Well, I may actually finish this before the western release!

I'm about 10 hours in and absolutely love what I've played thus far. I didn't think they could top Persona 4, but I've been constantly impressed with the early parts of the game at least.

I'm counting three delays for this game already. Got a feeling there's like one more I'm missing.

FUCK 2016.

Three delays (including the original, four release dates)

Edit: Nope, I'm dumb, four delays, five release dates.

How does that matter?

Welcome to subs vs. dubs debates! Stepped in superiority.

Come on, actually pay attention to what people are talking about. The conversation was bout how in many countries, dubs are only used in children media and as such, a perception that only dumb kids need dubs and adults are smart enough to read subtitles is a cultural norm for them... That's why the clarification about Godzilla movies being released with dubs in US was important, because that person wasn't talking about US...

I don't agree with that perception, even if I am a sub person, but at least I pay enough attention to notice what they are talking about >_>

In the video message form the Atlus USA president, he mentioned they're going to be adding additional localisation work they didn't originally plan. I have a suspicion they might add voice overs to scenes that didn't originally have any in the JPN release.

I noticed that too. I can deal with it if that's one of the reasons.

Jappense audio? Meh. There’s always something that doesn’t get subtitles. Usually in-battle stuff. Pass.

Good news for those that care though.

Drives me crazy in Tokyo Mirage Sessions.

What are they saying during battle?!?! I don't know! I haven't mastered Japanese yet! Oh wait they said "Fiaa Emburem". That must mean Fire Emblem!

I'm positive there are reasons for this delay

The Atlus USA president literally stated that it was due to localization concerns/touching up aspects of the english script and/or localization..

Now, whether or not you think that's valid or not is up to you, but it's not due to the dual audio inclusion pushing things back, as far as we've been told.

Ok, I'll change to "there's no good reason". Two more months on top of all delays due to "localization issues"? Come on.

Something I did just realize that makes the annoyance a bit less, was there always a hardback art book in the Take Your Heart Edititon? I don't remember seeing that there before. I am a sucker for art books.

I'd still have bought it later as a stand-alone product tho.

I actually do speak Japanese (but I am far from fluent, especially in terms of reading or I would have imported the game), but as in my example I would prefer it even if I didn't. As someone who has traveled a lot I just know that people speak different languages and even though I don't understand a word, you at least get a feeling for what kind of language it is. I don't speak any Eastern European languages, but if someone speaks Russian or Polish, I know the vague area of where they are coming from and if a game is set in such a place it helps immensly with immersion. Definitely better than English since my brain just knows that it is "wrong".

See, I understand what you're saying. I get why it would be jarring.

But for me when I play any game, regardless of setting, I don't think of the characters speaking English so much as talking words. So I don't get that issue playing Persona cus my brain doesn't flag it up like ERROR: Japanese people speaking English?

You can see in the stream a lot of battle banter from Morgana at least has text boxes in the upper right.

No reason not to expect that with the JP audio selected as well.

1 1/2 months but JP voices in return. I think I can live with that. February is stacked already anyway. Still, the additional wait time will be excruciating.

Game got audible better due to the delay tho.

And that's fine. Different strokes for different people, but maybe you can now understand at least one of the dual audio weirdos in this thread ;)

We've been told ALOT of different things over the last couple years.

I could swap out 'delay' with 'dual audio', and as of about an hour ago, it would have been equally "dramatic" from the other point of view.

This is what, the 3rd? 4th? english delay? And at least the 2nd that was announced right at the start of a 'big update'-style showing of the game?

I'm not saying some people aren't being a bit hyperbolic, but let's not suddenly take a position of the 'high ground', here.

Fair enough, I can definitely see your point. My post probably came across more mean spirited than I intended.

I was not going to pick this up until after graduation, so I guess the game will only be out for a monthish rather then 4 months. This and Zelda better not come out at the same time...

Yeah I understand.

I'm just lashing out cus this delay is frustrating so it's annoying seeing people happy about it. I'm sorry.

I would have taken a delay in exchange for dual audio, so even though that's not the reason I will convince myself that it is.

The law of conservation of delays is real. For FF15 to exist, another game must take it's place.

one delay for FFXV - 4 delays for P5. I can't think of any game ever that got delays and release dates more than Persona 5.

Persona most likely caved due to all other releases.

This is some serious mess right here. I guess it gives room to other JPN releases and gets away from the glut of first 3 months of games. Still, it's just crazy, Winter 2014 indeed.

I will take the JP voices though as I'd rather have JP voices on April 4th (should have been 1st :p) vs February 14th but English dub only. Hopefully this will have JPN subtitles option as well.

I do find the situation amusing. Thankfully 10 other games during Q1 will help me cope.

On one hand, P5 was my most anticipated upcoming release so it being delayed sucks. On the other hand, that late January-mid February release period is motherfucking thunderdome and there's plenty of other shit for me to play. So I guess I'll have to be satisfied with GR2 and Berseria.

seriously.

This was my most hyped game. What quality reasons were they? What a bummer...I really hope this game gets a Pro path now.
