What's your playtime and apps?

I'm 24 hours in and I'm level 40. One of the most helpful apps were the MP recovery ones. The last one gives it to your whole party. Gave the MC an accessory for better healing, so one Mediarama heals everyone fully.

I did the fundraising ones and Scout Bonus for fun since I wanted money for guns and bullets. They don't help out all that much since the macca is kinda low still. And since I don't use a lot of spells, I only gave 2 Skill Expansions to myself while giving my demons more. Switching bullets between areas is kinda fun. Plus my non elemental ones are Skull Rounds, inflicting KO randomly, while my gun aims at all enemies.

But yeah, MP recovery is just way too good. I rarely hit below 75 percent MP on the next encounter.

I didn't bother with Expert Scout since I think my Luck stat is helping me out on negotiating.

I'm surprised it's coming to the US. Titles like this are fairly uncommon. That said, it's largely a bunch of characters the average person wouldn't know fighting each other in gameplay that can only be described as part way between Street Fighter 3, the original Marvel vs Capcom, and Melty Blood. :p

Unsurprisingly, given it's visual novel roots, virtually the entire cast is female. There are only two male characters as far as I know.

A fighting game staring hentai game characters. Now I've seen everything.

These are not hentai game characters. Every title included either was all ages (To Heart 2) to begin with, or had an all ages/anime release down the line.

As I said on Twitter, this is essentially like Melty Blood without all the charm that makes Melty Blood enjoyable. Using a cast of characters who are mostly unsuited for a fighting game. :p

Lol you'd think that Atlus localising the game means they'll get some kind of screens/art package from the developer but all those images being watermarked by Dengeki Online.

A good number of them started off as Eroge though. I know Utawarerumono (Underwater Ray Romano) and Tears to Tiara were at least. It's not a big deal though; Melty Blood is technically the same. Tsukihime was great (for the story and characters, I swear).

Being eroge in this case means very little. Lots of times the porn is just a throwaway thing to get the attention of otaku and has very little to do with the setting. It's not even written by the same author as the rest of the novel sometimes! Hence why so many titles can easily remove it for an All Ages console version or anime adaptation down the line.

I'm actually kinda annoyed this title was announced. I'm sure it has its fans, but it doesn't seem like something that'd sell in the US even on a limited release.

I know that they barely fit into Tsukihime at least. The ones in Fate/Stay Night feel forced as well, though the edited alternatives in F/SN are hilarious.

Getting back on subject, I heard that Aquaplazza was actually pretty popular in Japan. How's the gameplay? It seems as if there are assist characters or something.

Atlus: "Muahahaha... we can use these pictures from another site to temporarily shift discussions away from Persona 5, they'll forget it even exists..." *rubs hands evil-like*

And then they announce it next week once they think we're not looking even though we actually are.

Right?

Saints Row 4 is amazing. I put off my playthrough of P3P for it and haven't looked back.

But we already know it's coming on Tuesday

Replace OP with Famitsu and I swear it describes half of this thread sometimes :p

True dat. I've been playing it for the past 5 hours without stop, which is something I usually never do with games. The Baileypocalypse is just so hard to tear myself away from...

The dubstep gun is SO GOOD.

And I seriously want to see a Saints Row 5 just to see how they top the intro sequence to SR4. Each iteration continues to be more and more awesomely ridiculous.

It's fucking excellent. I raved a bit on Twitter last night. It's immediately an improvement over SR3. The design is tightened, the humor is still tempered; I couldn't be happier with how it's turned out. I'm five hours in, 12% complete. I'm like a dog chasing cars in this one. I want to do EVERYTHING.

I haven't even done the main missions. I've been doing most of the side content. Super leaping and gliding around the city is soooooo good.

EDIT: damn, just realized: we're way too off topic. I guess that's what happens when there isn't new news in a long time...

Half? I bet that it's more than that.

The Control Key is your best friend during those times in both visual novels. The story was great in both, but Nasu sucks big time in that kind of writting.

Also, from what I've heard it was well received over there. And, as someone who has dabbled into the VNs featured in this game, with the obvious exception of the original ToHeart due to the lack of translations (I used to read a LOT of these things, since they were the only thing that my old laptop could run :p) I'm kinda curious about them.

At least they didn't choose to localize the other game with ToHeart 2 characters in it (PSP dungeon crawler, forgot the name). That would have been... odd, to put it lightly

But what if the criteria is being awesome?

Junpei, Akihiko, Mitsuru, Koromaru and Shinji have enough awesome to make up for the awesome sucking black hole that Fuuka and Ken are. Not even counting MC and FeMC.

P4 has Kanji, Chie, and Naoto and that's about it, not counting Yu.

But who cares what I think, I'm horribly bias.

I've been jumping and gliding around the city for four hours now while listening to Night On Bald Mountain and The Touch on repeat, and I just learned you can collect audio logs.

THIS GAME IS AFTER MY HEART, GUYS.

Plus Rise likely worked for (if not currently works for in some capacity) some Kirijo owned company, Chie's a total Akihiko fanboy, and Naoto's likely going to be the same to Yukari with the whole Featherman bit. So a bunch of them are already jumping ship. ;)

Am I the only one who'll step up for the Persona 4 cast?

Yosuke alone beats half the P3 cast in likeability and entertainment value, and he's only the midling point of the Persona 4 cast.

Akihiko fights bears and Junpei's da man. Yosuke can't top that.

Oh my way to the final dungeon in Innocent Sin. I think. Either way I'm in the ass end of it.

Some character spoilers on things that just happened:
Eikichi's shadow event was nice. Kinda forgot about Cozy. Lisa being a drugged up floozie is interesting. A little unsurprising in a way. I kinda spoiled myself on this with buddha's post the other day because I couldn't resist, but she's still great in my books. Tatsyua's reminded me of the the bit in P1(Late game P1 spoilers)
where you meet the pierced boys shadow thing
. P2 spoils continue here:
It was a little weird to meet a silent characters shadow. Guess it won't be so odd after I get to EP, but still.

Anyways, off I go!

But Yu Narukami is his own character.

Yosuke, Chie, Yukiko, Rie Teddie, Kanji, Yu (anime).

This game isn't even close to being finished.

Awesome people don't need help from others to overcome their personal problems. :p

So we're talking about who is better now?

tumblr_ma6878ouAW1rbjtoro1_500.jpg

Yu has more personality.

We also don't know Makoto's personality yet so it's not a good comparison. It's like comparing Pierced Boy to Tatsuya who is already fleshed out.

In all seriousness, P3 vs P4 has been done to death already. Let's do other comparisons. Who sucks more, Metis or Labrys (battle of the inferior toasters)?

Well.... Metis is technically a part of Aigis.
Therefore it must be Labrys thanks to unfortunate technical situations beyond her control.

I chalk that up to the actual dev team's growth and progression. I think they kind of sharpened up their vision of the concept with P4. FeMC also has more personality than P3MC.

The P3 protagonist's characterization shifted drastically in the drama CDs too. It's very noticeable if you listen to the one that came out before FES compared to the ones that came out with Persona 3 Portable.

Agreed. It's why Makoto's few added options in P3P have more personality than all of his original lines combined. "It's a cat, dammit."
