hnnnnnnggg!

POI got hardcore fan podcasts!

Listening to the Relevance one right now, nothing inside here that we haven't discussed already but its interesting to have a different perspective.

I haven't heard anything new but there could be future spoilers here, beware!

I hate you for posting this. Imma have to listen to them all.

I just ruin people's days.

Very interesting podcast actually, the first section recaps the episode and gives their theories for future episodes (all speculation), second half gives real privacy/security stories that people might want to be aware of.

Subscribed.

This show has been growing on me since it originally premiered last season. This latest episode was so fucking good! First thing Jonathan Nolan has ever directed as far as I can tell, and he did a fantastic job.

What really impressed me was the episode barely featured the main characters, and as much as I've come to like them, I didn't really care, because these new characters and their story was just as interesting to me.

yep

Listening to the Bad Code podcast, and it just gave me the creeps, with what the future of The Machine might be.

Lets say the last season could be about trying to stop The Machine from ruling the world.

LOL, I just got halfway through that episode.

It's very scary because I think Nolan could actually pull it off. Would make for amazing television though.

Just keep an eye out for any companies called Cyberdyne.

Seriously, that's what the podcast guys were going on. The Skynet idea from Terminator 3 (it's not hardware, IT'S SOFTWARE!). That it might have originated from those servers, but when it can use almost any piece of connected tech in the world, doesn't it mean it's moved beyond those original servers?

Maybe too sci-fi, but it's spooky. Maybe all that's keeping it in line is Harold's and Nathan's original programming. Making it incredibly important to keep Root from doing anything to it (especially "set it free")

It'd be absolutely hilarious if Root actually managed to set it free and... it did nothing. The Machine kept giving the numbers to Finch and Reese because it wanted to. It has a purpose.

This podcast is freaking me out.

I am very interested to see how the Virus can affect the Machine's functions, how long can the encryption protect the core OS? Didn't Stanton say something about Chinese being far ahead of what the US had cyber-wise?

Well, I don't know if she said the Chinese were far ahead, just said "we're." Which I took to be whatever Greer's group is.

Was it just me or was Jim Caviezel really good this episode? He just seemed so much more badass.
"We don't pay you anything, Leon"

First time I saw him in the episode I got so excited. :)
Music at the end was awesome too.

*geeks out for no damn reason*

The best thing this show did was the break in the first season before the second half where they went back to add more humor to the show. That was actually a plus.

I wish photos of the POI and TDKR cast together existed. I can just imagine the cross over where Reese got trapped in Gotham City and just wound up shooting Bane in the knees crippling his entire plan from the outset.

went over to zapit.com to check out some ratings for POI, and oh boy, don't read the comments on the daily ratings pages. Grey's Anatomy edged out POI in the younger demo (but overall, POI's 14 million was great than Grey's 8 million). But the comments...put console war bickering to the curb...

Lots of GAF activity for this season, loving it! :)

There is one douche on there and Tv by the numbers that trolls every popular show. He is the most annoying for Person of Interest. normally calling it Person of Disinterest despite having like 6 million more viewers. said Grey's slayed POI though it only beat it by .1 in the demo and that was the first time in months that POI lost to Grey's.
Then tries to play the victim when he gets put in his place.
I used to like reading the comments about ratings, can't stand it anymore.

so how spoilery are those? I'd like to listen to PoI podcasts but I would be bothered by random spoilers about story twists or something

I have listed to three of them so far, haven't heard any spoilers, just speculation.

I placed the spoiler tag because it is possible they hear things they are trying to keep quiet on but nothing concrete so far.

I would suggest you listen to some of the S1 episodes if you want to get a feel for the format.

Wow this is like a top 3 episode for me. Reminds me of the Doctor Light episodes of Doctor Who, but much better. New chick is hot and badass.

So I'm rewatching season 1. I never noticed that on episode 4 where Reese helps out Fusco by taking those guys out in the apartment that the announcers on the soccer game that was playing on TV yelled goal the entire fight scene. Lol.

One of the greatest strengths of this show is how all the characters, both main and guest, are all likeable, or rather, not at all insufferable.

Basically where as a "popular" show like The Walking Dead has characters that drive you insane with their mind numbing stupidity (yo Andrea), all of POI's characters are quite endearing in their own unique ways.

Yeah, even the bad guys are really 'likeable' imo.

Holy fuck, just saw the new episode.

That was incredible. One of the best individual episodes of a program I have ever seen. To feature so few of the main characters and yet make the whole thing compelling, before those awesome last few minutes (great music as usual) brought everything together... fantastic. It is picking up real momentum now, if it can keep this up we are in for a great end to the season.

Plus, the show continues its wonderful track record of choosing genuinely attractive actors for all the female characters. It helps of course that they are all more than capable in the acting department also.

The decoding of the newest codes has made some progress:

The first code is an excerpt from Chapter 1 of "Heart of Darkness " by Joseph Conrad.

The second and fourth codes are excerpts from "The principles of surgery" by John Bell and Sir Charles Bell.

The third code is an excerpt from Voyich manuscript

example from principles of surgery:

In excessive fractures (says Dionis) we should not hesitate to make two, three, or four perforations, if required. A young girl, of eleven or twelve years of age, having, by a fall down stairs, fractured the whole of the parietal with a part of the temporal bone, Mr. Marechal trepaned her next day in two places: he made his son trepan her a third time; he allowed my son, who was present, to trepan her a fourth time : the next day, applied the trepan twice more, and in the end had actually perforated twelve times, and cured her completely. So precious an example shows how little reason we have to be surprised dt the frequent application of the trepan." Here is a doctrine laid down, which, I fear, there is little occasion to enforce ; and I cannot but persist in being surprised and shocked, at the frequent and large perforations which I have both read of and seen, and cannot but think of these veterans in surgery in no very amiable light, when I see them indulging their boys in the novelty of operating, probably on very slight compulsion. These reports, and especially the last clause of this paragraph, viz. " that we should not be surprised at the number of trepans," have plainly a reference to the ever memorable operation performed in the time of King William's wars, on hilip Count of Nassau, by Henry Chadborn, chirurgeon. Godifredus, chief surgeon to the Ckates of Holland, mentions with particular exultation this operation performed by his f

Since CBS is dumb and not putting Person of Interest full episodes on their site, is there anywhere that I can rewatch the episodes?

There are particular video sharing websites that host episodes, just need to do a little bit of Googling. If you're looking for season 1 though, I highly suggest the blu-ray version -- it's worth it!

blu ray also comes with a streamable version. I think Flixter provides it.

Just finished the One Percent episode of the podcast.

Am I the last person to notice that in all episodes so far (in S1 and S2), the machine doesn't go past 2016 in the history timeline?

This seems important to me for some reason...

It only went to 2012 in season 1, I guess its just the shows creators hope to last that long.

No, I mean just through navigation. It only went to 2012 because the episode actually took place in 2012.

To respect those who wish to stay in the dark, the image is in the spoiler quotes.

Every episode I've quickly scanned hasn't gone past that...

What I meant was that during season 1 the ticker didn't actually have 2013-2016 on it, those years were added either late in the first season or for the second season.

Like the guy above said I don't think they actually mean anything.

So I'm finally ready to join PoI Gaf, caught with the last episode today. And man this show has been fucking great so far. Especially when it comes to the supporting cast, seen so many awesome people from other shows passing by. Like Micky Doyle in the last episode :P

Oh and I really hope Shaw will join Reese and Finch, that would be awesome.

Oh and I had to gif this part, she's a total bad-ass :lol
