textures in said trailer aren't anything to write home about, but most of the texture work was pretty damned amazing, considering everything that was happening onscreen.

It is the best looking game we've seen so far. And btw people should stop comparing PDZ with MGS4 because the comparison itself is fucking ridiculous. Thanks.
 
The game is looking stunning...and I quite like the over the top ragdoll stuff, if it can just be tweaked a little to giev the characters some weight.

However, am I the only one to be concerned that multiplayer will turn into a massive 'rollfest'? The rolling did seem quite jarring in that multiplayer clip...gotta love the ice cracking though :D

I think what I said was misunderstood, I was actually defending MGS4. I was merely stating that it's not really fair to compare an almost completed title to something that was made in a much shorter amount of time for a game show.

I don't really like the ragdoll physics either but everything else makes me happy. Wow, Rare really look like they could have two great games for launch. Who would have thunk it?
