So I've been playing Persona 4 again and man, is it just me, or does everyone's IQ score drop after Naoto joins? Yosuke gets it the worst (probably for having the gall to contribute the most to the plot beforehand) by turning into a complete retard, but everyone seems to get hit with idiocy. Considering how the game spends a decent chunk of time trying to tell the player how sexy and smart Naoto is and how everybody loves her, I think this might have been done to make Mary S-I mean Naoto look better.

I don't know, am I the only who noticed this?

To be honest, I thought they were all really stupid to begin with.

Ok, now that we've got our thinking caps on...!

Did anyone else feel that Teddie became an infinitely better character after he got his human form? Up until that point, I felt that his character (while good) was progressing in the generic animal mascot path. His human form added a whole new dimension to his character. I really enjoyed his new relationship with Yosuke (as his little brother) and the rest of the cast. Who can forget his antics at Junes, or his new relationship with Nanako. I wouldn't have liked him (and the cast by extension) nearly as much if I lacked a human form.

And he's just so damn beautiful XOXO

Our similar opinions are starting to scare me.

Quick, what's your favorite legendary pokemon?

Pretty nice. Pay more attention to the scaling of their limbs though. Her arms are pretty small compared to the rest of her body.

The damn eShop is fine. Not the best but worth it sometimes

Alright guys--for the Atlus sale: Devil Survivor Overclocked or Soul Hackers?

Overclocked. Not that Soul Hackers is bad, but Overclocked offers an interesting mix of srpg and turn-based rpg, not to mention an interesting cast.

Btw, I thought that you managed to snag a $10 copy when amazon did the flash sale. It wasn't you, right?

Why, I'm going almost all digital only, I'm not gonna lose or break my 3ds, never lost or broke a system before, what's the big deal with physical copies.

It is fine, but only as a glorified mail-order form. So long as you know specifically what you want, then you're cool - you're set; if you don't, then may Iwata have mercy on your soul, because the layout is terrible and does a bad job of being something you can just browse.

They've hinted at rolling out proper accounts, so I'm not even going to mention it.

Having the system and the game separate makes theft/damage less crippling. It's a big problem since licenses aren't transferable across Nintendo hardware. If the system is lost, you've got to buy another copy of the game.

If there's more than a couple of games on there you're fucked.

I've had my 3DS for less than a year and it already has a faulty L trigger. There is no way this system is going to last forever.

Cool, I just started SMTIV myself.

Why do demons always want my precious life stone? ;_;

I somehow ended up with 40 Life Stones in my current SMTIV game. They can have as many as they want!

Also, I'd say Overclocked simply for an experience that's more separated from SMTIV. They're both pretty awesome though.

I was going to but that deal wasn't on Amazon.ca :(

Your safest bet is probably Devil Survivor Overclocked. You might not like SMT4, crazy I know:)p), and if you don't like SMT4 you probably won't want to play Soul Hackers.

They both have waifus in them IIRC, so you really can't go wrong with either :p

I'd like to get it at some point, but Danganronpa comes out one week after BD and I'm not sure I'll be able to afford the special editions of two games so close to each other (especially with Sex and Chocolate Day at the same time).
I'd be interested, except I'm still not 100% sure I'll get it right away, and my parents would want to buy it retail due to it being a birthday gift.
If either of you make a decision, let me know. I posted the offer yesterday because there seems to be a fair bit of demand for the CE - it's been OOS on Amazon for a few days now, and even Best Buy's availability is fluctuating, so if you actually want it, it's best to jump on it earlier rather than later.

Of course, you could also get the regular version from me for $32 or something.

Ooh, I am! I already have it pre-ordered, but I can definitely cancel it if you're willing to pass the savings onto me.
As long as you can swing the up-front payment, sure thing. PM me your zip code and I'll send you an exact quote.

Have you all ever heard of Timothy Treadwell? He was this crazy guy that lived among Grizzly bears in Alaska, he'd run up to them and try to pet them and say they were his family.

In the end he and his girlfriend where attacked and eaten by an old starving Grizzly bear. They made a documentary all about it and used years worth of footage he collected, you can watch it on youtube here.

Basically what I'm getting at is Timothy Treadwell was an insane anti-social dude that thought the (human) world was full of shit. Therefore he should be the antagonist of Bearsona 4.

Finished up reading through the P3 Design Works, amazing stuff. Loved reading Soejima's comments on his work. Thought it was funny how Hermes was originally supposed to be for the MC because he looked to cool for Junpei :lol

I also really loved the interview at the end of the book. Reading it I realized that I had no idea who the guys behind these games were. I obviously know their names but other than that I had no idea who they actually are, their thought process behind the game, or even what they look like. So reading their thoughts about life and death, the Slink system, and the thematic ties to the gameplay was really interesting and made me feel personally closer to them as creators. I don't know if I just don't pay attention but I feel like we rarely get this kind of stuff from smaller Japanese developers. We're constantly hearing from Western devs and know every single detail about a games' inception and design choices but I don't remember ever seeing such a personal interview with Hashino or Soejima. It really made me appreciate these guys more as people who crafted this game that I adore.

Mew, but I saw Giratina's 3D model and it jumped up like 8 spots on my favorite legendary Pokemon totem pole.

Ah, good. You aren't the assassin my anti-Giratina enemies sent to kill and replace me.

They did a pretty good job translating it into 3D, especially compared to the shit-tier battle revolution models. (Though Shadow Force still looks hilariously bad) Also the Kyurems look much better in 3D than they ever did in the Sprites. I can't wait to get my Normal and Shiny Kyurems in there and watch them wreak havoc in casual battles.

Actually on topic, I just bought Desu Overclocked. Once I finish Xillia I'm playing that next.

If this game isn't better than Desu2 (which I loved) you owe me a steak Buddha.

it's really odd to hear the game with voices.

Story wise it is better, I still feel 2 had the better cast of characters. I liked that you had a much larger group of people for different situations.

Mew and Giratina are not Deoxys, therefore they are not the best legendaries.

C'mon, step it up, guys.

On the topic of bears, some guy actually made a friggin' mecha suit for the sole purpose of fighting them. Take a gander:

They even made a movie out of it:

I beat the game a few weeks after it came out in NA during the summer time

Deoxys is great, but not "hellsnake from a world that defies all natural order" great.

Deoxys is a manly space alien who can beat your favourite Pokémon at whatever it feels like doing today. It doesn't have ears, which renders the pitiful cries for mercy that its opponents make entirely useless. Also it has a rockin' theme.

Have we had Persona wars yet?

No, because Seth and Lucifer would just tag-team everyone else to death like the Mega Powers. WHATCHU GONNA DO WHEN SETHAMANIA RUNS WILD ON YOU, BROTHER?!

I got 3 endings in DeSu1 in Overclocked *flex*

I wish I could like DeSu2 as much as you guys but to me, except for the actual gameplay and some characters, DeSu2 was a massive disappointment. Makoto was one of the characters I went in wanting to like more than I ended up liking.

I'm not saying they were particularly bright bulbs to begin with, just that they seemed to get dumber once she joined.
Well you had no point of comparison before. Once someone intelligent started hanging around it just became more obvious how dumb the rest of the team was.

They're average high school kids (with their own set of responsibilities) dealing with a fairly complex and abstract case. It doesn't surprise me that they come across as stupid when Naoto shows up, because they're literally out of their depth(and Naoto's a genius). As the mysteries start piling up, the characters get worse and worse at coming with solutions to the case, and i'm ok with that.

My only issue with the murder case is that
its abruptly solved in December. If you recall, you spend an entire day asking random people for details on the first 2 murders, and naturally nobody remembers shit. Then at the last second, Y(o)u come(s) to the conclusion that Adachi is the killer by thinking the case over. I think this could have been handled a bit better. I wish they made you feel like a real detective.

That said... I take solace in the fact that the wannabee detective doesn't get to solve the case. :O

as others have pointed out though, it's not necessarily that naoto is intelligent so much as it is she becomes the narrator or the 'as you know' person
