Persona 5 |OT2| Someone must have been helping you go to bed early. Talk!

The game drags in the middle, but no way at the end like some people are saying. (full spoilers)
Everything from the end of Palace 7 to the beautiful depths of mementos to the Velvet room reveal and anime finish is really well done compared to how much it fumbled with the Akechi+Shido stuff.

Fin! 81:35 hours, level 71. One of the best gaming experiences of these years, truly remarkable.

Damn, that true ending boss was long as fuck at my level

A retooled Persona 5 on Switch would be great.

If only because we might get Xander Mobus essentially announcing himself if Joker were to get into Smash.

Saw the Church Scene with Emperor rank 5. That thing was HILARIOUS! Does anyone have a gif of that scene? I've seen it here before but many pages ago.

Also thought
Morgana's
drama before Palace 5 was a bit over the top, makes me think he's
probably a child in human form
. Not surprised
Ryuji
snapped back at him, he's such a douchebag to him.

Yep, that was really funny! In hindsight I regret not spending more time with
Yusuke
.

I don't know, his S.Link just seemed so unappealing, and that's why I've ignored him for the most part (also because I didn't even use him that much in combat).. then rank 4-5 came and I laughed my ass off, but it was too late for me to max that particular link at that point in the game.

I think I'm gonna youtube the S.Links I've missed, as well as the bad endings, since there's no way I'm going to start NG+ anytime soon: I've started P5 right after finishing P4G for the first time, and I feel I've satisfied my thirst for long-ass jrpgs for quite a while (I think they both amount to 160+ hours combined over the course of basically one month).

(It has to be noted that one week ago I found a good deal on Digimon Cyber Sleuth and I obviously couldn't stop myself from buying it, but i DEFINITELY won't be starting that anytime soon either.)

All in all, I love this series, coming from a heavily Final Fantasy/Square-focused rpgs background this is a really nice breath of fresh air (debuff magic actually has some use in turn based games? WHO KNEW). Here's to hoping that P6 surpasses P5!

So I'm still working through Palace 7, I'm at
Side Deck 1
and the game is telling me if after the
IT specialist
. I think im about half way through?

The puzzles with the

aren't too bad.

I doubt we'll have to wait that much for a new version of P5, I expect it to release in Japan next year for PS3/PS4/Switch. Not sure how long it'd take to make it here though.

Also we're totally getting at least two spinoff announcements this June at the concert... Crossing my fingers for Persona Q 2, but I think at least the fighting game is very likely.

No that's almost near the end. That's the 4th target right?

In addition to this, you must
complete palace 7 for them to show up. I'll tell you the most efficient way of getting them:

It's necessary to have rank 9 with Hifumi and rank 3(?) with Shinya; Rank 9 to escape battles and rank 3 for the special gun move that instantly downs treasure demons.

Use a treasure map, then keep moving back and forth between floor 11 and 12 until a diamond appears. Once it appears, engage and if it's either one, do the special move. If it's not the ones you need, escape the battle. Attack any shadow on the floor and escape immediately. The treasure demons will be in the same spot that you found it. If there aren't any enemies, wait 2-3 minutes for the reaper to show up and engage. Back out of the battle and go to the diamond. Repeat this process until you got both.

Great tip. Gonna make use of this

I personally don't feel we will see an updated Persona 5 or any announcement of its existence for a very long time, I don't even think they have any intention of making one but I'm just assuming.

Did Persona 4 Arena and Ultra Max sell well?

has anyone tried safety mode? how is it? im thinking of switching to it because the dungeon crawling in this game is mind numbingly boring but i love the story so far

I think it sold well enough. Not sure if the whole region-locking thing screwed it up in the EU market.

I think it probably did.

I didn't play it because of that. Since I didn't play Arena I didn't bother playing Ultimax either...

It took an entire bloody year from the US release for Arena to come out in Europe. By that point it was too late. People had either forgotten/moved on, or alternatively it would have been difficult to get into the MP because everywhere else had at least a year to be better.

That all said, I imagine the sales in JP and US were enough for them to make a P5A.

I mean, looking at it technically, depending on the style of rerelease we're looking at two possible localization jobs...
  1. Golden/FES Style Re-Release: New Events, Dungeons, & Content. New Scenes will require additional voice acting from previous actors, and full re-dubbing will be required in the case of conflicts. (i.e: Chie/Rise/Kanji from game to game.) All new text will require localization, meaning time will be spent on that regardless, as well.
  2. Persona 3 Portable Style Re-Release: Female Route & Accompanying new Content. Much like a Golden/FES Style re-release, all lines referencing "him" must be re-recorded to be changed, and some areas of the game will have new scenes/text that will also need to be localized & dubbed. Conflicts/etc will also need to be handled the same way as with a Golden-style Re-Release if they arise.
I mean, the amount of work may differ between the two options, but either way, it's a prime excuse to re-localize and give the game another editorial pass or so to fix issues from vanilla, of which there are quite a few legitimate errors. This is especially considering both options will require a translator/editor on hand regardless for new scenes & edits.

why are we talking about re releases and not about DLC?

I mean, unless this comes to switch I ain't rebuying

I can't remember for some reason, but in this game, after a battle the music would continue from the same point right? It's annoying how in P4 it resets post battles.

Okay so I finished the game. It's my first persona game ever, and I'm in love. The art, the music, the mechanics. It's all awesome.

Palace 5 was a low point of the game for me, almost made me put the game on hold from boredom. I guess the theme didn't interest me that well.
The palace owner, motivations for going into that palace, new team member, everything was just "ehh".
Everything before palace 5 was great.

But oh boy. Everything after palace 5 was just a wild ride right until the end.

My favorite persona in the game:
"Gabriel" with null phys/reduce attacker acc by half / salvation / megaton raid. Made the MC a perfect tank / damage / healer combo.
Managed to fuse at start of palace 7 or so, made rest of the game so much fun to play. Kept using exclusively right until end too, with only randomly switching out to target random encounter mob weaknesses.

About to send the calling card for Palace 7.

Don't have time to keep on playing today but I can't wait for some more free time so I can finish this all up. Loved every minute so far (except the lull that was Palace 5)

Excited to see what happens next :)

I was on a mad tear fusing last night after reaching 99. Got 80+% completion for Compendium now. Only used $1M so far. Still have $1M left.

It's not just about the Persona skills though. It's also about building a good library so you can easily get the Persona you want when you need them. There's also the matter of stats. The MC's stats are directly linked to the Persona equipped, so you want to have really good stats as you progress, instead of just focusing on the skills. That aside, Itemization is a huge incentive to care about being able to fuse the big endgame Persona, since all the ultimate weapons come from those and can't be bought or found. The high level of those Persona also mean that you'll need to spend a lot of money just to fuse them unless you want to grind A LOT. It cost me like 400-500k to fuse Michael, but it was totally worth it since it gives Makoto the gun that adds +10 to all her stats. The unique melee weapons you can get from Persona mid-game and late-game also tend to look really cool. Having the Bugbear gloves on Makoto as a weapon made battles so much funnier. And now she has knife hands from Cybele. Lol.

But like I said, the game is pretty easy. I have half a dozen good Persona with every skill. I just use enemy weakness skills, then do all out attack, then rinse and repeat till they're dead.

Really don't feel the drive to spend x amount of hours on the Persona system to be honest.

To me, the persona 5 cast doesn't seem to have the charisma or chemistry to work as the spinoff machine the Persona 4 cast was.

I guess they could always just force the persona 4 cast into those spinoffs as well.

I think the P3 chemistry is even worse but they somehow got them into spin-offs anyway.

The game released in september in japan i think... if there was any story DLC planned we would pobably know by now
Yet since p3 atlus has always been re releasing persona games in portable consoles so if persona gers an enhanced version this is probably the way they'll do that

Yeah i know it sucks but that's how atlus does stuff

I think I just passed the point of no return for leveling up confidants. I was hoping there would be like another month left. I'm so bummed out I didn't max out the last few. =(

Sigh... I guess I'll NG+ after all and go for the plat

Persona 5 Golden, if it does exist, if it in fact does become a thing then where is it released? The switch is the only modern handheld console out there and it's only 50% of one. Could it actually be released on Vita?

I don't think it's needed at all but time will tell.

It doesn't necessarily need to be released on a handheld. P3FES was released on the PS2 and is the canon version of the game thanks to the inclusion of The Answer. If they did go handheld, then it could only go on the Switch unless Atlus makes serious concessions to get the game on to the Vita like they did with P3P. I'd expect an updated game with an updated translation and extra content to come out late on the PS4 if they plan on doing one at all.

So look forward to it in 2020.

Screw releasing a possible rerelease on the Vita. Unlike P4G, that would be an actual downgrade. Either go the P3FES route and release it on the same system (now with PS4Pro support), or make a Switch version since the specs for it are on par if not slightly better than a PS3.

And yeah, I would prefer a Persona 6 instead. Though I don't trust the B team of P-Studio to do this, but it's the only chance of getting a P6 in the next 6 years.

Enhanced versions of Persona games is the norm now. But I wouldn't mind if they move onto something new.

In my opinion, I think Persona 5 is so good that it doesn't need an enhanced version. I'm happy enough with what we got out of this. I know they could probably make it better but ehh, I rather they move on!

Like Re Fantasy?

Forgot about that. Well I'm looking forward to Re Fantasy, but also if they decide to make more Persona games(namely the JRPGs. Arena and Dancing All Night didn't really interest me).

Have people been making P5 gifs, preferably of non-spoilery things?

I would really like one of the Take Your Time animation on loop. The love version with the hearts would be nice to have, too.

I'm glad this is being made. I just hope that means whatever enhanced version of Persona that does eventually come isn't compromised in some way.

I just had a fusion accident... are they supposed to be good/bad? Rare?

Rare. I saw one in 250 hours of gameplay. They can sometimes be good and grant you a higher level persona that's way better than what you were trying to fuse or bad in that it's a persona you don't need at all. My one fusion accident was not good.

Random Question regarding the "perfect ending".
Apparently you're not supposed to let on to your friends during interrogation, (and I don't think I have, but...) the way the interrogations take place and the way the conversation goes on I honestly have no idea whether I've snitched on anyone or not. Are they talking about those interrogation scenes spread out during the game? Or is there a more final "are you going to snitch on your friends" type scene?

I'm 70ish hours into the game, and was just told this by a friend, but it's a bit unclear. Wondering if I've been making the wrong conversation choices the entire time...

You shouldn't worry about it. The moments that determine your ending are singular; they don't take place throughout the whole game. The game makes it transparent when you're engaging in a situation that will determine your ending.

So it'd be the latter in your spoiler. It's not that nebulous; most people would naturally go through the correct path through the context of that scene.

The game makes it painfully clear what direction to go in and what choices lead towards the true end when you get to that section of the game.
