Little bit overboard don't you think? I mean, Radiata Stories is a pretty dark game, but darker than Innocent Sin or the finale of P3? I don't think so.
Also I can like immediately tell who has and hasn't played the original Persona here. > _>;
I own it, but everyone tells me it's shit so I haven't touched it.
It's dated. It is anything but shit however. You just have to set your expectations for "Kickass dungeon crawler from 1996" and not "Heey, Persona 3/4-Prototype!"

In IS you don't actually get to know anyone who dies during the Grand Cross, while in Radiata Stories, no matter how you've played the game, the people that die are the ones that you've met, interacted with, and probably at some point in the early game befriended. Like you can say "Oh my god the whole world was wiped out in IS" but people outside of Sumaru only really exist as hypotheticals, while in RS it's Miranda, and Fernando, and Jill, and Thanos, and Patrick, and Natalie, and Leonard, and Adele, and so forth and so.
It also helps that Persona 2 lets everyone pop over to a non-ruined world.

Ultimately there's no
satisfying resolution for Radiata Stories. Both paths contain mutually exclusive information for the player, so no matter which you take, Jack will never know the full story. There's no magic solution that solves the world's problems, and no matter what you'll be left with the question of whether or not you made the right choice.
I think that since it is unsatisfying, that's what makes it so dark. Persona gives you answers, it gives you resolutions, it gives you epilogues. Radiata Stories doesn't.

Dude, the characters sneak in tons of ridiculous armor & weapons into the TV world. Hell, Kanji sneaks in afull sized desk, I think we should be past the point of caring what they bring into the TV world.
I know it's silly for that to stand out to me, but still. The weapons I can imagine them only having to sneak in once, the scooters are a damn form of transportation. Even with his dad running the place so the possibility of them sneaking in weapons off hours exists, an army of scooters?
How much to the game did adding that add? Nothing, and yet it can break immersion a lil bit, at the same time as making the game easier. WHY IS IT THERE?!

also i'd like to go on record with saying that radiata stories's story branch choice is handled far better than any branches in smt or persona. it's a simple, organic choice ("follow ridley" or "go to the meeting") that also trolls the player in a really neat way.

as I understand it, Elizabeth's Arena plot is about her trying to find a Magical Solution To Fix Everything, while Radiata Stories flat out tells you that there is no Magical Solution.

Only can do it in Persona 4 Golden, not Persona 4 itself. But in Golden you can do it while in Easy Mode. I forget if there was an option to disable it you might've selected.
Although in P4, you can just hold down triangle to advance it.
In Persona 4 or Golden? Because that was added in Golden.
