Persona 5 |OT2| Someone must have been helping you go to bed early. Talk!

fml I really hate the 7th palace...

7th Palace thanks for that bit of info

That's something I've never taken advantage of. In previous Shin Megami Tensei Games I soley relied on hitting their weaknesses before they hit mine. He was definitely easy which was disappointing and he soaked in damage which I guess was my fault.

Looks like I'm going to have to up my game for the harder difficulties.

For most fights that really is the best way to handle it but bosses (even mini bosses) can be wrecked by buffs/debuffs. It isn't some inconsequential difference, its pretty huge.

Im not sure but I always assumed that was the case.

Isnt that how Ryuji and MC threw Ann out of Kamoshida's castle? I dont tecall them using the app to get out, and then reusing it to return. They just threw her out the entrance, didnt they?

Yes, this is how it works. I believe it's confirmed multiple times in dialogue, especially near the end. One thing, though:
the entrance is just wherever someone used the app. There isn't a set entrance,
if I gather correctly.

I put eight hours into this game after work and didn't sleep and now I'm back at work. I was in the minute I answered a wardrobe question with
U Jelly?

I think I'm going to start over tho. I want to take the best route and max as much as I can and I missed a lot. That may be dumb but I'm enjoying this game and won't mind rerunning the first dungeon.

Wow this game is really fucking with me at the end of July isn't it? Introducing all this extra time to spend with the characters. I probably need to say no at some point right?

So what should I do? I'm at the 7th palace
with almost no SP nor coffee. I'm at the lower depths save point.

I feel like I'm kinda screwed here. Should I just grind mobs for money and get SP patches from takemi?

Wait... that was the dreaded fifth palace which everyone hates? It isn't the best palace by any means, and the music isn't good, but based on what people were saying, I was expecting much worse. It didn't seem excessively long or painful to me at all. What exactly did people not like about it (aside from the music)?

Are you sure you're in the 7th palace? Because it kind of sounds like you're not. If you're absolutely sure, ignore the next spoiler just in case.
Getting SP patches certainly couldn't hurt, but if you're where I think you are,
try talking to the Velvet Room twins.

Only the one equipped at the end of the battle. You need them to have one of the Growth skills on them to get exp when in your stock.

Corollary: any personas you put Growth 3 on will be hulked out by the time you get rid of them, because they'll get experience from EVERY BATTLE YOU FIGHT. I had a Rangda I levelled up something like 20 levels just because I never fused another repel phys persona from that point on.

Just finished the game.

Good lord Yoshitsune with Hassou Tobi, Charge and Heat Riser ate through the last boss like butter that I think I broke a lot of the scripted arm moves so I didn't get to see much of what it did.

Also this may be the most consistent Persona story especially compared to Persona 4 where there was a lot of tangentially related things going on in the slow middle months. I felt like this one escalated steadily, going from personal oppression, to national oppression. Also the obvious betrayal twist with Aketchi was treated as obvious so I was then blown away that Igor wasn't actually Igor, that was great.

EDIT: I also found it humorous how all the special holidays never ended well, it was a great contrast to all of the holidays in Persona 4 being special happy bonding moments.

Uhhh so it's been a while since I saved. (12/24)
is this decision with the god of control something that determines endings?

Approaching end game and is it just me or do you guys also miss the abundance of siice of life events/scenes that P4 had? In my opinion those scenes made me feel that the p4 cast were friends rather than just people who happened to have the same powers and circumstances. Almost all the meeting with the p5 cast were them discussing the phantom thieves.

Jesus Christ the bunny girl shadows in the 6th palace are deadly. They can sense you when you're behind them and can start a battle from wherever they spot you.

I think people just consider it the "least good"? I know I do. Dungeons in this game are so great that even the worst is pretty decent all things considered.

Are you comparing it to vanilla P4 or Golden? Golden had many new ones added... To a fault IMO. I like these things but the meat of the game are the dungeons for me, so if they can condense their interactions while keeping them well written then I'm good.

The 5th palace wasn't as long as I was led to believe. It didn't feel any longer than the other palaces.

It was easily the worst one so far, but it wasn't terrible or anything.

Also they seem to spawn bouncer shadows upon spotting you. Which is a nice touch considering
you're in a casino
, but annoying af lol

This is filler text because people are really sensitive about divining what a spoiler is from the length of the spoiler text. Anyways, yes, if it's the question I think you have to answer, it does determine endings.

It feels more like P3 in that way, which some people like and some people don't like.

A lot of people are dead set on one shotting every dungeon and the 5th has so many gimmicks that I could see myself HATING it if I were playing like that too.

But yeah it was alright.

I dunno, I've said it before but I did it in one go and found it fine. I haven't been pushing myself to do these in one go but I've never hit a wall where I've found I need to take a break.

It would be interesting how people complaining about the length of some of these would fare in games like Strange Journey.

The boss battles are definitely the worst part of the game. It turns from a normal battle with strategy to a long cutscene against a tank, and you basically have to survive as long as it takes until the game allows you to actually beat them.

I think this is a better balance between the two. Persona 3 was all business all the time and it felt like the characters were only hanging out together as work buddies. Persona 4 went the complete opposite and that felt like the main story was secondary to the hijinks. Persona 5 is mostly business, but all the characters feel very attached to each other as BFFs.

Looking back I think 2nd palace actually is my favourite. The setting, atmosphere and story just did it for me I guess, plus it's the only one that felt like an actual heist and I dug that. Only knock against it is that the music isn't particularly memorable.

It was also the best character's debut dungeon.

This game is doing such a bad job of making me
want Morgana back in my team, he's more annoying than ever

Yes, focus on the stats because after you will have less time since game will go back to its previous pacing.

Those scenes in P4 did everything but endear me to the characters.

I don't really get why so many people are hung up on wanting every cast to be buddy-buddy anyway. And I wouldn't say P4's camping and culture festival scenes were very friendly either...

I must be using SP poorly. :/ It's pretty tough for me to do in one day. Maybe I will get better when I do more palaces

SP Regen accessories make it easier.

Though the game isn't really designed for all of it one go. As the game says "Take Your Time"

Immediately post 7th Dungeon question

Mishima sent me a new request at the deepest floor of the Mementos available but it didn't open up a new zone. I assume completing the Mementos will be mandatory to see the true ending of the game since Morgana's story is linked to it.

Is the last Mementos path unlocked by story progression or did I mess something up?

To be fair I've seen people complain about the length of pretty much all of them and that has been the only one I've been bothered by. Not even because it's long but because I wanted more fighting with at least one less puzzle room.

But yeah that's precisely how I tackle them haha. Like SJ and Etrian Odyssey dungeons, I try to make as much progress as possible without forcing battles with low SP, so I've finished them all in 2-3 days.

Yeah, I can get behind the fifth dungeon being the worst/least good, but I just thought some people were saying it was awful and too long, which I don't really understand. I guess what does hurt it is that it comes after the fourth dungeon, which is probably the peak so far.

I completed 7 palaces so far and I think the 1st Dungeon was my favorite. Kamoshida did a great job in making me hate him and getting a reaction out of me. I have a genuine appreciation for characters like that.

Fyi it is nigh impossible to complete everything first play through. Unless you use a guide, which most feel kills a lot of the joy of the game.

I'm with you.
P3, the team had a more profesional relationship but I sympathized with them because they kinda was already in a mess so I wanted to help them.
world of shadow was blending with real world and was doing victims
P4 the bonding events made the cast my friends, I wanted to protect them and Doujima family so bad. I miss Nanako and her father.
P5, indivually the characters are likeable but I don't care about their cause or group, I could've gone solo and I wouldn've cared. They don't hangout together without you...

I accept more P3 business situation because they were kinda desperate and also it was an organization. It's Mitsuru mainly who held the group together. You just came along with Junpei as newbies. Otherwise the group was already formed and fighting shadows. So yeah, it was more easier for me get into P3 and they didn't cared about fame or rumors... This aspect irriated me a lot in P5. We're supposed to be batmans and not Iron man...

I wanted to tell the group so many tie when they were freaking out about public opinion: "why do you care ? we've the power to change people! So shut up, we don't need to be loved. I do this because I want to help people."
And the group of P5 do take lot of time to think the same... they wavered so often because of public opinion, that I facepalmed a lot.

Oh yeah, all said and done, the first arc definitely was the best.

But the 1st palace specifically is probably my least favourite lol. Dungeons are far more enjoyable when you don't have to worry too much about SP and you have more leeway in terms of team comp and persona builds.

I have to say the text message sessions are doing wonders for me when it comes to picturing the team as a group of actual friends. They come off as a pretty natural group so I look forward to those a lot.

They even feel more real than the P4 cast at times, where often it felt like everyone was friends with the protagonist rather than being one big group of friends.

11/21 major spoilers
Shido and Akechi talking to themselves about shit they already know because they did it... nice lazy, shameless exposition dump there, Atlus.
Embarrassing that that's how they thought they should go about it.

I like this female protagonist design:

Definitely do the clinical trials. Tae is bae, plus you get some great items available after progressing her confidant. There is also a movie in Shibiya near the start that is good for guts.

It's just that I got the maid quest and I think I'm way behind already.
