I'm starting to think that there is virtually no correlation in Tumblr posts' popularity beyond the random people who see it and happen to reblog it, thereby spreading it for more people to see.

My picture of FeMC dressed as Nina has 13 notes. Not much.
My picture of Chie dressed as Jack Frost has 26 notes.
My picture of FeMC in a Yasogami uniform has 93 notes.

All the pictures are similar in quality, with maybe the Yasogami one being slightly worse.

*shrug*

I don't get it.

I think you need a combination of luck, timing and money to get popular on tumblr.

It's a damn shame too, since I genuinely think that your art is as good / better then most of the popular art blogs I follow. If only there was a way to get our PersonaGAF artists on the map...

DS is such a shitty site.

No, he has it wrong. Atlus isn't being sold, Index is. Sega-Sammy is indeed rumored to be in the running, but whoever wins the auction gets the whole pie; it's not piece meal.

I love Atlus, but they're not worth $200m.

It's not a straight auction like with THQ. Index put forth the sale personally. While money will be the deciding factor, Index's opinion will be taken into account.

I still have high hopes for GungHo, for reasons duckroll mentioned in the thread.

I don't want this to go to Sega honestly. Part of me thinks they might be hesitant in bringing titles over (whens yakuza 5/phantasy star online 2 lul), and considering how most of Atlus' stuff is pretty niche, I'm not sure if Sega would even bother. Hopefully (if they get Atlus) I'm wrong on that end and they bring as much here as they can.

Remember, this is the HOLDINGS COMPANY that is interested, not Sega specifically. Index made it pretty clear they want to preserve the Atlus branding and how it operates. It would not become a part of Sega of Japan. Things would continue as usual on that front.

So we won't have Jack Frost in Sonic All Star Racing?

You should post this in the Bloomberg thread, too.

Ah I see. Given that it's another gaming chain I'd honestly would have guessed they would have done some weird Sega/Atlus combination but with it being just the holdings company that kind of makes me feel a little more at ease.

I don't need to. Duckroll, Aeana, and a few others already said it. Can't help if it gets ignored. :\

EDIT: Actually, apparently I already did say something to that effect in the thread. Go figure. :p

Still entirely possible!

You should still be worried. Sega Sammy Holdings could impose their will on the developers if they wanted to. Duckroll made a pretty awesome post on it. That said, any buyer in the short run of things is probably not going to interfere with operations too much.

Some key posts by duckroll that are worth reading on the situation.

My breakaway most popular one is the 3 hour colour blobs of Travis Touchdown followed by the Persona 4 cards that took a bajillion hours

That and having someone popular on tumblr reblog your stuff so other people following them see it.

I had that randomly happen to one of my original posts and suddenly I had 1000+ notes overnight. o_o

Is Persona 1 worth playing?

It's about 25 hours. If you play it, follow a guide strictly to get through it. 2 was way better than 1, both in characters and story. Even gameplay with the addition of fusion skills and subtraction of that damn grid.

That doesn't inspire me with much confidence lol

I assume you mean the PSP version? The gameplay is as good as it'll ever get(the PS1 version made formations a guessing game), and it was very unique and innovative for the time.

The years haven't been kind, but it still has a good plot.

Eh, don't read too much into his reaction. You see, the game is kinda divisive, since some parts of the game can look archaic by today's standards. Still a pretty good game, and if you get bored during some parts of the game, you can always fall back on the Casino minigame.

Man, I think I spent more time in that place rather than keep going with the main quests, haha.

I wish the remake had put more effort into modernizing some of the games weaker aspects. While they did a great job on the user interface, I always thought it was awkward that they didn't improve the animations and the general flow of movement in the game.

Sorry for the lack of confidence in my response.

P1 is a good game in of itself, problem is that it's kinda......well...alright when it comes to the rest of the Persona games.

But if you have no problem with that then I say go for it, like I said the game is good and while it may not "hold up" it is pretty serviceable when it comes to plot/gameplay
and lets face it.....it has a better tarot/card fusion system then P2 :p, yea I said it.

It's kind of hard to do that without entirely changing the game's code.

Speaking of P1, I'm thinking about playing though P1 and the P2 dualogy starting on Monday. Why do you need a strategy guide for P1? Is the gameplay that bad? Also will all 3 games turn me off since I'm not really a big fan of JRPGs? Persona 3/4, Pokemon, and the Tales series are the only JRPGs I've ever been able to tolerate. I've never been able to get into the FF series or the Dragon Quest series since the combat got repetitive after a while (P3/4 at least give you gameplay options other that straight dungeon crawling). Are the first 3 Persona games like these, because if so, I might not even bother.

If you don't like combat, you will definitely not like P1 and maybe not like P2 because that's what it's all about. If P3 and P4 is "story first, gameplay second", then the older Persona games were the opposite.

Persona 2's story and characters are still pretty awesome, though, so that might make it worth it. Also, aside from avoiding a bad ending, I wouldn't say a guide is necessary for Persona 1 (PSP version) because it's grindy as hell, but really easy.

Movement probably, yeah. But the animations wouldn't require significant rewrites, I'd think.

At the very least they could have added animations for idle. They look like stone statues when they're not doing something and it's silly. It was silly back in 1996 too.

Persona 1 and Persona 2 have fairly different combat systems. P1's combat system is a lot closer to the classic Shin Megami Tensei games, and P2's combat is just unique.

They're 90's RPG's through and through. The innocent Sin remake is balls-easy though, especially if you get a guide for demon negotiation.

I'll play through both P2s since everyone praises the story. However, is P1's story worth the apparently bad gameplay? Is it stand alone or does it tie into P2 at all?

There are references and characters from P1 in P2. However due to the nature of Persona 1's writing (read: average), you don't need to play it to understand the characters in Persona 2.

It's kinda weird. The P1 cast members were done better in Persona 2 than their own game.

Persona 2 has significant Persona 1 cameos, including a party member in P2 directly from P1.

The story in P1 is pretty connected to P2. Main reason I'm glad I played P1 was for the references in P2.

Compared how, even though Index Holdings are a camp of book cookin' crooks, they did leave Atlus alone. In an era where most publishers are ran like the Donner Party when times are lean, having the teams at Atlus at that kind of mercy does not put me at ease.

Yeah, crooked management aside, Index let Atlus largely do their own thing, and their era got us a localization of Soul Hackers.

Thanks, I'll give P1 a try. If I don't like it, I'll move on to P2.

This is why GungHo Entertainment would be the best fit. Many of the acquired subsidiaries they've gotten over the years have been allowed to do as they please, and they'd help out Atlus significantly in the mobile space.

Good idea. You may find yourself liking Persona 1. I actually enjoy the combat system in it more than Persona 2's combat system. It's still inferior to everything post Nocturne tho.

I'm pulling for GungHo as well. If they'll let GHM do what they want, there's no reason to worry whatsoever.

I also find it funny that people are realizing how generally good to Atlus, Index was. When they first bought them people acted like the end of an era was approaching.

I saw The Wolverine tonight. It was pretty fun. Now I just need to see Pacific Rim, and the summer of blockbusters will be complete.

Ok I've recorded this last year while I was playing Persona 2 EP. There's a demon you meet in Morimoto Hospital named Erynis that uses singing samples when she attacks/gets hit. But when she dies, it really sounds like they've used a Celine Dion voice clip for her death cry.

Favorite demon in the game to contact!!!!!

I'VE HAD IT!!

Finally finished P4G after months of stalling. The epilogue was fantastic. It's nice that
Namatame and even Adachi
got somewhat happy endings. Kanji looks great too. Marie's part was pretty meh though.

Also Yosuke has a stupid haircut.

Watch it. Pacific Rim was awesome.

Was there another decent movie this summer (besides Wolverine), btw?
